Does anyone else have waaayyyy too many scrappy/papercrafting projects going on at once? How do you organize and keep all the bits and bobs separate? I am currently working on:
Shimelle's Color Class Shimelle's Half and Half Class Shimelle's BOBW series for April Getting a kit together for BOBW for May A mini album for a trip I took A couple cards for upcoming birthdays Sorting pics for DS senior album vs. the pics I am giving to my mom of DS (piles of pics everywhere)
All of these have paper/embellishments/ect out...I am thinking I should put them each in a container and label? But that means more stacked up IRIS boxes and I already have a lot of those and no where else to stack them.
Anyone else swimming in projects and supplies? I know...it's an awesome problem to have, but overwhelming!!

yes - in a very different way but yes.
I use project binders and store them on my Kallax with my finished albums - it's obvious (to me) at a glance which are finished vs in progress because I use office supply binders for in-progress and actual albums from HL (mostly) for the completed ones. But I often feel pulled in different directions with what to work on next and that nothing is actually getting finished.
Currently actively in progress
2022 2021 2020 my older kids 2022 album sorting photos - both print and digital - labelling, identifying, organising
But I also have albums going back to 1970 in progress (some are finished but with having inherited my mum's photos - I may need to update them) plus dealing with my mum's photos (1890-2019) and hopefully making photo books ...and ...and...and
would it help to have a project cart? I have a 7-drawer cart where the drawers are Iris boxes and use that for trip albums mostly so I can put all the photos, memorabilia, paper, embellishments all together. (which reminds me...it's empty right and I have several trips that need to be sorted into it)

I use the 12 x 12 plastic scrapbook totes from Michaels. I can store an appropriate themed album, memorabilia, papers and photos in them. A few I have waiting right now are a Hawaii trip, a pet album, my daughters wedding (this is two totes!). If I am going to a crop I can grab the tote and have something to work on.

I hear you!
If the project has enough supplies, I use a Iris container to store the items in.
If it's a smaller amount of supplies, I use a 12x12 storage envelope (Hobby Lobby carries them), or a 12x12 bag.
One project does have an Iris container and it's own organizer tote (like a tool caddy type thing from Hobby Lobby) for the smaller bits and bobs and stamps. I *should* just hammer this project out so I can put the leftovers away, but it was a really fun trip, and I'm savoring scrapping it!

12x12 Iris cases. Or the 12x12 (13x13 ?) plastic envelopes if it is not worthy of a whole case.

My organisation style is piles. Haphazard piles all over the room on the verge of falling over and onto me. And I swear I’ll finally finish that project so I can get rid of stuff/put things back into the stash in its rightful place… and then I get new pretties or new inspiration and start another new project. I have found reusable fabric bags you’re supposed to use for groceries great to shove things in (I mean store nicely) when I’ve run out of room for my piles. On the flip side I have finally finished some albums from 20 years ago so I am slowly making progress 😇… until the next new release or project 😆

This is always what I think will work the best to corral the piles, assuming you have the floor space for it. I know LayleByMail uses one for all her on the go projects/kit building, and I think VictoriaMarie also does. VM also uses giant ziplock bags to kit up WIP stuff for later. The Iris case drawer units can do kind of the same thing as the cart. It partly depends how your mind works - I always think I need to have things out in plain view to trigger myself to work on them, but at a certain point you have too much stuff to see what you're supposed to be doing and it's very overwhelming. If I put things away too well my brain registers them as finished and I tend to forget to come back to them. That especially doesn't work if I'm making creative decisions on an ongoing project - walking past something every day helps move me forward because I'll get an idea and shift stuff around, or get a burst of motivation and make progress. But the piles... My brain thinks I need to have the annoyance of stuff in my way to force me to finish it but it's torture! I have a project list that I try to keep updated each month with a handful of things I want to work on/finish on there. Then I can "put away" some of what I'm working on to make some space. My projects are smaller than yours and I'm still figuring out my own solutions for what "put away" WIP projects look like. But as much as anything I think it's a brain/time management challenge as well as a space/storage management challenge. You can't be actively working on everything at once so it's helpful to recognize you're switching between different projects. Can you actually finish any of them with a little bit of concentrated effort (maybe the cards?) or pack up and set aside a project for much later (that is, give up on it for now because you're not actually working on it). Are there some things you could put away in their homes and just get out when you switch back to that task - maybe not all of the pieces need to be left out.

