I'm pretty sure I got this recipe from the old 2Peas boards way back in the day. My kids loved it, but I've since lost it. Kids have since grown up, but the middle DD was just asking for the recipe.
Anyone? I'm pretty sure it involved chicken breasts, cream cheese and Italian dressing mix. To be served over pasta. I don't know what else was in it.

Cream of chicken soup and a stick of melted butter plus the ingredients you listed. I never used butter in mine. I added half a can of water to the cream of chicken soup.

Thank you ladies! I'll pass on the ingredients to my DD for her to try since she has a craving for it.

casii Off the top of my head, this is close to the original recipe. You'll need two chicken breast halves or several tenders cut into small chunks. Place chicken pieces in a covered roasting pan. Melt about 3/4 cube of butter and pour over the chicken. Sprinkle one whole package of Good Seasons Italian dressing mix over the chicken. Cover and bake at 350 for about 35 to 40 minutes. While chicken cooks, soften one 8 oz. pkg. of cream cheese and mix with one can of cream of chicken soup. Prepare about 12 oz. fettuccine noodles. When chicken is done, add the drained noodles and the cream cheese/soup mixture to the chicken. Stir and heat on low until dish has rewarmed. (Stir several times while warming.) I usually add a bit of milk or cream as I prefer a saucier dish.

I made a similar one twice in the instant pot. Cube several chicken breasts. Season with S&P. Add a layer of fresh mushrooms sliced up. Top with a box of penne pasta. Mix 1 can tomato paste with 3/4 cup Olive Garden dressing. Pour over. Add a whole block of cream cheese on the top. Sprinkle Italian spice blend over. Pour one carton of chicken broth over it all. Cook 8 minutes at pressure. Let sit 5 more minutes before you vent and take the top off. Stir it all together and enjoy!

Here's the original recipe I posted back in the day:
Italian Crock Pot Chicken
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (whole or cut into bite-sized pieces) 1 can cream of chicken soup 1/2 stick BUTTER (tastes better than marg.) 1 env. dry Italian dressing mix 1 (8oz) pkg cream cheese, room temperature
Melt butter, pour over chicken in crock pot. Sprinkle with dry Italian dressing mix. Cover, and cook on high for 3-4 hours. Blend soup and cream cheese, pour over chicken for last 1/2 hour.* Serve over angel hair or your choice of pasta.
*when I add the soup and cheese, I take the chicken out, blend the soup/cheese into the pot contents until creamy, and return chicken for the last 1/2 hr.

That looks like the one. Now I'm kind of hungry for it again. LOL Editing to add that I love how it's still in our heads in pretty close variations. Means it tastes good!

Oh, it's plate-lickin' good! Rich and calorie laden, of course but it's not like you'll be eating it every day. It's been one of our favorites for years.

I think I need to try this- how does the uncooked pasta turn out in the IP??

how does the uncooked pasta turn out in the IP?? Perfect. I was skeptical too, but I have two IP recipes that call for just dumping the pasta in and both come out just fine. The other one is shrimp alfredo.

You know what else I like? A packet of Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning and some small cut up pieces of butter on top of boneless chicken pieces, baked in the oven with a lid for about 40 min. It's so easy, not quite as rich, and really tasty with some green beans and little potatoes.
And, don't tell anyone that my Midwest is showing, but a can of cream of onion soup over chicken and topped with French's fried onions, baked in the oven with a fresh layer of onions added at the last 5 min so they're crisp, is one of the easiest things I make and we all love it.

I make a version of this (my mom and kids love it). I don’t think I add butter, but, I do add white wine to cut the richness, I use 2 packets of Zesty Italian Dressing mix, then at the end of cooking I add the cream cheese, fresh lemon juice, green onions, and a handful of grated Parmesan.
We serve over white rice with broccoli on the side.
