Yes, we have a local full service car wash still.
There are also plenty of drive-thru, self-wash and full detailing places.
Every now and then someone co-ordinates a detailer to come to DH's office and he gets booked up quickly.

And wait, you're supposed to tip at the car wash? I do at the full service one here. After your car comes off the line, one person will pull it to an area where they go over the inside and outside really well. From where I sit waiting, I see all the effort that goes into it. I’m happy to hand over $5 in appreciation for how great my car looks and smells when they are done. Our place doesn't allow tipping. I'm happy that they're paying them an actual wage and not relying on people tipping.

My small town only has a drive thru car wash at the gas station. But the town over has a full service car wash it’s about $35 for basic and I do tip.

full service car wash it’s about $35 for basic Wow, that is a lot. I think I pay $18 for a basic (includes inside), plus tip, at the full-serve place. The drive-through car wash is $14 for a basic. I've heard on my Nextdoor app about accidents at the drive-through ones, where your car is on a track and pulled through. Apparently, if you step on your brakes, your car goes off track and the cars behind you will rear-end you! Yikes! Another reason I go to the full-serve place.

I just checked their website and cheapest option is $30 which includes exterior and interior. Most expensive is $41 which includes floor mat detailing, wheels and rainbow wax.

We do not have that in our little town. Or even any of the bigger towns nearby that I can think of.
We usually go to Hilton Head once or twice a year, by car. Dh loves it as they have a few of those. He goes at least twice in the week we are there.

that does the INSIDE and OUTSIDE of the car? ? I can't seem to find one anymore. We have tons of new carwash places, but they ALL only do the outside of the car. After that, there's a free vacuum for YOU to use, and I have no idea what you do for the inside windows. This girl (at barely 5') cannot properly reach or clean the windshield or windows. They wind up more smudgy than before. I struggle with trying to vacuum my little sedan at these carwash places.
I long for an old fashioned carwash that sends your car on an automatic wash while you watch it from another room. Then 5 people descend on your vehicle and thoroughly clean ALL windows, etc. Is there any such thing anymore???
Wondering what disabled people or elderly people do now!?! So far I've traveled 15 miles and I haven't found a real carwash yet. Grrrrrrrr! TIA.
Mike's is right in your town and not too pricey ($17 for a car) and does exactly what you want. I'll pm you with details - we used one closer to where we stayed when we were down in the winter.

And wait, you're supposed to tip at the car wash? I found out that they don’t pay the guys who dry the car at these types of washes. They work solely on tips. Here in Los Angeles, they’re pretty much all undocumented, so they are exploited (what are they going to do? Report it? No.) About the time I heard this rumor, there was an article in the LA Times that confirmed it. So I make sure I tip well. But I think plenty don’t. Ah, nobody does anything but direct my car inside at my car wash. The blowers do the drying. That makes sense - I’d tip if someone did something other than hit the start button.

There's one in my town (outside Orlando, Fl) that has several options...you can drive through then DIY vacuum and clean inside or for more money you can get out of your car and the staff will clean inside, vacuum, wash windows, etc...Classic Car Wash is their name....we love it! Thanks. I'll look for the name on this coast. I NEED a full service carwash because I can't reach anything and I usually make it more smudgy than before!

Thank you for that. Mike's is actually close to Holiday. I'm actually closer to Bayonet Point/Hudson (our zip code and town is VERY deceiving. I have no idea how this complex got it put through! So, it's about 20-25 min away from me.)

Nope. Just the drive thru and diy vacuum near me. Are you talking about the kind of place that Walter and Skyler owned in Breaking Bad? I've never seen one IRL. And wait, you're supposed to tip at the car wash? I never saw Breaking Bad. I try not to watch anything violent or scary. I'm a baby! LOL. But, I've been going to full service car washes since I was 17 and had my own car (in NY). In FL (west coast), I found a great full service car wash and it was run by a woman who came from Long Island (my home). We clicked. She was wonderful, but then they had to close because these quickie self-serve car washes were opening all over the place. I miss her great place! And, YES, there's usually a big covered bin for tips.

That's funny because I feel like I can't find anywhere that just will do the outside - everyone wants to do the inside because they make more money.
And yes, I always tip well. What a crappy job, cleaning out someone else's car. I don't even want to touch the crap in my car!

I am only aware of one singular car wash that is totally self serve. You drive into the bay area and it is coin operated with a metal hose, scrubber brushes, and wand. There is also a vacuum available for you to use on the interior. I took my car there one time when it was covered in gunk from a few day's stay in Yosemite Valley. There was pine pitch on the roof and hood area and the powerful wand of hot water took the majority of it off. I figured if I took it to the regular full-service car wash, the pine pitch would gunk up their big brushes and possibly deposit on cars that came after me. All of the rest of them are the type that employs people to vacuum the interior first, then they drive it over to an automated washing and waxing line. When your vehicle is clean and most of the water is blown off, it is driven to an open area where people do the drying and detailing work. You can also opt for a hand application of wax instead of having it blown on within the car wash itself. The 2nd one is the one I'm referring to. I can't reach to clean, vacuum and ESPECIALLY wash (thoroughly) the windshield and windows. I'm so short that I really make it worse!

I believe my mother lives close to where you are (Palm Harbor) and she's been complaining about the car wash situation for months. For a while all the car washes were closed but one or two recently opened up, I'm not sure if they are full service though. Let me know if you want me to ask her. Thank you!! She's about 40 min from me. I'm closer to Bayonet Point/Hudson. (I did have a Nanny job in Palm Harbor, but in rush hour traffic, it took over 70 min to get there!! I do like it there and she's so close to Tampa, etc!). I feel badly for your mom, elderly people and disabled people. Why do they assume that we can all grab rags and dry our cars and do the vacuuming and wash the windows?? Ugh! It's bad enough that we have to pump our own gas in the blazing heat. Doesn't seem to be elderly-friendly.

So true - I have someone come to my house to wash and detail my car often. One day recently it seemed as if everyone showed up at the same time. It was eye opening just how many services I hire out - car wash, cleaning, dog walking (I also walk her), gardener, trash can cleaning, housekeeping, trash can cleaning, etc.

clair Trash can cleaning service?? I’ve never heard of such a thing. How often do they clean and how much does it cost?? Our cans don’t get really too dirty inside. If they do, like when someone walked by and threw an open cup of coffee in our can one day, we just hose out the inside.

We have a lot of them here, mostly because they can utilize water recycling for the runoff.
It wouldn't surprise me if the mobile ones are soon to be extremely restricted with the drought situation, especially in LA.

That will be brutal when the heat of summer hits. I wouldn’t be surprised if something like that pops up in other places in So. Cal. That is one reason they don’t want us to wash our cars at home, all the water we use just goes down the sewer.

No car wash in our tiny town, but there is one in the next town over. It's a self-serve drive-thru. I've never seen a carwash where the inside of the car is vacuumed, unless it was a detailing package. Must not be a thing around here.
