I LOVE this color (at least so far...haven't seen it in person yet) and will definitely use it. I thought it was too much to hope for a more teal-toned blue, so this is a definite purchase for me. Teal is my favorite color. I already have Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers, so it will be fun to play with Uncharted Mariner in the mix.

That’s like not liking chocolate. How can it be!?! 😉 I’m fine with the color but will see if it actually fills a gap. I have a theory—and they are often wrong—that sometimes loving Oxides has to do with how someone learned to use them. I was lucky because an extremely talented instructor taught a workshop at an LSS when the first colors came out. It was a small class so got plenty of help. She also wrote a meaty handout. Oxides kind of remind me of paint without the mess or gloppiness. I’ve wondered if I hadn’t taken that class, if I’d love them so much. And btw, I often don’t use water with them. They just blend like butter for backgrounds or die cuts. And agree re choices. I had a lot of Copics because I thought I should like coloring. But I didn’t even like it when a kid. I took some classes to make sure it wasn’t that I couldn’t use them. Then I got rid of them. Some people were shocked. I love the oxides but I have a heck of a time with regular distress inks. I only have the regular distress inks in the mini cubes so maybe that’s the issue. I just cannot get them to blend. I can't/couldn't get them to blend even in the big size. They are just harder to blend with. The ones I have, I use to watercolour with.

I heard Shimelle accidentally call this salvaged mariner and then unchartered mariner, close but slightly different than uncharted... In my head I call it distressed mariner. I'm curious what other mistaken names it will get

I have to keep dismissing it and have to mentally reach for the word mariner. *not on purpose

I think the name is silly - a mariner is a person- land/sea get charted. The name doesn’t work for me The colour is pretty though- not sure if I will get it I think of it as a mariner who got lost at sea, became quite ill, and was picked up after a good week of rolling in the waves on a tiny lifeboat surrounded by hammerhead sharks. He gets to the hospital by a Flight for Life helicopter and lands at a very busy emergency room. They pull him into one of the tiny rooms and begin pumping him full of life sustaining fluids. His nurse runs off to answer the call of a code blue across the hallway. She never writes down the fluids the mariner received. After the code blue situation is taken care of, the nurse gets called to another emergency and the ER doctor walks into the mariner's room. He looks through the mariner's incomplete paper work and declares, "What is the deal with this uncharted mariner?" Name totally works for me! I love the color after spending a day or two trying to decide if I needed it. I have a 12 x 12 wave stencil I want to use and this will make an excellent base.

And my next thought was that Scott of Card Cut-Ups would so appreciate this! If you don’t know Scott, he’s all about puns.

Second, OT but can you share a link for the wave stencil? I was just looking at a small one (didn't buy yet), but would love a 12x12 version.

Just got my distress oxide in the mail yesterday. The color on my screen does not do this ink justice. It looks way more navyish blue online but in person it's a gorgeous deep teal color! I really like it and can see now how it fits in the color family it does.

So many colors! Since I'm not a stamper, I've only bought a few colors of the Distress Inks. To begin with I bought Distress Ink in Vintage Photo, Black Soot, and Peeled Paint. And now that there are Distress Oxide Inks, I've been buying a couple colors at a time. I can see how this might become an addiction. Thank you scrappyesq for the link to Jenn Shurkus - I spent an hour there! It's so hard to pick just a few colors, but the comparisons really do help.

💙💙💙 Ordered it, and it will be here today. It’s absolutely gorgeous! There are a few colors I have that are very close to others that I don’t have, so I probably won’t be adding them, but this one is a must have for me!

KikiPea the glazes are awesome! They are translucent which I prefer because the color is so pretty! You can use on paper, metal, wood and more. There is a video showing how to use the glazes on Tim's youtube channel and is very helpful!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkiLJf000Y0&t=2994s
