I teach in public schools and wear one unless I’m eating, even though they are no longer mandatory. Most students here wear them too - which maybe explains why I haven’t yet contracted COVID even though I’m in public schools every weekday.
I also wear a mask in stores - again, most people here do, however about 20% don’t these days.

Nope - DH & I are still wearing masks nearly everywhere when we go out (except if we're outside the whole time). The other day we actually went to a movie theater and we didn't have our masks on while we ate popcorn, but we also weren't sitting near any other people since it was a matinee and not very crowded. I expect we'll continue wearing masks for a good long time yet, and we're both vaccinated and boosted.

Nope. You're not alone. I rarely go anywhere that doesn't require a mask, but when I do, I wear one anyway. More for other people's comfort. I have a terrible cough. Had it for weeks. I'm fully vaccinated and boosted. I've had multiple Covid tests. But I don't want to make people uncomfortable. Plus my immune system isn't the best, so mask it is unless I'm outside and not near strangers.

DH is immunocompromised and works in a nursing home so we mask up, practically everywhere. Even with my mother in the car. Even outside at a burial if we won’t be distanced from people. Though, we wore a KN95 for that for the first time. But the fit wasn’t nearly as good so probably will avoid those if we can. Even at the drive through. In my small Texas town we are by far the minority, I can’t remember the last time I saw someone wear them here. We went into San Antonio for the first time in a long time recently and I was pleasantly surprised to see people still masking. Not a huge number, but more than expected.
We don’t eat out (too hot to eat outside), though we have been a couple of times with people and just wore our masks. And once we ate by ourselves well distanced outside, before it got too hot. And we still aren’t going anywhere with large crowds.
You are not alone.

I wore mine to teach all year (they were mandatory at the university I was visiting). I wear it also pretty much any public place I go. I do get together with vaccinated friends and socialize without masks indoors now, but am keeping an eye on the numbers (I am back at my home university, which got rid of its mask requirement, and is now having an outbreak).

Well, I still have to wear one at work, but I don't wear one any other place. I will be flying tomorrow though and will wear one on the plane. I hate how people are always hacking and coughing on planes.

DS's college graduation is next week, so for the past two weeks, I've returned to wearing a mask in public--stores, yoga, gym--just to do whatever I can not to let Covid get in the way of experiencing it.

We still have a mask mandate here for public transport and certain businesses (medical offices, pharmacies). Some other places also ask that you wear one (my nail salon is one). At school, masks are no longer required, but still recommended. I wear one while we are inside, but take it off on the playground. I mostly wear one when grocery shopping, as I go to the supermarket on the underground, so it's just easier to keep it on.

I mask most of the time indoors. I did go in bath and body works without one but was going to smell things otherwise would have worn one - it was a stand alone store not in a mall. I usually only go into stores when they first open to avoid crowds and think that’s when others that are masking shop.
It’s hit or miss if others are wearing them or not. If at all compromised I wouldn’t take it off.

I am wearing mine less these days. We travelled to Italy twice recently and had to have KN95 face masks for flights and were asked to wear them a lot more than we currently are in England. I wear mine in the hairdressers and beauty salon and I wear one in smaller stores but not large 'open' ones like the supermarket although I rarely go into one these days because I’m still using Click and Collect.
I'm sorry your DH's friend was offended, that's unfair.

I am in Europe now and have seen possibly one or two elderly people wearing a mask. At home in the States, maybe 25-30% of the people do.

I don't wear one as much as I used to but do wear one in certain places where I know I will be in close contact with other people - tube/small shops etc. I see quite a lot of people that still do. I don't often go into a supermarket nowadays as I still have my main shop delivered. I will continue with that arrangement as it's more convenient and I used to hate food shopping even before covid hit. Carry on wearing one RedSquirrelUK if it makes you feel safer. It really doesn't have anything to do with anyone else. I'm sorry that your DH's friend didn't understand the reason why you wanted him to wear one in your car, especially with his wife having only recently finished chemo herself. That wasn't very understanding of him at all.

It’s often missed, though I was told about 10% of people with asthma have it, often only showing up after a cold, or sometimes in very cold weather. No restricted breathing. It took a fourth pulmonologist to diagnose me correctly after I once coughed for 8 months, and had even been hospitalized. And he guessed what was wrong in a couple of minutes. After using two standard inhalers, the next day I was about 85% better. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve run into that have had the same thing happen - weeks or longer of coughing, including a nurse at Johns Hopkins, of all places.

still mask in stores and all indoor venues. took my son to cirque du soliel for his bday last week. maybe only 20-25% of people had masks on - this is a *big* shift here - our mask mandates just ended in march.
we wore masks. i had covid at easter. i posted on twitter about going to cirque and said i have not heard of a single person irl that has been commented to about still masking, like why would other people *care* what someone else does? someone replied "if you just had covid in april, why mask, are you worried you will get it again?'.
i replied that it appears past infection doesn't offer much protection against new variants. but aside from that, i still have a lingering cough and wouldn't want to take the risk of infecting anyone else. it really isn't hard to wear a mask. shrug.
i would feel weird walking in store without one. it's been 2 years for us, can't just unbreak that habit overnight. nor do i feel ready to.

I am Vaxxed and boosted...and STILL wear a mask!!! I will not go into a store...especially the grocery store without a mask....basically because the general public is stupid.....I don't know where they are coming from any more than they know where I am coming from!

DH just pointed out to me that our bag of masks in the car is nearly empty, so apparently you are not the only one still wearing them. And I know that at least my youngest still wears a mask to school every day. I have no idea how many, if any, other students are still wearing them. I'll have to ask.

NO, you're not alone, but we are certainly starting to make up the minority! My work lifted masking requirements about a month ago, 90% stripped them off the moment they got the news, We are down to about 3 of us wearing them consistantly (in a customer facing busy environment). I wear mine everywhere.

I feel the same way. My family is still masking. And glad we are as numbers swing up again. And those are reported cases.

It’s decreasing but I’d say about 30% of people are masking inside the super market. I’m not really masking at all anymore, but I also don’t feel like I’m in crowded situations. I flew last weekend and didn’t mask, I’m flying again today and won’t unless I’m sitting next to someone and then I will.

I still wear a mask when I go inside, shopping, library, etc. when I’m outside I don’t wear one. I will say that I am one of the few still wearing one. I will go to restaurants so I realize there is a risk. My kids are also in school, the high schooler doesn’t wear a mask, the 2nd grader does wear a mask. Continue to do what makes you comfortable and I don’t think anyone should get offended if you hand them a mask.

At least 50% of the people in the area where I live are still wearing masks - perhaps more so now than a few months ago.

Took off their masks just to eat. She caught Covid. She had just gotten second booster four days before so not long enough to be effective. Last I heard he was negative.

I'm sitting on the bench w/you. As a high risker I wear my mask when I'm out shopping. At the grocery store, I use medical gloves, too. There's an uptick around here and I don't want to be part of it.
