I like to watch YouTube scrap videos while I scrap and lately I have noticed in a lot of videos people discuss buying everything in a collection and lots of times doubles of the entire collection. Most of these have been organizing videos where they are showing how their collections are organized. When I say everything, I mean everything. All the ephemera, stickers, chipboard , washi, papers, and the collection packs. I sometimes will buy collection packs and I have a hard time using up the papers and 1 sticker sheet. The only way I think I could even come close to using up that much matching product would be if I was doing an entire album with just using 1 collection. While watching I wonder what they do with their leftovers.
I think I get bored too easily with the same collection to buy too much. It could also be what stage I’m at in my crafting. Right now, I’m taking joy in using some older stuff and getting it out of the stash.
I guess I’m wondering if it is a regular thing to buy all the things in a collection. Even with having a dedicated room for scrapping I don’t think I could work with that much product. I don’t know, mostly I think I’m just having some rambling musings, so feel free to discuss and share your own rambling thoughts.

I learned my lesson years ago with Simple Stories 'Vintage Bliss' ... I loved it and bought the full collection kit and I still have pieces left of it, I will never use it all. So I don't buy whole collections any more. Also I don't end up using the stickers that come with the kits, I love ephemera (diecuts) but I rarely use a sticker. But I will admit if I like a paper I will buy 2, I have even bought 3 of papers I love.

Usually I just buy the collection kit - occasionally I'll add a second piece of a paper if I love both sides. Every once in a great while I'll get an ephemera pack.
I subscribed to the EP kit club for the first 3 or 4 kits, I think it was...back in 2019. I love them but the only one I used up was the Christmas one and only because I used it for cards AND a DD and Christmas layouts. The Autumn one is close to used up but the Spring and Summer ones...I may never finish.

I definitely buy at least two of papers I love, and sometimes of whole collections! I am a double page scrapper, and most LO's require at least three full sheets of paper what with backgrounds and matting, and sometimes more.
Collections I really love, I get the whole meal deal, but most of the time I am happy with the papers and the stickers. Some I feel I HAVE to have the diecuts, but I am learning I use very few of the diecuts.

I think I’ve bought all of a collection once or twice and also found that I got tired of the collection before I came close to using it up. I prefer to just buy a few pieces of paper and then one or two of the accessories.

Not going to lie, I think it would be cool to own an entire collection. As slow and as simple as I scrap, it would take me forever. I prefer to use items from all different collections when I make a page anyway.

I agree that it’s too hard to use an entire collection. My craft room is a daily reminder that I do NOT need it all, even though I rarely (if ever) bought it all for any collection. I may have come close a time or two, but I found it hard to use an entire paper pad, let alone an entire collection.

I only buy a whole prepackaged kit, if I absolutely have to (meaning it's only sold as a whole kit, and not available for individual purchase). My preference is to buy individual items, that way I can pick and choose what I want to purchase and buy multiple of an item if I want to.
If I buy a whole kit or a paper pad, I go through them within days of the purchase and keep what I want and put the rest in the donate bag.
My general rule is if I am purchasing a collection kit or pad, I have to love at least 50% of it. Price is also a factor.
I mix and match brands, colors, patterns, styles.....so I don't worry about having one or two items leftover from whatever the brand. I don't store my products by brand anyways, I store my products by "theme" first and foremost. Anything that doesn't fit into a theme is stored by color, pattern or in the "miscellaneous" binder.

I know a few people who buy the whole collection but most of the people I know buy bits and pieces of the collection, myself included. I generally only buy what I like and what I know will use. If I like it but am not sure I'll use it, I don't buy it. Back in the day, I used to buy all the things and it was too overwhelming to make decisions to make things. I've fortunately figured out a system that works for me now, although I still buy way more than I'll ever use.

It's only during the pandemic that I've watched a couple YT scrap process videos per week when bored. Perhaps the YT content creators are design team members promoting complete collections of the manufacturers/retailers from which they receive free collections (& any additional supplies deeply discounted) as part of that commitment.
In almost two decades, I've NEVER purchased an entire collection because I'm not a collection scrapper & prefer to mix/match various colors/patterns/manufacturers, don't buy paper pads due to the gummy binding, avoid bulky &/or non-archival embellishments, & am theme-challenged. Also, I rarely purchase more than one of the same patterned paper, since I use each sheet sparingly (e.g. in blocks, strips, etc.) across 2+ layouts.

I wondered A) how much room does one have B) how much scrapping does one do C) how much $ does one have and D) why am I concerning myself with this. I cannot imagine myself using the same collection over and over, and over again….there is too much stuff out there already to limit myself to same stuff

I definitely couldn't use up everything in a complete collection, and I don't think I've ever bought a full collection although there are a couple of Cocoa Vanilla lines where I've probably come close. I would have to really, really, love a line to buy everything, and even when I do, I don't typically scrap within a collection, instead preferring to mix and match across multiple lines and manufacturers.
I've seen haul videos where people will share how much they've bought of a line, and I really don't understand the thinking behind buying, for example, two collection packs, or two sets of all the embellishments, when they already have what I consider to be a sizable stash. That said, I am never going to be someone who measures their paper by comparing it to my height, or wants to own a full room of supplies. I have definitely been taking joy in using my older supplies, and actually seeing my overall stash go down ever so slightly. I look at what I own and know it would take me a very, very, long time to use it all up and am at the edge of my comfort zone of stash size, and I can only assume the people who are buying duplicates of a complete line have more space than I do, mentally and physically, for their stash.

