My favourite site for colour palettes was design-seeds.com . I went to check it out today and found to my dismay that it has been closed down, and only a few colour palettes remain on the site. This is an example of what you used to be able to see on the site, and they had hundreds of colour palettes grouped into seasons:
Does anyone know of any similar sites that show mood boards or colour palettes similar to this? TIA!

Well, I have a bunch of the old design-seeds swatches saved on my Pinterest pins, LOL...but that's probably not what you're looking for! I was really sad to see that one go, as I also used it for swatch/color palette ideas. As an alternative, I've used the Paletton site ( LINK). It's not the same type of thing as design seeds where it just shows lots of different palettes, but instead it's a tool with an interactive color wheel where you can choose settings (monochromatic, tertiary, complementary, etc.) and move around the color wheel to get a whole palette of shades based on your chosen settings. It's really fun to play with!! You can also look at preset palettes based on your initial settings or even choose colors freestyle and play around with them to tweak your choices. Lots of options, and there are some color theory tips too. ETA: There's also Canva ( LINK), which has color swatch ideas. One more is Color Palettes (this one is very similar to design seeds, but not as extensive).

Unfortunately, many of these free colour scheme websites have closed over the past years. If you're looking to extract from an existing photo, TinEye Labs is still up. If you just want random colour inspiration, take a look at For the Love of Color blog, Color Collective (using fashion as their inspiration), Colors Tumblr blog, Colorpalette. Tools-wise, Stylify Me will extract colours from a website (just paste the URL in the top box), Color Calculator finds colour harmonies based on the colour wheel theory (oh-so practical!), Palette Generator to extract colours from an existing image (with a bar to adjust the number of dominating colours to display), Khroma to play the "50 favourite colours for inspo" game (there's a palette tool), Happy Hues to play around with changing an existing palette and get complementary colours automatically show and suggested. A different take on the colour palette game is this small indie project by a creator I very much admire in my industry, Color Claim, where you can download the colour palette straight from a dropbox file to add to your PS/Illustrator. Not sure how often it's being updated these days as I've only just remembered this. I usually use pro tools so it's been some time since I went scouting the free tools. Many fallen soldiers. Hope these first suggestions help you scratch your colour catch a bit. I'm sure other Peas will know of more traditional photo + colour palette inspo sites!

I just thought of Fab Mood. They have those regular photo + colour palette pictures you enjoyed from Design Seeds. I hooked you up with the regular inspiration section in the URL but if you use the "Color inspiration" tab in the menu, you'll see more themed collections (Wedding + Home with subsections).

Wow, thanks everyone for so many great links (especially sleepingbooty who came up with some ace sites, so many new to me!) I teach a course which contains a section on colour theory and am always keen to find and discover new suggestions with fresh ideas for presentation and resources. These will keep me going for a while :-)

I love the variety and quality of free colour-centric (and other!) tools and spaces available online. Just glad I could share a few!

The CSI Challenge site that grammadee recommended is fun to check out. They've been around for awhile and I think you can still access the older color challenges. One of the participants used to be Debbie Tehrani and she posted such beautiful l/o's. I'll have to check out some of the sites that sleepingbooty mentioned. Thanks for the suggestions.

www.canva.com/It's the same as the top post. The free version works great but they will of course advertise the paid version, but the free version will do what your OP showed 😀