First off, let me say it sounds like you are enjoying all the projects you have in progress, so my post may not totally apply but bear with me. I have big iris cases for many of my ongoing projects including the ones that I dubbed my "Someday Projects." Some are stored within easy reach; some are stored in a closet. Many of the "Someday Projects" have been on my list for years and I have found that given the opportunity, I've never wanted to actually complete them. have had some of these on my "to do list" for years and I found that I never wanted to do anything with them. I know myself well enough when it comes to this hobby that when I don't have anything I want to work on I don't scrap very much, which then adds to the guilt of not getting anything accomplished (what a circular argument!!) My initial thought for storage/organization is always "ha, obviously buy more storage things" but when I looked around at my supplies, I was surprised to find I had at least 10 Iris cases being used for this purpose -- I had a moment of brutal clarity and honesty that this was too much for me. A few months ago, I set aside an afternoon where I shut myself in my craft area and I ruthlessly went through my "Someday Projects" pile. I hadn't scrapped in about 6 months and asked myself "do I still want to work on this?" I was honest with myself that perhaps I wasn't actually going to finish the kits/projects from an event I attended 5 years ago (gasp! can you even imagine?) The weight off my shoulders was lifted as I worked through the boxes -- I put what I wanted in my stash and put the rest in a de-stash pile. This then freed up some of the cases and helped re-energize me with the projects I actually want to continue working on, and not constantly looking at reminders of things that felt more like a lodestone around my neck rather than a fun creative hobby. I like joblackford's advice on see whether any of these projects can be completed with some concentrated effort. Scrappy energy for me is a bit of a manifestation where I gain more mojo when I scrap what I want to do. In fact, I had been putting off scrapping a trip recently because I wasn't feeling inspired to make it into a 12x12 album. I looked at what else I had available and I realized yesterday that I wanted to make this a 6x8 album. BOOM -- suddenly my scrappy mojo was back and I've been making great progress and am on track to actually complete the photos/PL layouts for the whole album by the end of the day today. Adding the fun bits will take a bit longer but having the bones all in place is spurring me on. I apologize for making my post about me and not really answering your question -- but my advice is to use what you've got and see if you need any further things or if it's time to consolidate some of your other current supplies. BUT MOST OF ALL -- GOOD LUCK!

I have a 13 x 10 x 8 (ish) Meori cloth tote that holds all of my page kits (with pictures) that I am working on. Right now I have about 20 of them and as I print more pictures, I add more to the tote. For other projects that aren't 12 x 12 pages, I keep them in Iris containers.

I use the 12x12 Iris cases also. Or, the pizza style boxes. Yes, I have a stack of them. I guess it doesn't really bother me to have the stack. At least the projects are together! LOL! I also have a few smaller projects in either a zip lock bag, or in the cropper hopper holder things. That's more a matter of using what I had available for storage then anything else. I'm not sure I have a better solution for you if you don't want the stacks of iris cases. I think the cart like someone suggested might be nice. Or maybe a shelving unit only for ongoing projects? Sorry I'm not much help!

Thanks all! I know this is a fun problem to have, my big challenge (and it sounds like others have this too) is that when I have too many/too much stuff in piles everywhere I can't concentrate and it stresses me out, so I just don't do anything. Easier to walk away than figure it out, lol!! linda and aj2hall, I would love the idea of a project cart, but I don't really have the room for the footprint of it. I did seriously consider it though. I also think that having the stuff stacked up on trays instead of corralled into a container isn't how my brain works...since reading what joblackford wrote, I have been seriously tracking how my brain works in my scrapspace...I've come to the conclusion that actually seeing stuff piled up is overwhelming and just says to me "too much!" lg, you made me feel much better! Somehow I envision the rest of the scrappy world to have totally tidy desks and no piles... mamagidget, FurryP, leeny, cmpeter, 950nancy and babylou I went with the iris containers. I only ended up having to get 5 of them, but that corralled all my different projects and made a huge difference. I figured for the BOBW kit situation, I could swap that out monthly and instead of hanging onto the old kit, I just need to be strict with myself and save what can be saved (put away) and pitch the rest. Ryann, I really like those paper holders, can I ask approx how wide are they/how many sheets do they hold? My hesitation with these is that they might not be able to hold all the stuff that goes into a project. But I really like them! Jessica, thank you for your supportive post! While I don't really have any projects to purge, I did put away an album project I was working on, and just stuck a post it note on it that said, "Later this Summer." I don't really have the time to give to it right now, and I am busy with life/work/other scrappy projects, so when that dies down I will return to it.

They are gusseted, so can expand out a bit, maybe to 1/2”- 3/4” when fully expanded/full.

the only time i work on multiple projects is if they are the same project but different papers. i can keep organized by working in phases and doing everything assembly line style. but i can't work on books or cards at the same time and i don't really have room to store half finished projects. i've set 1/2 finished stuff aside in the past and have never gone back to them. talk about a waste of paper and time. i just lose interest and can never just start again.

Michaels used to have a cart like THIS one that actually held full size iris containers. But I don't know where you could get one now. Takes away the need to move the ones higher up in the pile when you need one for the bottom.

I did not have to buy extra shelves because they were all included. Mine holds 7 each on their own shelf. I use it for corralling my current favorite lines/brands. I really like it. Michaels cart
