Except, this is what I was responding to: A tweet saying that Hillary "doesn't accept the 2016 results as legitimate." claiming that's a lie that needs to be corrected because she made a concession speech and a phone call. Her very own words since the speech and phone call say it's NOT a lie. As do several mainstream media sources. No, what I posted is the full context of Christie's comments. He was making a false comparison. I got it. But it still wasn't a lie. Which is all I have said.

Tonight the authorities in Texas pulled over or found a big rig with a trailer in Texas. In the trailer there 40+ bodies of dead individuals and another 15 or so that were taken to a hospital.
Abbott’s comment…
He couldn’t pass up a chance to blame President Biden with lies and not one tiny thought of the loss of life.
Then that Laura bitch on Fox News is wondering why this President Biden is still helping Ukraine after all there is nothing in it for the American People and Ukraine has lost.
These people are sick.

ANC NEWS Breyer will step down at noon tomorrow, Thursday June 30, 2022. Gee, I wonder how ol' Mitch is going to spin a reason why Biden is not allowed to appoint someone to replace him? I mean the next presidential election is ONLY 2 1/2 years away after all.

I mean the next presidential election is ONLY 2 1/2 years away after all. I don’t think he’s even going to try. When he nominated ACB, I think he basically said we control the WHite House and Senate, we can do whatever we want. Mitch already admitted if Republicans gain control of the Senate, they won’t hold hearings for a Biden nominee.

Gorsuch not off the hook yet .. Many people from legal experts to court watchers to journalists to ordinary Americans on social media are criticizing Justice Neil Gorsuch for his majority opinion in a decision siding with a former high school football coach. yeah, but so what? It's not like he'll say 'my bad, let me take another look at it...' right? They got what they wanted, no matter how much he gets criticized. (just like they referenced witch trials, ignored the book from the 1600s-1700s that had information about abortions in, etc. etc. Doesn't matter, since they already made their decision.) eta: my cynicism-meter is off the charts today, I guess.

But you forget Franklin's booklet [The book] starts to prescribe basically all of the best-known herbal abortifacients and contraceptives that were circulating at the time," Farrell said. "It's just sort of a greatest hits of what 18th-century herbalists would have given a woman who wanted to end a pregnancy early." "It's very explicit, very detailed, [and] also very accurate for the time in terms of what was known ... for how to end a pregnancy pretty early on." Including this information in a widely circulated guide for everyday life bears a significance to today's heated debate over access to abortion and contraception in the United States. In particular, the leaked Supreme Court opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade and states that "a right to abortion is not deeply rooted in the nation's histories and traditions." www.npr.org/2022/05/18/1099542962/abortion-ben-franklin-roe-wade-supreme-court-leak?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_medium=socialcrimsoncat05

Lev Parnas was sentenced ... Former Rudy Giuliani associate Lev Parnas has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for campaign finance crimes the Associated Press reported Wednesday. The Federal Elections Commission said that they couldn't find evidence to discern whether he was guilty, even after he plead guilty. At least seven victims invested a total of more than $2 million in Fraud Guarantee because Parnas and Correia misled them about the financial arrangements," wrote ABC 7 New York in March. "The majority of investor funds were withdrawn as cash and were spent on personal expenditures such as Parnas' rent, prosecutors said." According to the court, Parnas personally earned $2 million from the fraud scam. At the time of the investor effort, Parnas was working with Giuliani for former President Donald Trump in an effort to find incriminating information on Joe Biden and his son Hunter in Ukraine before the 2020 election. www.rawstory.com/lev-parnas-sentenced-fraud-case/

This would be an interesting match up… I really don’t know that he could win. I don’t think he has the name recognition as much as so many others do. Not sure if that’s good or bad. Of course I would vote for almost anyone over DeSanto.

