Do you get any kind of credit or $ if I watch the ad, but not buy anything? I have been wondering about that because if the channel gets something out of it, I am willing to let the ad run for some of my favorites. Thanks. Its based on watching the ads, even if you click skip ad after the 5 seconds it still goes towards the revenue. Wait, I’ve been letting ads run all the way through for nothing?!

I stopped watching Vicki B's YouTube Live last night because she started singing "Looking for Love" - the. whole. song. I'll be watching the end of the replay today so that I can skip over the musical interlude.

I have done a ton of research over the years as YT continues to make changes to the platform. (I miss the old recommendations)
My understanding of the vague info regarding ads and revenue is lets say I post a video. On the back end I have some choices to make of what I want to do.
Skippable ads - this is the kind that give an option to skip the ad after 5-6 seconds.
That still pays. Its just a smaller amount compared to a viewer NOT skipping the ad.
Not skipping the ad is a few more pieces of revenue to the channel.
A non-skip ad means you will watch the entire ad before the video starts. This means more revenue towards the channel.
Mid roll ads - again same concepts. Just depends on how many the channel chose to include if any. I wont do them in the middle because as a viewer I do not enjoy the interruption. But I know a channel who got a lot of requests to lower the amount of mid-roll ads and she refused.
So there are lots of small options to change on the back end and to me it comes down to what the channel is trying to accomplish.

That clears it up even further for me bingaling. Thank you so much!
