In the other thread judyc brought up a really good topic. I know we have had threads on this in the past but it has been awhile and I thought we should try it again. I might be repeating some of the ones she said- I forgot to copy hers when I moved to this thread.
Magic- Yes for Disney World or Harry Potter. Besides that? No. Epic- It is on every single boy/teen line. My nephew and his friends still say this but there is simply too much of it. Rad- Again, the boy/teen lines. No one says this anymore. No one. I teach teens and my nephews are teens- that word is long gone. Adults using outdated teen slang is cringe. Dream- This has been around since scrapbooking began. I had a photo of my nephew sleeping and I was finally able to use it once. Once in 20 years. I think I'm too literal. Hello- Yes if you are scrapping Adele or Lionel Richie. Other than that? Good-bye to Hello. I love you to the moon and back- Full discloser: I do love this phrase. I even have it hung on my nephews' bedroom wall. But every baby/child collection includes it. Enough. Shine- This just sounds hokey to me. I think I used it on a sunny summer page. I used it once. Once. As an inspirational word? Yuck.
There are a ton more. Anyone want to add yours to the list? Or does someone (gasp) disagree with me? Your thoughts...

Off the top of my head:
Blessed Best Day Ever
I’d have to go to my scraproom to see what else makes me cringe.

Hello Girl boss/like a boss etc Fri-yay (blech) "Not all who wander are lost" I actually like the phrase but not after seeing it 200 times on every camping/outdoors line ever "life is sweet" with an accompanying lemon, um lemons are not sweet. bloom/grow
there are so many... I'm sure if I looked through my stuff I'd find more

I totally agree with all of you. I would like to see an end to Dream Big and Bloom & Grow. There has to be something else we can put on kid and baby layouts.

Bloom where you are planted. It feels hokey to me. I get the meaning behind the phrase, but I struggle to actually use it on a page. I only ever end up putting anything "bloom" on garden related pages.

I think most phrases are overused when your hobby depends on them for the most part. While I'm good with seeing these phrases on a page, hearing work related phrases at a meeting would drive me crazy.
I'd say the girl boss type phrases that point out that a woman is working hard annoy me. Women have worked hard for centuries. No need to make it seem like it's a new thing. I guess each new generation feels the need to repeat what other have said. I get that.

For me, it's not phrases, it words....
Dream Hope Blessed Rad Cherish Today Hello Girl Boss Magic Shine
Every sticker sheet and every pack of die cut embellishments, has the same old assortment of words.
It's time for some new words and phrases.

I agree with all the ones mentioned, except "hello". It's a nice generic word to use when I need to fill a space on a page.
I hope your next fun thread is ideas for good phrases. I need ideas!
Now I'm off to check my stash to see if there is anything I can add here......

I get irrationally irritated by the 3 word combos. Live Love Laugh Best Day Ever really annoys me. It sort of dilutes the saying when you use it 50 times, right? I have my teen review any of the words/sayings in the so-called teen lines. What artbabe said..most are waaayyy cringy. Kids don't talk that way and adults shouldn't try and use teen slang, (shudder...unless it's very ironic) (I have some good ones for the good sayings, so hope to see that thread soon!)

The only ones that come to mind are "blessed" and "today". Those go straight into the garbage. Any others I can usually work into something else, as part of a longer title or phrase.

Not only does the industry predictably repeat the same tired sentiments for every theme, but also includes them on all products within each collection (e.g. patterned papers, flat/foam/puffy/layered stickers, diecuts, journaling cards, chipboard, washi, brads, stamps). IMHO all of these overused phrases should be retired (& replaced with fresh new ideas &/or several coordinating alpha options so papercrafters can create their own).

Princess (every girl wants to be a princess, sweet princess, etc.), sweet, you are so beautiful, shopaholic, born to shop, smile, stay young and beautiful, kindness sayings, sugar, sassy - These particularly bother me in lines marketed for baby girls through teen girl lines.
Handsome, little man, (be) brave, strong, wild, mighty, courageous, cool, awesome, you got this, nailed it - These particularly bother me when they are on lines obviously designed and marketed for baby through teen boys. I would like to see more of this messaging on ‘girl’ lines. Or better yet, lines that are simply for babies, kids, and teens and aren’t highly stereotypically gendered
After going through the obviously, highly gendered lines, it is startling how strong the messaging is with just the words. Don’t get me started with color and imagery. So, I actually don’t dislike the phrases themselves, except princess, it’s the way they are used that I am over. Wow! We begin pigeonholing children from the crib with something as inconsequential as craft supplies… Sad!

Too Cute to Spook Blessed A+ (on school paper - not every student gets As)
and all of the aforementioned tired gendered language and motifs.

Anything with the word tribe in it. Ex. You are my tribe or Me and my tribe. Yep. Very culturally insensitive. I don't know why the scrapbook companies haven't gotten that message yet. I've love ACOT since they refused to carry that very culturally insensitive line. I try to buy from them because I respect what they did so much. I also hate Fri-Yay. It is stupid. Also "Seas the Day" and "Life's a Beach". I guess I don't like punny stuff. Best Day Ever has got to go. Not every day is the best day ever. Can we replace it with things like "wonderful day", etc. Definitely A+ student. And, as I've mentioned earlier, the same kind of stuff for sports. Not all kids are all stars, some just like to play the game. I also dislike lines where every phrase includes "our". Some of us are single but would still like to use the diecuts. Cherish and Blessed. Nope. We begin pigeonholing children from the crib with something as inconsequential as craft supplies… Sad! Oh, that stuff is terrible. Every single one of the "boy" phrases can be, and should be, used for girls. I hate anything that focuses on how girls look but on what boys do. I do hate the phrase "boys will be boys". I saw it once in an article about rape and ever since then it makes my stomach turn.

#1 on my list has got to be, "You Color My World" Yes!! I did a layout for a challenge on another site, and I really don't like the layout. It's a lovely photo of my DD when she was little, and I used that stupid phrase because it fit the theme of the challenge. But I am going to re-scrap the photo and I will NOT be using that phrase again! Actually I think I used the phrase 'You Add Colour To My Life'......... same/same!

#1 on my list has got to be, "You Color My World" and #2 has to be, "I Hope You Dance". Barftastic! I don't mind "You Color My World" because of my job and the fact that whenever the nephews came for a sleepover we made all kinds of art. But I realize that it is really cheesy if you aren't actually coloring. I absolutely love the children's picture book "I Hope You Dance". I wonder if my sister still has it? It was funny and sweet. The song was cringy. I definitely wouldn't use it on a layout unless it was directly about dancing. I'm just very literal, I guess. I love the work "barftastic"- that describes so many of these phrases.