Not to be snarky but man this country finds some of the dumbest reasons, in their mind, not to vote for someone while ignoring the main reasons one should consider voting for someone and they are is this person a decent individual and can they do the job/are they qualified to the job.
What does
being gay have to do with their ability to do the job? being Jewish have to do with their ability to do the job? being a person of color have to do with their ability to do the job? being a woman have to do with their ability to do the job? name recognition have to do with their ability to do the job?
It should be nothing. Nothing at all.
But unfortunately too many people get hung up on the inconsequential stuff while ignoring the ONLY question that needs to be answered “are they decent” and “can they do the job/are they qualified to do the job”.
So when one says Gavin Newsom doesn’t have name recognition, he has a record to run on from being the governor of the largest state in the United States. A state which has the 5th largest economy in the World.
Compare his record to DeSantis’ record in Florida. Not everyone will like what Newsom has done in CA but an awful lot of people will. Same with DeSantis, some will like what he is doing and a lot won’t. The point being they both have records to run on.
Then there is this belief that all candidates must be perfect. Yeah good luck with that. The very fact that they are human means they are flawed. The words perfection & humans should never be used in the same sentence.
There is also this belief these guys must be viewed as likable. Why? I don’t have to like them if they can do the job. I mean the chances of any of them becoming my BFF is extremely slim. But again they must be decent individuals.
At the end of the day I’m looking for a decent individual who can do the job and is qualified to do the job and won’t try to overthrow the government if they lose the election.

Cruz is at it again.... Elmo, the beloved red Muppet character on the long-running children’s television show “Sesame Street,” is now vaccinated against COVID-19 — but not everyone is happy. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz took to Twitter to express his outrage at a public service announcement featuring Elmo and his dad Louie, which was designed to encourage parents and caregivers to get informed about COVID shots for younger kids. “You were super duper today getting your COVID vaccine, Elmo,” Louie says during the 60-second spot. “Yeah, there was a little pinch, but it was OK,” the little furry red monster, who’s 6 1/2 years ol... nordot.app/914954149867307008

It shouldn't be, but a lot of elections come down to popularity contests. Voters are really uniformed and sometimes vote for the name they've heard. Newsom may have done a decent job as governor but a lot of people outside of California hate the state and anything it stands for. Or hate him because of Covid restrictions. Regrettably, there are a lot of people that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, zenophobic, misogynistic, anti- Semetic etc and they will never vote for any of those candidates. Democrats can't win the presidential election with just Democratic votes. They need independents, too. So, electability matters. My guess is that DeSantis will run in 2024, even if Trump runs. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/06/27/ron-desantis-snub-trump-2024-nomination-battle/He's worse than Trump. He's just as conservative, possibly more, but smarter with more political savvy and polish. He won't offend people the way that Trump did (except with his politics) Congratulations you just went a long way in proving my comment the voters in this country suck at their job of voting. Let’s recap Gavin Newsom can’t win the presidential election because he’s the governor of CA and people don’t like CA. Secretary Pete can’t win the presidential election because he’s gay. Hillary didn’t win the presidential election because she is a women with “baggage” that if anyone had actually looked into this “baggage” they would have found it was much ado about nothing. But yet a two bit game show host with no qualifications won the presidential election. A man who we learned yesterday was active in the attempt to overthrow legally certified state elections and if the Vice President of the United States was hung in the process he would be ok with it because he felt he deserved it. A man who spent hours before the tv watching the events unfold and did nothing. Even though he had the power to stop it. And now there is a slicker smarter version of trump planning on running for president, a man who just today banned rainbow clothing in schools. Do you have any idea how many kids clothing have rainbows on them? This man has a chance of winning while Newsom doesn’t because he’s the governor of CA and people hate CA. And Secretary Pete can’t win because he’s gay. Do you know how dumb that is? I guess I didn’t understand that the Democrats needed to reach out to the other side to win elections when I annoyed the progressives on this board by pointing out that very thing. All sarcasm aside, until We the People fully understand that it’s through our votes we form the government and when the government isn’t working or we see that we made made mistakes in our choices, We the People have the power to change it through the ballot box. And until we do, the country will continue to spiral out of control into who knows what, but it can’t be good. This thread of tweets caught my attention and IMO there is a lot of truth in them. She is talking about young voters but I think it could be said about voters of all ages.
