sarahbee it’s funny you mention both Smashbooks and Project Life, because that was entry back to paper crafting. I still have empty Smashbooks waiting for me to fill!! I loved Smashbooks. I know I have a few laying around here. They were so cute and just fun. I have one that is a scrapbook from 2011 & 2012 and then a mini one that I use as a junk journal for cute labels and other things I want to keep.

What’s trendy? Or trending? Doesn’t it depend on who you follow? I do a mishmash of stuff.

I am not a trendy scrapper by any means. My goal is to get photos scrapped using as many supplies as I can to dent the stash. So my layouts are always about that. I have several formulas so to speak that work well for my style and I tend to use one of those most often. I basically do my own thing with the above in mind.

I would count myself in the "sort of" category. To be honest though, I don't even really know what the current trends are. I definitely cruise Pinterest for ideas, and I keep stocked up with new product, but I definitely have my own style. I like mixed media but I'm certainly in the learning stages, so it doesn't make it onto too many of my pages. I'm a die hard inker. I also love to use my Silhouette--in the last number of years there are a lot of backed cut files in my albums.

I am not trendy at all. My style is pretty set, but I like using new papers/stickers/etc on my pages.

I'm a trendy purchaser but most trends are well over by the time I get around to using the supplies.

What’s trendy? Or trending? Doesn’t it depend on who you follow? I do a mishmash of stuff. It just seems like styles go in waves and almost everyone does it. I started out looking at scrapbook magazines and now it is the internet. Way back in the day there was a time when all of the designers were tearing paper. There was a time when all of the designers were using kraft cardstock. Then white background paper became the rage. Now there is so much mixed media and cutting machine designs backed by patterned paper. It does matter who you follow but there is no question that design teams lead to trends.

In a way yes. But I think many of us are. I say that because we buy what is being released and use it. So in that sense, we are trendy because we are using the new product, trying new techniques with stamps/dies/inks, and giving new embellishments a try. I can date layouts by the paper/embellishments, and techniques used (heart/square/round photos on same shape paper anyone?! or zigzag scissors used?!)
My layouts and pocket pages range in variety. I use new and old product. Sometimes a 9x12 pocket page will have 1 photo as that is all I need to tell the story. Others will have 2-4.
My pocket pages certainly don't follow Ali Edwards or PL style so I guess I am not trendy in that sense, but I do make my own cards, alter other cards, and try to have fun with my embellishments and that seems to be a trend.
