kitbop has put a lot of time and effort into finding gorgeous projects for us to get inspiration from, and now it's time to showcase one of her gorgeous layouts. nylene and I had both favourited this layout, so when Nylene suggested to me that we should use this as our next POTW, I agreed straight away! The first thing that caught my eye was the gorgeous colours! The rainbow of dots stretching across the page from blue, green, yellow, orange to red. I love how the colours mirror the story behind the photos….. starting off cool, then turning hot as the kids eat their flaming hot noodles. The transition of colours also drags your eyes across the page, following the story. Some of the other things I love about this page: I love the fun rhyming title, from the Queen of Fun & Creative Titles - Flamin Ramen! The strip of colours running across the page under the dots, matching the colour transition of the dots. The overall page design, perfect for lots of photos. Some ideas for creating a gorgeous page like this: 1. I’ve made a template/sketch from the layout that you might like to use 2. Make a background using paints or inks or other mixed media. It doesn't have to be dots! 3. Colour challenge - use blue green yellow orange and red 4. Make a fun rhyming title 5. Tone on tone embellishments on at least two of your background colours Here is the sketch: I hope you find inspiration from this wonderful page!

Very nice! I love the photos placed right next to each other with no gap. I'm going to borrow that idea. Love the pops of color.

Great choice, AussieMeg! I LOVE this LO by kitbop! I really want to recreate that background somehow. I have lots of stencils. Just need to get inky! For POINTS--for those of you on a Q-2 team: Complete a project inspired by this LO for 10 points.

gorgeous layout kitbop - very eyecatching and fun! Thank you AussieMeg - great choice! I'm thinking this might be a good layout design to pull out my smaller circle punches and use up some scraps

Thank you AussieMeg for choosing this layout! It was a creative leap for me, and I planned it in my head lying in bed for a couple of nights before putting it into practice. That itself is really odd - I'm not a scrapper who sees things in their head, or plans layouts ahead of time. I'm often just grabbing bits and bobs off my desk or having sudden "light bulb" moments as I create. For example - the washi tape across the background behind the photos? Total last minute add on - it's the new Spectrum Sherbet washi, and I just bought it and so it was on my desk. And a shout out to Shimelle's "Scrap the Rainbow" class, because it was her inky layouts that gave me the idea.

I didn't realise at first that it was Spectrum Sherbet washi, then when I was buying some more Spectrum Sherbet supplies on the weekend I recognised it in my stash!

I'm so glad kitbop is the POTW, I adore her style. She is absolutely the master at fantastic titles, either for their alliteration or a clever pun, or just a fabulous mix of alphas, and I love how she uses colour and pattern.

I love the colors and details most of all. It's also a great use of a lot of photos to tell a story without being the photo equivalent of sticker sneeze, iykwim. I like how the photos are not all the same size but there's enough consistency for the page to feel really tight and linear. Totally love it. I'm sure I could spend a lot of time looking at all the little embellished spots and seeing new details each time.

Here is my take on this. Whopper Bopper Soccer by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I did the background using TH inks with the round sponge applicators. Used the sketch. The title is as close to rhyming as I could make it. Kept the inks to orange and blue b/c of the ball colours. Also used this for katiekaty's Date Nite challenge July 15th.

I love your layout, kitbop, and was determined to try it. I made the background paper with Distress Inks and added the Bokeh dots with white ink. This was a first for me, but it was really fun. I used the colors outlined and a couple of tone-on-tone embellishments. So I think I got enough of the required elements in it.

Love the inking on these two pages, nylene! How did you do that bokah effect?

Love the inking on these two pages, nylene ! How did you do that bokah effect? I made a vellum stencil using my circle punches and used Picket Fence Distress ink to tap on top of the other ink. I didn't have a reinker and I had a hard time getting enough ink to cover the blues and greens. I will order a white reinker!
