Anyone with a recommendation for a good shampoo for me. My hair is colored dark brown, but the color isn't lasting great. Some of it is the gray roots, which obviously shampoo isn't going to help. But some I think the color just isn't wearing well and I may need a better shampoo.

I started using Kerastase shampoo/conditioner a few months ago after one of the peas recommended it. The Bain Chroma line is for color treated hair and I am very happy with it. There are different formulations for fine and thick hair types.

Protecting colored hair is also a layered approach. Good quality shampoo and conditioner, a leave-in conditioner (one with heat protectant if you use a hair dryer/iron) and hair oil for the ends.
I use these: 1) Pureology Strength Cure shampoo and conditioner 2) Pureology Color Fanatic Multi-Tasking Leave-In Spray or Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat & UV Protective Primer 3) Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil or Verb Ghost Oil

I’d also make sure you’re getting a good quality color treatment. I also used to have my hair dyed dark brown, and have been letting it grow out since the pandemic started. My hair color has not changed a bit in that timeframe and I’ve been forced to use a non-gentle shampoo a few times. My hair is colored with Aveda coloring and I use their shampoos that are safe for color treated hair, lemme go look up the line for you. Cherry Almond Softening Shampoo. It’s not the line made specifically for color treated hair, I just love the scent and how soft it makes my hair . My hair dresser assures me it’s safe.

I really like Matrix Biolage Colorlast - it really seems to help my color last a bit longer than other shampoos/conditioners I have used.
An added bonus I like about it...the shampoo has a colored top so I can easily tell the shampoo and conditioner apart (which is helpful since I can't read well without my glasses)

Another fan of Biolage for color treated hair. Gem lites color depositing shampoo once a week can also help.

A few times I bought a shampoo instead of a conditioner and have taken the wrong ones on vacation with me.

I've been coloring my hair (blonde) for a loooong time and been using Kérastase products for the past 10+ years. Frequently I have people ask what I use on my hair because it doesn't have that dry, brittle look so many blondes get. That link will take you to their page so that you can see the entire line.

I know you asked for shampoo, but I started using this color depositing conditioner and love it. It's not like having your roots done professionally, but it holds me up for just a little while longer until I can get my roots done. It's called Keracolor and I get it on amazon.
I also have a few glazes I like that keeps the color looking shiny.
Good luck!

Make sure the color is quality to start with. I am colored every 4 weeks, and it takes months for any fading to take place when it’s growing out. Im also a dark brown hair, with lots of gray.
A sulfate free shampoo/conditioner for color treated hair is best. Don’t wash daily, and don’t use hot water.
