Laura's husband passed away suddenly this week. He was the solo bread winner so money becomes a big issue like grieving does. She has such a nice personality and has been great when I have interacted with her. I am posting a link to the Facebook post but also posting the text for those who doesn't have Facebook. I know how great the scrapbook community is for showing up for people so wanted to let everyone know. Sara Scraps @ sara.scraps Is collecting cards if you would like to help out there. I believe you can contact her directly on Instagram. m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0E4DSKMZmQhuJqNYo6B1Z5Hu6BAYmrcX27MQS1v16bpt2Fy7dsNoMvbiDLgGh6qZvl&id=620215256&sfnsn=mo_---------------- I am so overwhelmed with gratitude to everyone reaching out to offer help. The kids and I have a long road ahead of us and a lot of challenges to face, but our biggest short-term need is financial. We need to maintain our household expenses, get groceries, buy summer clothes, etc until we can get back on our feet. Please don’t feel in any way obligated. I struggle to ask for help, but for my kids I will. Russell was our sole income and the stress of looming due dates is making this loss all the more difficult to handle. Thank you for the love and support, prayers and thoughts. Those certainly help too. PayPal: paypal.me/EducatewithUsborne?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US (select friends/family) Venmo: venmo.com/code?user_id=3544936276296979164&created=1653416155.191932&printed=1Kroger is our local grocery store for those that asked.

[Per your link, the YTer in need is Laura ALBERTS. Perhaps correcting her name in the thread subject line will generate more views. HTH.]
My heartfelt condolences are offered to her & her children.

I saw that on her instagram. I cannot even imagine the pain and stress she is going through right now. I will definitely send a card with a gift card in it. She has a great Youtube channel too, maybe people could just run her videos in the background and let the ads run so she can get a little revenue from there too if you can't financially help her at this time.

Great suggestion! Scrappers could also binge watch her videos this long (US) holiday weekend. Personally, I don’t recognize her name or image (since I rarely watching YT), so I plan to check out her channel.

scrappinchar thank you for sharing this info. I heard about Russell's passing when Laura first posted it. I just wasn't sure it was my place to be the one to share the news here. I admit I kept popping on looking to see if anyone had posted.

This is a really sad situation. She has 5 children. Several have autism on some level including her two youngest twins. Social media and scrapbooking at its best allows us to share our lives with like-minded people near and far.
I’m gonna say it: I’d like to see the industry help Laura and her family like they did for the Karchners who needed nothing and received way too much.

I hope her dh had a good plan through work. And many states have programs for those with Autism - insurance coverage, medical, therapy, food, etc.

The first thing I though of was the OTT outpouring of cash for the Katchner’s, who did not need it.

Maybe I should reach out to Ms dear lizzy and ask her for her help on getting the word out about Laura since so many people were there for her from the scrapping community. She could pay it forward. Thoughts?

Maybe I should reach out to Ms dear lizzy and ask her for her help on getting the word out about Laura since so many people were there for her from the scrapping community. She could pay it forward. Thoughts? She should. But I have my doubts that she will. How upset will you be if you reach out and get ignored? I tried reaching out to lots of people to help someone who was trying to get cancer treatment and it really soured me, showed how little people care if it's not someone they're already connected with. Like, not even willing/able to look at the account and share a post on IG Stories apathetic/busy. I feel like you've probably got nothing to lose except some emotional energy so why not ask? But I wouldn't get my hopes up. Maybe reaching out to all the scrappy celebs who supported DL would be a good idea even though 90% won't do a thing. Especially if there's not an easy IG post or go fund me link to share - someone would have to be willing to do the hard work of setting up the "campaign" so that everyone else can quickly share a link and gush about the tragedy of it. It sounds like Laura may be handling this like a regular person, quietly grieving and loathe to ask for help from random strangers. That makes it harder to scale the call for help.

I saw she had a new Youtube video up, I'm wondering if she had it done before all this happened and just uploaded it per her schedule? I didn't watch it yet but was planning to watch later.

She pinned a comment saying it was pre-recorded and scheduled earlier in the month. The photos she's using are of a zoo trip her husband went on with their kids

Maybe because I have always worked I have often wondered how some crafters manage to live so well with a couple kids and one income. I hope she can receive some help to get on her feet. She may have to eventually downsize, I know she must be in shock and I feel badly for her.

Laura was on our design team for a while and we love her and her work. If anyone would like to mail her a physical card (and/or gift card) we're collecting them and will pass them along. Details here.
