I have been going through all of my layouts lately. I'm showing my dad all of them before I attempt to put them in some kind of chronological or theme order. That is going to be a lot of work since I have 20 years worth of layouts not done chronologically.
But anyways, I was admiring a lot of my old pages and the products I used to use but no longer use regularly.
For awhile there I was crazy about buttons- they were on almost every layout. And they still look really good to me. I'm going to haul them out and scrapbook with them this week. I also went through a ribbon period. Every page had ribbon or lace. I love those pages. Off to get my ribbon out... I used to hand sew with embroidery floss on my pages. Again, it looks awesome. I have got to be less lazy. Right now my go-tos are enamel dots, ink splatter, wood pieces, and sequins. Evidently I've forgotten about the other piles of embellishments I have.
So my goal this week is to use my old embellishments on new pages. I'm rather excited about it.
Any old embellishments you use to use but abandoned? And old embellishments you still use?

That's awesome, I love ribbon on pages!
I never gave up on my Prima flowers. I used to go every payday to Archiver's and buy 1 bottle. Because they were 6.99 and that was a HUGE splurge back in those days. I have (ahem) a lot of bottles. So yeah, I still use my little paper flowers all the time.

I got rid of my fibers and ribbons. Still love a good button cluster though!

Omg yes to everything you already named plus metal embellishments. I used to use a lot of metal embellishments, mostly MM. I just sold a giant container of ribbon and fibers in a rummage last year that I was holding onto forever. I did use buttons recently to make some cute wall art for my friends nursery. I've abandoned pretty much all of this stuff. I'm such a minimalist pp scrapper these days......journal cards, stamps, occasional chipboard, maybe a sticker. I just don't have the time right now so that part has kind of gone out the window for me unfortunately.

I still like the look of buttons, ribbon, and brads, but haven't used them in a while. I got rid of all my fibers. I never mastered the use of those. I like filling the center of flowers with buttons and brads. I'll have to try using some of the old stuff again. artbabe Thanks for all the great topics here!

Oh, I love Prima flowers. I bought too many of them, though. I was scrapbooking little boys and I kept finding ways to "sneak" them on the pages. I kept some of them and took some of my stash to school for my students to use in collage. Kind of an expensive collage material but I still have enough to last forever and the kids loved them. Better to be used than just stored forever.
I loved Making Memories metal. I absolutely loved it. I've kept everything that wasn't an eyelet (I have no idea where my eyelet setter and hammer are). I need to get the metal out, too. I still like it on my old scrapbook pages.
Remember baker's twine? That was everywhere for awhile. I still use it. I like a little texture on my layouts. I used to thread a lot of my buttons with it.
Wood was everywhere for awhile and then it kind of disappeared. I held off for a long time because it wasn't archival, then I realized that no one was going to want my layouts after I died so I started putting wood everywhere. I have an insane amount of it and I still use it regularly.

I too remember the ribbon/button/lace days. Recently I needed something orange on a page, couldn't find something that would work, then remembered my little baggies from back when I stored things by color. I found buttons in there that worked beautifully, and it brought back a wave of nostalgia!
I also used to use eyelets and the plain colored brads on just about every layout. I still do occasionally brads when I remember, but it's rare for me to use an eyelet-but I have kept every one of them I ever aquired!
ETA: I still have, and use, my Stickles. I've been making an effort to use them on most of my layouts, I just love the little detail they provide! I can't believe that I purchased some in 2007 ish, and they still work!

i have a 4 tier carousel that holds smalls jars of buttons and flowers. each jar is it's own color and there are jars for big and small buttons. this was when i used buttons a lot. now that i don't, i'm wondering what i should do with them. i want to keep the carousel and the jars but the jars are just small enough for buttons and not much else. that is my dilemma right now.

I have and use all the above, plus I cut up sushi mats, woven tanning mats and stuff I find on the ground that looks interesting.

I am definitely buying a tanning mat to cut up for some beach layouts! That's a great idea! I used to use fibers and ribbon much more than I do now. Also Making Memories metal. I still like the look of ribbon and the metal, but I cannot get the fibers to look current on a page. It might just be time for me to let them go. I still like buttons, brads, and even eyelets sometimes!

I paint them with matte varnish which holds during the cutting. I use clear glues for application. hth

I still have alot of ribbons and fibers. Probably use twine much more consistently, though. I have a button bin that I pull out from time to time. Tons of brads and some eyelets. I will go through stages of using them on everything, and then not again for months. I also have quite a stash of wood veneer pieces which get sporadic use. Something that helps me to use some of this stuff is the quarterly challenges. I pulled out a bunch of chipboard to use, just b/c I get a point for every one! Even used some washi tape this past week. Cha ching! More points!
