I went through my Distress and Oxides to see if I thought I was “missing” anything. I don’t think I am.
So this color would really have to knock me off my feet to purchase it.

When I look at just Distress colors on their shelf, I agree. I keep all my ink swatches together though. It’s been interesting to look through and see where other brands have a certain color but Distress doesn’t. If I recall, there isn’t a buttery pale yellow Distress color whereas I do have it with Lawn Fawn. Regardless of the color, I’ll be buying the ink and oxide pads as well as the pin. Full Set Syndrome it tough!

I've been organizing my collection this week -- my guess is it will be a neutral like a grey color.

Today's the day! My vote is something red just because I saw HS talk about how to make the perfect red by blending an oxide and an archival ink.

I mean, you said blue and my brain got stuck on this classic musical gem: So, sure, I'll go for "Da Ba Dee Blue" for the next shade... I guess Tim had the same on his mind 🤣 not the name although...

It looks like a blue with gray undertones to me. Not sure it’s something I’m going to be adding to my collection right now since I have so many blues already.

Wow, I so do NOT need that colour - It may be a little greyer, but I have chipped sapphire and faded denim and lots of other navy inks and this seems like a real rehash! I guess I'm glad? ?

It's pretty, but I have so many blues I don't really need this right now.

The yellow tone to this blue is pretty prominent in the unsprayed version. Interesting to see that warmth recede a bit once the water hits it. Unsprayed, it just looks like a darker Broken China to me. The comparison swatches helped to remind me how much I love Mermaid Lagoon and should just get it (sorry Uncharted Mariner). But also, excuse me, Da Ba Dee Blue >>>> Uncharted Mariner.

Well I don't have the entire collection so I'm unclear on how this color translates to colors he's already put out. But I rather like this color. It is very pretty IMO. I'll be considering either the oxide ink pad or the spray.

I love the new color! Blue is my favorite color, so that could partly be why.

I think it's super pretty. Blue is my weakness and I'd like to get both the Distress Oxide and Distress Ink pads at some point.

I just checked Jenn Shurkus on Instagram. She swatched all the blues. I can see where this new one fits in. I don’t know how to link on my phone but take a look. The color makes a lot more sense lined up with all the other blues.

I hadn't bought any of his inks until recently when some of my discontinued inks dried up.

It sure does more for me than salt water taffy. I like the color but it is not on the must have immediately list like speckled egg.

They are similar enough for me that I think just having Salty Ocean is fine. shurkus.com/tutorial/new-distress-uncharted-mariner

I watched the replay of the release Live and TH is very good at telling you how much you need it, isn’t he?! (and if you think you don’t you just don’t get it 🙄 ). It’s a really lovely color and it definitely is different than the other blues and greens when he showed the swatches. I have several of the related blues and so I started to think maybe I should add this one. Whenever I watch these lives these are the thoughts that go through my mind: - ooh, I love colors! - I prefer the pure Distress colors and yet my drawer is half full of Oxides. Why? (because he convinced me they were the BEST) - should I just get the spray stains or Distress re-inkers - go straight to the color source? - oh yeah, I need re-inkers for some of my CP inks… ugh! $$$ and space - patterned paper is so much easier to use and a lot less messy. - maybe I should give away my Oxides…? Lol. Tim’s deep blush when Mario showed off his distressing mariner outfit did make it worth crafting through the live until the end

Thank you guys for posting the links so I could see the side by side comparisons. I was especially wanting to see it next to prize ribbon because that is one of my favs. I think I will be adding this color.

They are similar enough for me that I think just having Salty Ocean is fine. They do look a lot alike! I had bought a four pack of mini distress inks from Joann and that was the blue color (Mermaid Lagoon).

Thank you for posting those samples. Of those, I only have salvaged patina. Obviously I am slacking. But if I am going to add a dark blue I much prefer faded jeans and chipped sapphire to uncharted mariner. I mean it’s a pretty color, but the other two seem more like colors I would use/go with things I have.

Lol. Tim’s deep blush when Mario showed off his distressing mariner outfit did make it worth crafting through the live until the end That was the funniest Tim moment I’ve ever seen. I showed just that part to my DH who doesn’t know Tim from Adam, but even he laughed. Favorite sentence: “I just have to form words.” LOL Oxides are my desert island inks. If I only could have one type of ink Oxides would have it. Once Oxides came out poor Distress inks felt abandoned. But when I start card making again I’m determined to incorporate them more. Actually I have used both on a couple cards—Oxides as more painterly stamping and background but Distres Walnut Stain(?) very lightly over parts to tone down the brightness and give it a more vintage look. We did that in a live class, not my idea, but I loved it.
