Good morning
This morning I have some errands. Then it'll be home for hopefully, some puzzle time. Dinner will be panko chicken in the af with rice and either cauliflower or brussel sprouts.
What's on your menu?
bc2ca gave me some great questions, as did stormsts. Today I have a question from bc2ca and I thank you for the question: If you eat outside, do you use your regular dishes/flatware or do you have an outdoor set? We had separate dishes and flatware for outside dining when I was growing up. It helped to make eating on the patio more special. Now we just use our regular stuff.
What's the plan for your week? I hope that everyone has something to look fwd to this week, no matter how small or how big. I'm looking fwd to seeing a friend that I haven't seen in a couple months. We will get it scheduled in a day or two Also, I'm almost finished w/my current puzzle and I'm looking fwd to a better one, since this one isn't that fun.
Happy, healing, easy week, my tribal lovelies.

I rarely eat outside since I live alone. However if I have friends over or am at my moms, I have melamine summer dishes. I am in hunt of some new ones!!
I feel 1000% better today. Dinner is a bacon wrapped pork chop from Omaha steaks and some roasted cauliflower

I have news! I am going to Vancouver on Friday for the weekend.
We never eat outside so it doesn’t matter what plates we use because we always have kitchen plates.
Dinner tonight could be anything because my dad is still sick.

Happy Monday everyone. Last week while I was away, one of my work colleagues needed a minor surgery. I wasn’t able to fill in then, as I was away, but she messaged yesterday to say she had her post-op appointment today, so I offered to fill in as necessary. Another colleague messaged me this morning to see if I could do Tu/We/Th, so I’ll be working those days. I’ll probably also do the same days next week, as she has now messaged that her GP has written her off work until May 13. I was glad not to work today - I really needed to do a decent grocery shop, as there was practically nothing to eat in the house. We are now restocked, so I can eat for a few days at least! Dinner tonight is steamed fresh white asparagus and mini potatoes, with hollandaise sauce. Nice and simple and I need to eat some vegetables after last week. We have a set of outdoor plates - made of melamine, so not easily breakable. We use our standard cutlery though.

Happy Monday dinner friends!
If we eat outside I have some summer melamine dishes we use too. We're more likely to eat desert on the patio and I have the cutest little plates that look like paper plates with ants crawling on them. Everyone thinks they are fun!
Dinner is going to be meatloaf and salad.
Wishing everyone an awesome Monday!

When I lived in my old house, I had outdoor plates. They were fun, bright colors and had ice cream and popsicle images on them. Now I don't have any anymore, however, I have so much fiestaware, there's no way I could possibly justify more plates! I think Jeremy would divorce me. LOL! scrapmaven, life's too short to waste it on puzzles you don't like! I'm so glad you are feeling better christine58I've been working in my office all morning. Nothing fun, just pulling audit documents. The auditors keep telling me they will be done in 2 weeks. We can only hope. I've been under audit for 7 months now and I'm over it. Tonight I will make steaks, corn and mashed potatoes. And I will finally throw away all the dead flowers. Today is Chloe's birthday. She wanted to go out with her fiance tonight and celebrate, but she wants to come to dinner tomorrow. I promised her I would make her favorite, enchiladas. So that's what's for dinner tomorrow night. My problem is that I need a clean space for people to actually eat. Sigh. Every surface in my house has flowers (most dead now) and plants (I'm killing them slower) and it's getting a bit annoying.

christine58 - yes, white asparagus tastes different. It is hard to describe the difference, perhaps a bit more ‘metallic’, milder. I am more likely to eat it as the main part of a meal, while with green it is more likely to be a side vegetable.

We have 12 monkey pod square *plates* that we use outside. My sister got them in Singapore in the late 70's. They are huge ~ think at least 12"x12". They are perfect for a large crowd in case some people have to set them on their lap to eat. Dinner tonight will be grilled chicken breasts. Going to try a new recipe which includes brining them.

Good morning. We had a fun, busy, and long day yesterday moving dd3 into a new apartment. Today is a busy day at work which is nice since I enjoy being busy and productive - makes the day go quickly. Dinner will be French dip sandwiches and fruit salad. I don’t have special outside plates because we have never really had a dedicated outside eating place. The last 1.5 years at the old house we had a small fire pit table and when dh and I ate out there we’d just use regular plates. Our new house will have an outside spot and I am sure I will go crazy buying fun outdoor plates and serving things, etc. looking forward to it!

