Perfect timing for DS's trip! At one point the tour company was saying to plan up to $250 for a test (but would likely be less, was down to $35-50 last I heard but still ridiculous when so few other countries required one).

About time. So many weren't *actually* doing the test the right way anyway.

Itās about time. I donāt know why it was required when there are no restrictions once you get here. I had a friend who got stuck in Mexico last month and ended up with a planes trains & automobiles situation to get home.

And whatās weird is that even last autumn you could drive from Canada to the US with no Covid test but could not fly from Canada to the US (until Sunday).
So someone could test + in Canada, rent a car or take a shuttle to a US city such as Seattle and then fly home.

People were pretty open on some travel blogs/facebook pages about flying into Canada and then crossing into the US by foot or rental car. You didn't have to test for land crossings from Mexico either. It was ridiculous that land crossings were exempt but flights were not.

Great news! I flew down a couple of weeks ago and had to test but was never asked for proof of a negative test. Itāll be nice to be able to go back and forth more easily now.

We are thrilled that we won't have to test to come home from Ireland in August. It's so stressful waiting on those test results.

Finally! I've spend so much money for tests. And it is so stressful to wait for the result even when you are sure it's negative.
I don't honestly think they made that much difference, because the tests will only tell the situation at that moment.

A coworker and his family went to Mexico (drove) for a Memorial day weekend wedding then vacation. Whole family caught Covid at the wedding and cut trip short, driving back to Houston while all positive. Fortunately we're still working from home so I don't have to be exposed to his lack of taking precautions.

Hurray! My DS is flying out to see his GF next weekend, and I was resigned to having to organise and pay for his test. One less expense!

Only $70ā¦ā¦ When we were in Ireland last month, we had to have a health professional come to the hotel and test all 28 of us. He charged each of us $55 and barely swabbed one nostril. To us, it was the same as if we had done a home test because he got the results in 15 minutes. But to board the plane, you had to show the *official* negative certificate that he prepared. He made a quick $1,540 for less than an hour's work. What a scam. Bet he's sad that the US lifted the restrictions!

I visited during Covid times and their rules were different from the mainland. Very strict about testing to come to the island. ..but, now that I am writing this, they lifted some things the week after we visited.

The worst part is the (apparent) false negatives with those tests! We just returned from Italy two weeks ago. Two people in our group had absolutely no symptoms, but tested positive the morning before we were to depart for the U.S. They retook the test in the evening and both tested negative. Earlier in the week, another gentleman in our group had the same experience (they were departing earlier than the rest of us). Makes one wonder how many people ended up in quarantine in some foreign country when they weren't even positive to begin with.

One of our high school teachers was traveling with 25 kids for a STEM trip in Panama. She and 3 other travelers (never said adult or kids) had a positive test and now have to stay in quarantine in the hotel for another 7-10 days. I wonder who will foot the bill for that hotel stay.

I'm not sure how testing works in Panama or if the testing was to enter the US.

My son and I were just in Mexico (came home on June 8). Thankfully, we knew people who knew people, so our tests weren't too expensive. Even so.

I have friends who cruised out of Barcelona and ended their trip in Amsterdam. He tested positive with mild symptoms before their flight home and they had to quarantine. They ended up having to stay 12 extra days. I have been so worried that would happen to us. Safe travels and enjoy your trip!

Whew! I am thankful this has been dropped both in the States and here in Morocco. This was going to be quite the expense for our family of four visiting Stateside this year.
NOW......
I am trying to figure out the whole "fully vaccinated" definition. DH, DS and I all have two shots of the Sinopharm. We were not given a choice. DD is just turning 10 and they did not offer vaccinations for young children here.
Are we all required to get the Pfizer booster shot? They still do not offer vaccines her for 10 years and younger.
I am soooooo confused as to what we need to do.

Not sure I'm ready to travel internationally. I just heard through the grapevine that my neighbor went on a cruise and is currently stuck in London because she was positive for Covid. Kind of takes the fun out of travel!