Back in the earlier days of 2p’s when the store was attached and design teams and getting published in magazines were a big deal, I was a “buy the collection and two pieces of each paper” scrapper.
Things sold out much quicker back then. Plus many design team members, especially those who were designing for companies would design pages mostly using one collection. I think I spent those first few years emulating those pages as I tried to find my own style, build up my own product collection and get on a design team myself.
Since I have found my style, retired from design team work and have enough product to scrapbook for years, I have become pickier and only buy what I love and know I will actually use. I am on a little bit of a freeze right now since Crop and Create is over.

I use one collection when I do a layout. I don't tend to mix and match unless it is a kit.
When I buy Vicki Boutin collections I usually buy most of it and 2 of each paper. I love most of her papers, both sides, and love to use them. I don't get tired of her stuff. I usually buy most of her embellishments, too.
With a lot of other brand collections I will buy most of the papers except most collections have 2-3 papers I don't like. I usually buy stickers or die cuts, but not both unless I absolutely love that collection. I never buy epoxy because of bad experiences with it. I sometimes buy enamel dots but not often because I have a huge stash of them already. I usually don't buy journaling diecuts but occasionally I do. I don't buy layered embellishments- too expensive for what you get.
But yeah, most of the time when I buy a collection I get 80-90% of the paper and embellishments. I never feel like I have to use up every little part of a collection. I have collections from 15 years ago (like Basic Grey) that I still love to drag out and scrap with. If I like a collection well enough to buy it, I don't tend to get tired of the collection, even 15 years later.

I've never been one to buy an entire collection until literally this week. I've always been a mix-and-match kind of person, and mostly bought paper and very few "accessories" like die-cuts, stickers, etc. A lot of my stuff is kits I've bought on sale, like from Hip Kit on iNSD when they have their 70%/50%/30% off deals and grab bags.
But I did Crop and Create last weekend and really enjoyed using collections. It took a lot of the thinking out of it - I don't find co-ordinating colours easy (even for clothes, I usually ask my husband if my clothes match or else I just wear black - I think it's the hues/undertones thing I have trouble with).
Anyway, I bought most of Paige Evan's latest collection except for things I know I won't use like large, clunky embellishments and washi tape. I'm excited to create with it. This weekend I bought a PinkFresh Collection (Life Right Now) on sale - I bought all of the pieces, I like that PinkFresh doesn't have difficult to use things like pom-poms or leather pieces or whatever clunky thing American Crafts often comes out with.
So, we'll see how this goes, but I'm excited.

Not a regular thing but I have bought an entire collection a few times. Only if it’s one I really really like and would use for multiple projects or I have plans to use the collection for an entire album…..like the Wolf Pack collection I’m using for a mini album of an Alaskan trip. I was never a big paper collector/hoarder so my paper stash is not huge.

I'll buy it if I can get it for a really good price. Then I don't worry if I don't use it all. Generally I'll get the paper, stickers or ephemera, and then one other thing like washi, chipboard or brads. I like a little selection if I really like the paper.

I will buy the entire collection of paper and maybe the stickers and diecuts. I never buy the frames, stamps, or dies. I rarely buy the washi tape.
I will buy the coordinating solid cardstock, if available, if I buy all the paper.

I’m not a matchy everything-the-same scrapbooker. I like a mix of things, so a whole collection just doesn’t feel necessary or appeal to me.
I’ve bought one collection - a Halloween simple stories at Tuesday Morning that was dirt cheap, and I passed a bunch of it to my daughter & used a lot of the papers for some craft projects my kids did that season.
I am interested in buying the whole (or majority!) of that new Disney line coming out, but I’ll be divvying it up amongst many different pages and trip mini albums, and likely sharing with my daughter again.

I have never bought an entire collection. There seems to always been an item or items I don't like or won't use.
I do however stock up on lines I absolutely love. Sometimes it's only 3 of the paper our of the bunch and embellishments.
Sometimes it's almost all the paper and most of the embellishments.
I seem to be super picky about what I like so I buy a lot of what I like. I don't have a dedicated room. I have a nook with 4 Iris containers for paper. Christmas/winter, fall/Halloween, ds, and dd.
Because I moved to pocket page scrapbooking (not DITL/WITH, Project Life), I use bits and pieces for pocket cards.
For Christmas, the bits end up on cards.
I don't fret over tossing what I can't use or bo longer need.

I buy most of a collection pretty frequently. For the past couple of years, I like having everything coordinate so I can pull it out and just start without digging through my stash to make my own kit. I'll get the papers, stickers, ephemera, enamel dots and sometimes lettering. I do look at the embellishments with a critical eye - I know I won't use washi, stamps, stencils, or mixed media items and I check to be sure I'll use about 70-75% of the stickers & ephemera.
I always end up with left over embellishments which gets blended into my stash when I am done with the papers. At some point, I'll purge but it's low on my list of things to do.

Oh and 2 YT persons I follow buy 2 or 3 of entire sets. But they both make cards and notebooks, and interactive flip books that they sell. So they use the entire collection sets they buy.
I can see the need for that for sure.

I've bought multiples of papers I love, but I've never bought a whole collection, let alone two. The only time I could see myself doing that would be if I was planning to scrap a wedding or vacation album that required a coordinated look throughout the whole thing.

When LSSes were a thing I would buy full collections because it was the easiest thing to do to get in and out of a store quickly (I don't like shopping!). Now that I shop online I tend to only buy the individual papers I like and 1 or 2 embellishments with it. If there are things I'm on the fence about I may pick up later if I see on clearance.
