I'm in the US for a mini vacation and I stopped in at Joann today. I heard they carried Paige Evan's collections. When I picked up some patterned paper there it felt really, really thin - not at all like the paper I get from scrapbook stores online. Do they get a cheaper version of American Crafts paper there? Or was it just my imagination and it's the same? I ended up not buying anything.

Joanns has a 'regular' line of paper of various themes that is thinner and usually one sided. But their 'designer' section paper has always been the regular AC thickness in the past. I haven't heard about Paige's release already being in stores, but I guess its possible.

I may go to another Joann tomorrow so I'll have to look further and see if i can find the regular AC. Paige's Splendid Collection isn't it Joann yet but I was hoping to find a few pieces from her previous collections - on the app it shows some stock left of bits and pieces.

For the last collection, it will be in a little section all by itself with the embellishments hanging above the paper racks. Good luck finding some if you go back!

My local J’s never has the good paper. Just the thin stuff.

I think if you search online there's a list of which Js carry the designer collections. Might be worth a look to make sure the store you are visiting is a "designer" store.

As of last week, the JoAnn stores near me were still clearancing out last year's Designer Destination papers.
I'm wondering where the new papers are! I'm pretty sure it's been over a year since the last merchandise changeover.

Thanks everyone for all the help. I had no idea there were special Joann stores. I think there are 2 or 3 Joanns near where I am staying so hopefully one of them is a good one!

At my Jo Ann's, the previous designer papers are still being clearanced out. Some are in the spot where the papers are all displayed with the embellishments, but some are in the big clearance section in the back of the store, too. So maybe check the clearance section if the store you're in has one!

I think if you look up the items that interest you on their website, it'll tell you whether they're in stock at any store in your area. Try a few different search routes though, and different key words. If I recall correctly, the website there is kind of disorganized.

Thanks everyone! I ended up not being able to find anything, and now it's time to go back to Canada. Oh well, I'll be in Florida in August so I'll go on the hunt again then.

marg, my JA is a "Designer Destinations" location, however I have noticed something weird as well. There is the DD section, where American Crafts are sold and the paper is the heavyweight LSS type that we expect. Embellishments that coordinate are sold there too. Then, mixed in with all the other sheets of thin papers are the exact same sheets that are sold in the DD section, only flimsy. Branding strip still states, "Jen Hadfield Hey Hello" or whatever designer/collection, but it is not the same thickness of paper. I brought both sheets to the register and they both rang up the same when I was shopping and the cashier could not tell me why one was sturdy "good" paper and the other one was like the flimsy paper we all know and hate. But the exact same pattern.

But the exact same pattern. Yeah, it's strange. I ordered some individual AC papers from my local JoAnn's once (Paige Evans, Amy Tangerine) and the sheets were nice and thick. However, when I physically went into the store to shop on the open-stock paper section, all they had were the copy-paper thin papers.
