Update: I unfriended. Life is too short.
********
This is almost too stupid to post but I’m doing it anyway.
I have 7 days left at a job that I love but can’t continue to do and be able to look at myself in the mirror. It’s a public online charter school and long story short, at best they are unethical and at worst doing illegal things. I’m writing a letter to the school board and state department of education to send on my last day outlining the issues and then I’m done.
But there’s one person, who up until recently, I would have considered a friend. Our DD’s are the same age, we adopted a dog from the litter they were fostering, were co-team leaders, just to name a few things. That was, until I finally put my money where my mouth was and resigned. She has not talked to me or acknowledged me once. Even more, there are things I said about the issues at our school that got back to admin that I only said to her while doing team planning, etc. Do I have proof she told them, no. But my gut says it is. I don’t really care that it got back to them that I was talking about it because I would have said it them if they ever looked beyond themselves.
When I walk away next Thursday, I just want to be free from the negative crap from this toxic place. And I want to unfriend her from Facebook. My DH says I’m being passive aggressive and should talk to her. I don’t want to. Not because I’m afraid of having hard conversations but I just don’t want to. I said, “Fine. I’m asking the peas.”
I can unfriend her, right? If you say no, why?

By not talking with you or acknowledging you, hasn't she already essentially unfriended you?
Go ahead and make it official.

I vote unfriend.
Sometimes it's necessary to >> toss that match, burn that bridge, and don't look back.

In this instance, I would simply unfriendly and block.
Now if this was a person I would see on the regular and had other friends with, I would talk with her.
Maybe she is hurt you are leaving her to deal with the issues. Maybe you were her only friend there.
There could be a validity reason she is acting the way she is.
But since you want to be clean of them, just move on.

There could be a validity reason she is acting the way she is. there is absolutely no reason for any grown adult to ever act this way. Those are middle school mean girl antics. OP - unfriend and block.

OP - unfriend and block. Adults do. With valid reasons. Some adults have a hard time processing change. Others have social emotional challenges. Others are very shy. Some have executive functioning disorder and have a difficult time starting a conversation. So yeah. Eta: and it is also very adult like to ask. It goes both ways sometimes.

With friends like that you don’t need enemies. I too would have kicked her to the curb. Bye, Felicia!

Personally, I think unfriending someone is a definite sign that you don’t want to be friends. She might be hot right now but might cool down and want to talk to preserve the friendship. But I feel if you unfriend then you’re the one stating that the friendship is over.
That’s fine if that’s what you want. But I don’t think you can say she ended the friendship. I think it’s you who ends it.

I think when you have no emotions regarding the end of a friendship OR you just don't have the energy to continue it...it's done.
I have very little extra time in my life and although I don't see all my friends on a regular basis, I do find the time to stay in touch. So if you don't feel that way, that says a lot.
Unfriend, don't feel guilty and move on!

There is nothing in your post that makes me believe that you were ever friends. You state that you worked together, your kids happened to be the same age, and you adopted a dog from a litter they had. None of that is a friendship. It is a cordial relationship brought about by proximity.

Unfriend her and move on.
I will add that she may feel as though you are threatening her livelihood since it sounds like you intend to try to take the school down after you leave by writing the Board of Education, etc. I am not saying that you are wrong, or that you shouldn’t do exactly as you planned, but that she may see you as a literal threat to her job. That part may frighten and anger her - she may not be able to simply walk away from her job for a variety of reasons, and may view you as trying to make her life harder. I might feel the same way if I was in her shoes and tied to the job.
This is conjecture on my part, but something is up if she is “telling on you” to the administration.
All that said, you should still do all you were planning to do to address the ethics issues. You should also unfriend her on FB, because she has already unfriended you for whatever reasons.

Seriously, she’s already told you with her actions that you are no longer friends. Cut ties, move on! Best of luck!

Walk away from toxicity & try not to look back. Do what is right for you at this time.
You could always ‘hide’ or mute her for 30 days. When I did that when the 30 days expired they have not been on my feed. I only see them if I go looking.
But if you want to unfriend go ahead & do it

By her lack of communication with you, her supposed friend, SHE has already unfriended YOU. Save yourself the stress of directly confronting her. Do the same and walk away.

Glad to read that you went through with the unfriending and blocking. Don't look back. Her behaviour shows that she was not a true friend.
