Wimbledon’s decision to ban the Russian/Belarusian players surprised me. Honestly, I thought they’d leave it to the government to be the heavy’s, if that was the decision. Then I was surprised again when the WTA and ATP stripped the points I just don’t know how to feel about this, at all. I do know I feel for all the players, whether they are Russian/Belarusian and banned or those who have points to defend and their ranking will drop
The only player I’ve seen so far who has said they probably won’t play because of the points is Naomi Osaka. I suspect there will be more.

Why should professional athletes be exempt when there are many sanctions being leaved that are impacting the daily lives of regular Russians? You are Russian you pay the price for what your country is doing to Ukraine.

I'd kick out all the Russians from the NHL who refuse to renounce Putin, too. They should've immigrated to North America when they came to play here, and brought their families.

Yup. Agree. Toodeloo Ruskies. Go home. You don't get to participate on the world stage just because you're an "athlete". We all know how "athletes" are treated in the USSR/Russia.
Bye.
Goes for China too. TTFN. Be a participating, cooperating part of bettering the world or go sit in your blow hole alone.

Brittney Griner has been “detained” in Russia on trumped up charges since February 17th. If you want to feel badly for an athelete, feel for her.

If we don't put pressure on all parts of their participation on the world stage, sanctions don't work. They have to hurt. I feel badly for them, but that's what you get for playing for a country led by a cretin like Putin.

There's still a ton of prize money and the title of Wimbledon champion is nothing to sneeze at.

Trust me, I’m horrified for Brittney Griner, and terribly worried. To add to it, I wish WNBA players were paid more so they didn’t feel the need to play in Russian leagues

I’m in favor,of the ban and my enjoyment of Wimbledon will be greater if Djoker isn’t allowed to play due to being an anti vacxer.
