I need a gift that is $30 or so. It is for a man who is extremely wealthy, mid-30s, lawyer, business man, works 15-16 hour days, no kids, no pets, married.
He wants for nothing, and if he ever does he buys it. He is generous with his money. He is not particularly into jokes or silly gifts. Very serious. Very classy. Think aston martin, american express black card. Likes to hike, likes a gin and tonic now and again but mostly not a drinker. Not a gym rat, a runner, or weight lifter. Travels for business and pleasure but very efficient. No real hobbies, works too much. Like the Trailblazers and has season tix. Not a gamer or computer guy, not a tv watcher or film guy. Not sure if he listens to music or what kind.
I don't know him well, this is just the information I have to work with which is from his brother.
I'm stumped. I've looked around a lot today. But I'm not really finding anything that says "great! lets do it!".
Anyone up for the challenge? Want to help me?
PS rules of hte gift exchange are no gift cards/donations made, it must be a gift to open at an event.

Well, maybe focus on the he likes to hike. Maybe check out REI's website for hiking stuff. We live right by the mountains and people always have some new fangled hiking do hickey. Good luck!

How about a hand crafted hiking stick? That immediately came to mind when I read he likes to hike. My dh makes them and gives them to his coworkers when they retire (he's a cop, and there's always somebody retiring!). Everybody loves them. We had a family gift exchange one year that had to be hand made gifts. He gave one of his sticks and everybody fought over it. If you can find a hand crafted one, you can get a pretty nice one for around $30.

It would just meet the limit, but a bottle of Hendrick's Gin sounds like a winner for this guy. Plus if he's just an occasional drinker it would last a while.

Bevmo has it for about $30, that's a good one. My fil loves Hendricks and we have done that as a gift before. I will put it on my list for sure.

A wallet, money clip or engraved business card holder seems to be fitting from what I've read.

How about a nice scarf? Or I agree something that he could use for hiking.... I am not sure I know where you are, but there are some great local hiking books for the Blue Ridge Parkway, etc and I am sure other places have good ones too.

Classic literature, in a upscale binding, like a Jack Kerouac novel or Thoreau's Walden. Or Dumas' Three Musketeers. Unexpected, classic, and makes him look intellectual, which is the picture you paint.

A hand made hat and scarf
Hand knitted wool socks
A home made Afghan
A small blanket for his car. That matches the interior.
Gloves.

I was going to suggest something from the Art of Shaving, but PrettyinPeank beat me to it! I do like the idea of the bottle of Gin. It fits his personality, and would last him a while. I don't think a wallet or money clip would fit him very well...chances are he has what he likes, and uses a wallet worth more than $30 from how you describe him.

If it were me, I would go old school and slightly boring and go for a tie.
I know, I know, hear me out. Men like that are really hard to buy for unless you know them well-and even then it is a bit tricky. A guy who wears a suit and tie every day uses the tie an accessory, and they do change those up all the time, so a new one is a very safe choice.
If he likes the Trailblazers, and you can find a tasteful, small patterned or team colored tie, that would be a nice touch. If not, there are some beautiful ties out there that go with a variety of suit colors.
Not the most fun, but also a pretty safe bet.

If he's a serious hiker he may already have a hiking stick. My late DH had a nice collapsible one he really liked because he could easily pack it in his luggage or backpack. He had a decorative one and although he liked it he didn't use it.
i don't have any suggestions but wanted to throw that out there. I find that people who have hobbies and money pretty much have the things they want for their hobby.

An autographed something-or-another from the Trailblazers (assuming it's within the spend limit)? Try general Google (for websites selling sports memorabilia) and ebay for availability.

Linen handkerchief? linkI've bought from here before and the quality's excellent. Monogrammed handkerchiefs are always a classic, elegant gift for men.

I was going to suggest a Trailblazers coffee table book but I like anxiousmom's tie idea.

If he likes to hike he would probably love geocaching. Maybe a book on that or a GC to geocaching.com along with a smaller gift to open.
