For those who have stencils for card making, do you store them in the OG packaging or out?
Is it okay to store them out of the packaging?
I am using DS cart we used for home schooling as tomorrow is his last day and he goes back to site next year. (3 tier craft cart from Michael's).
I am using Sterilite large fliptop containers (I know they fit as I use them to DDs infusion cart) and the stencils lay flat if out of the packaging but lay at an angle if in the packaging. I don't want them to get bent.
I am new to stenciling and so I want to make sure they are kept safe.

I store them without the packaging. I just watched Tim Holtz studio tour and he stores them on a metal ring, without packaging. he then just hangs them on a hook.

I store mine in flimsy 45 rpm record pockets. Records as in vinyl records. Well, except for the much bigger stencils. A piece of dark paper is in each pocket so I can more easily see the stencil. A piece of the packaging that includes the company and stencil name are put behind the paper.
They’re in a bin now, but I may change that.

I only have a few but I keep them in page protectors in a ring binder. Getting them in and out of the packaging is a pain, page protectors are easier to flip through. I’m most likely to damage them while cleaning or drying them after inking.

I buy 6 3/4 x 9 clear storage pockets on Amazon (100 for $15ish) and store them in a metal basket I’ve had. When I had them unprotected (like Tim), several were always getting hung up or caught on each other. This works for me. I have them sorted by type. I have a lot of stencils. 😄

I have a cute vintage 45 holder, like a little suitcase, I’d like to justify keeping 😀

I store mine in the XL stamp storage pockets in the same storage system (JMcG's) as my stamps.

I have an old post bound album that I was given--it isn't something I would ever use and wasn't in the greatest shape, so I put my stencils in there. It's easy to flip through, compact and they stay protected.

I store everything in a couple of 3 ring binders in varying sizes of page protectors. I used to place a piece of cardstock behind them, but it causes too much weight.

Thank you @cardboxer! Love when I can justify my collections (hoarding?) 😀

I don't use 12x12 stencils so all of mine are small. I use this: card holderIt is really good for taking to retreats because I take out all of the dividers except one, put the stencils behind that one, and store my inks in the rest of the holder.

I keep mine in a 6x8 three ring binder. Black cardstock in page protectors and two stencils back to back in each one.
