With my 2 dd's being gone this summer, I'm thinking of trying one of the meal delivery services. The ones where they send all the ingredients and you prepare it.
What do you all recommend? Or better yet, which ones to stay away from??

I have tried Hello Fresh, which was ok but not a wide variety of items that met my dietary needs, and Sunbasket which I thought was great. The Sunbasket food is better IMO. I like that I receive just enough ingredients for that recipe rather than having to buy an entire bunch or package or leave that ingredient out like I often would instead of buying one radish.
My biggest problem with meal services is I don’t like to cook every night. For example, if 2 or 3 of my meals have carrots I wouldn’t cook them 3 different nights, I would cook enough at one time then reheat the other 2 nights. I need a weekly meal service instead.

I am currently doing Green Chef because they have low carb boxes, but my faves are still Home Chef and Hello Fresh. I do like Blue Apron when I want something a little more adventurous

We are on our 3rd week of Hello Fresh and are really enjoying it. I like that I don't have to buy all the ingredients, everything is in the box. There are 3 of us, and I get the meals for 4. We almost always have more than one serving left over which is really great since DD and I love to take leftovers for lunch. The pasta and rice dishes make a huge amount. Almost all of the dishes are more than I can eat for one serving. I love having the sides in the box so I don't have to think of other food to go with it other than maybe bread and maybe fruit. I work really long hours and I'm so tired of meal planning. We cook nearly every night so this is wonderful for us. DD and husband have teamed up to cook some nights when I'm not home and they've enjoyed learning how.
My youngest DD who lives 3 hours away was thrilled with the "Free" box I got to send her. She got 3 meals of 2 servings each and only paid shipping. It fed her lunch and dinner for days.
I feel like we get a lot of choice. If we get tired of it some day we may try Blue Apron as well.

I vastly preferred Home Chef to Hello Fresh. We used it when ds was away at school, only in fall/winter. Couldnt do in summer due to the heat.

We use Home Chef 2-3x a week and like it. I liked Sun Basket better, but DH didn't, so we went back to Home Chef.

I like Every Plate because all of the ingredients are either common staples, or easy to get and I can therefore duplicate the recipes easily.

I tried Blue Apron. It was OK. Ingredients were good quality.
I was quickly overwhelmed by the packaging. A good size box, a silver 'cooler' type bag and big ice packs. You can supposedly cut the bags and empty them down the drain. I am iffy on that. I am on a septic system and have plumbing that is creeping up on 100 years old. I wasn't putting that goo down my drains. I kept quite a few of the ice backs in my deep freeze and have used them when I send frozen stuff home with my kids. I put them inside new 2 gallon zip bags, because they were already leaky when I got them.
I just could not handle the sheer amount of packaging - and I think they really try to not have too much. But you still have to have a box, ice packs, and a cooler bag. Along with all the small packets for spices, butters, etc.

Home Chef regularly arrived 1-2 days late and those often had to be tossed as they weren’t cold enough and it made planning what to eat unpredictable. Lots of small plastic containers to deal with.
Love Sun Basket. More unusual meals. Marley Spoon was yummy, but a lot more time intensive to cook.
We are currently doing Hello Fresh and like their more minimal packaging.

Meez Meals is the best one I've tried. They send you everything pre-chopped so it saves you a lot of time. They offer GF and vegan options, carb conscious meals with substitutions available, and lots of vegetarian choices. The best part is that you don't subscribe! Order one meal, or every meal offered for the week. Skip 4 weeks and come back and order - no problem. Portion sizes are great; you will likely have leftovers. www.meezmeals.com/Home/IndexI have really liked almost everything I've made and I have tried just about every meal service. This is the only one I've stuck to. ETA: If you would like a 50% off referral code, please PM me and I'll send to you.

We liked sunbasket’s food best, but had terrible delivery issues. They’d leave it down in the road rather than bring it up the driveway. After several complaints I canceled. But your delivery probs won’t have the same issues. The food was delicious and easy to prepare. Loved the more healthful options.

We do Sun Basket and have been using them for a while. I like that I can skip weeks or get more some weeks. I usually get 2 meals that are 4 servings each per week. Some weeks I only get one meal and add other stuff. Sometimes I skip it all together (like around holidays).
They also have quick meals that you just microwave or heat up in the oven—my ds likes their spaghetti.
Sun Basket has a lot of variety and interesting foods. We’ve been on a Greek and Indian food streak with the meals we’ve selected. They have a lot of variety and the meals are pretty easy to make. You have to chop stuff but the only things you typically need are olive oil, salt, and pepper. I select vegan meals and sometimes add meat on the side for ds and dh. They also have low carb, dairy free, gluten free, and other preferences.

I liked hungry root, it allowed me to add snacks and grocery items so I wasn't stuck always getting meals. I could use my credits how I liked, and I thought they had some banging vegan meals and items that are hard to find otherwise.
However I had to cut my expenses so I can't really justify the cost anymore

I'm in Canada so the only service that has been mentioned that is also available to me is Hello Fresh ... I have subscribed to HF for months and I LOVE it! The recipes are great and the quality of the ingredients is top notch (better than other services I've tried) ... It does require a lot of prep work though so be prepared to invest the time ...

First let me say I hate cooking and hate the shopping that goes with it.
I loved Hello Fresh. but it does have alot of prep involved in it. But this was fine when i was still married
Tried Home Chef don't love it. Found it very blah.
Cook Unity - I liked them but the meals weren't sealed when they got delivery. - Tried them twice and had the same issue
Currently i use and love Tovala. But it is just me and this works out well. It is on the pricey side (but if I don't have the service I end up eating out a lot during the week). But i split the meals in half and add roll, rice or fruit to the meals.