Happy Monday! Today is overcast, warm and humid. Perfect day to stay home and get things done! This week is much less hectic so I am planning to knock out some of the never-ending to-do list.
Today is laundry, a few phone calls, then sewing time! Pulled out a tunic that I cut out during Covid but never made and will get going on that this afternoon.
As for eating dinner outside, we don't unless it is at a restaurant. It's too hot/humid here, not to mention we live close to a freeway so the road noise and pollution. If we did though, I would have a cute set of melamine dishes just for outdoor dining!
Last night I made fried green tomatoes & hush puppies for DH and some fried okra for myself, pairing it with leftovers from the grill from Sat. night. Tonight will be a salad and the last of the tenderloin tips that I grilled.

we don't eat outside unless camping, but as a kid, we ate outside all the time and had picnic plates.
tonight is another chicken something.!!
we spent the afternoon at the hotel where my son and his gal are getting married. he couldn't be there cause he has covid. lots of questions, lots of decisions and some arguments between the bride and mother. the mom is more traditional italian (long island) and is not on board with her daughter's vision of a causal wedding.. where we don't all sit down for dinner. course, the bride pointed out she is 49, it is her wedding and she is paying for it. not mom.
i tried to keep out of it. and then we had several drinks at local bar.

Hi ladies. Just a quick drop by.
I’m at a charity golf tournament today at a schwanky country club. It’s been storming all morning. It lightened up enough that they are playing. But this evening we have one of those apocalyptic storm systems coming through. So my anxiety is so far up there. I’ll try to come back and read everyone’s updates later.
Dinner tonight if I’m not hiding in a closet is probably Mac and cheese.

Hello! I had my first post op appointment this morning, 4 days out, and my dr is happy with how it’s going. I’m almost off the crutches, and am allowed to walk in my boot as I’m able. I can even shower now, so that will be tomorrow’s project. I think it will take most of my energy, but it’ll be worth it.
Dinner tonight is going to be something with chicken in the crock pot I think. DD will be home from class soon, and she will put something together for us.
We did a large backyard project last summer with new decks, fire pit and landscaping. I have new furniture on order, and am looking forward to the large table coming. I’m going to get special outside dishes for us, so we don’t have to worry. We enjoy eating outside when we can.

Hey all - still testing negative, so go me! Daughter still feeling pretty off - I think the lack of sleep from coughing/stuffed up is bothering her more than anything. She was just coming off end of term finals, so was already sleep deprived. Dinner tonight is pesto chicken. And we use our regular plates for eating out, but have special placemats/napkins.

I think we will get a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store, leftover ribs, asparagus and maybe a salad. Salad is iffy. Maybe though. I can make my homemade dressing that I love. I promised myself some dessert tonight, but don’t know what I want. Maybe I will pass on it. I did want Black Forest cake or chocolate cake.

Another early morning with appointments and errands for me. Now I get to relax and play for the rest of the day. We eat outside quite a bit but use our everyday dishes. I keep looking at the pretty sets at HomeGoods and other places, but I know I could never train DH that one set is indoor/one outdoor and he will just pull whatever catches his eye out of the cupboard. So if I need to set the outdoor table for 6, there is a good chance a few outdoor plates would be in the dishwasher even if we haven't eaten outside for a week. It drive me nuts, but he is also known to use a small serving bowl or rubbermaid container as his plate. If I'm feeding more than 25 then we get paper plates. We are have a shrimp stir-fry with udon noodles in a peanut sauce for dinner.

Went grocery shopping today. DH was expecting a couple Amazon deliveries so he didn't go with me. I usually spend less if he stays home so that didn't bother me!
Supper tonight is leftover stir fry for me and DH is going to grill himself a burger.

bc2ca said: but I know I could never train DH that one set is indoor/one outdoor and he will just pull whatever catches his eye out of the cupboard. This cracked me up. It wouldn't matter what I bought, Jeremy will be eating his dinner on the lapis blue bowl plate. No exceptions. No way I could train him.

I usually spend less if he stays home so that didn't bother me! Sing it sister!! DH always insists on *helping* by pushing the cart. I'm so fast I'm half an aisle away until I have to wait for him. I don't dawdle when I shop.
