The other thread about CS for printing has me wondering about a printer that will accept heavy CS. My Epson XP-440 works great, but the only CS it will accept is lighter, think Bazzill and the like, like 60-65 pound….even though it feeds from the rear. I’d love to be able to run Neenah 80 pound, or even the heaviest Neenah 110lb/297gsm (is that even possible). To be able to print directly on a heavy card base would be heavenly!
Any suggestions? That don’t break the bank? I rarely use a printer, so cost is definitely a factor.
Thanks so much from this non-techy, mind starts to wander when reading specs girl. ❤️

Per a quick Google search, the maximum paper weight for most desktop printers is 80 lbs & only multifuction copiers with a bypass tray can handle 100+ lbs. … My Epson XP-440 works great, but the only CS it will accept is lighter, think Bazzill and the like, like 60-65 pound….even though it feeds from the rear. Thank you for your information. Before I posted I googled something like “best home printer for heavy cardstock” and it sounded like it was a possibility. I’ll have to do some more looking. Bummer if i misunderstood. Meanwhile, if anyone here happens to have good experiences with a printer and heavy CS, I’m all ears! The gsm of my bazzill must be lower than my 80lb Neenah. Their thicknesses aren’t the same.

I'm pretty sure I've printed on Neenah 110 with my Canon TS9120, using the rear feed. I definitely use 80lb regularly. It doesn't have to bend/flex much to get through the path of the printer so I can't see any reason it would be a problem. If I remember correctly I did a commissioned grad announcement project on 110lb cs and nothing bad happened. I think I had to do it in batches of 5 or 10 sheets to accommodate how much would fit in the rear feed tray but I made about 100 and the printer is just fine.
80lb Neenah feeds easily. I often print sentiments to avoid having to buy stamp sets for one-off card projects.
The Canon Pixma type printers have been great for us. Our previous printer brand used to fail all the time, especially because we didn't use it often. It would waste tons of ink and then when we really needed something printed it wouldn't actually work. (For a while I swore I would never buy another home printer). We print at home more now but regardless of how often we print the Canons have been very reliable for photo and day to day printing.

Thank you both! I’ll look into Canon printers.
