Again, I saw this mentioned in the trend thread and thought it would make a good topic by itself.
Are you a flat or bumpy scrapper?
I use an insane amount of pop dots/foam. I like my pages to be 3-dimensional and 75% of my pages have something popped out. I also use buttons, wood pieces, acrylic, enamel dots, flair( which I regret), etc. I don't use anything that is super thick but I'm definitely a bit bumpy. I love Thickers- I probably use them on 95% of my layouts.
Are you a flat or bumpy scrapper? Why do you do it that way? If you are a bumpy scrapper, what are your favorite dimensional things to use?

mostly flat - I do just pop dots, enamel dots, brads/eyelets, dimensional stickers and occasionally a button but I've mostly stopped wih those - I don't do anything really lumpy/bumpy though and many of my pages are completely flat.

Flat, with the exception of things that I pick up along our travels that get included (like those map guides at national parks and other things like that).

Almost totally flat for me. The exception is an occasional brad (or eyelets on some of my older pages). I think I prefer flat pages because I dislike the look and feel of a bumpy lumpy scrapbook, and I hate the dents it puts in page protectors/photos.
One huge exception is a scrapbook I made for DD#1 years ago - it was deliberately made to be very lumpy. It has all kids of bulky stuff - mostly memorabilia, but some bulky embellishments too. She wanted it that way and loves it, but it's so fat she holds it together with a ribbon tied around it, LOL!
ETA: good topic!

I can’t go totally flat with my pages but I don’t want them too bulky. Almost every page has an enamel dot or something that texture and size.

Mostly flat, but I do have some bumpy (Jolee's, thickers, recollections 3-D, etc...).
I don't have a preference either way, it's just the way it worked out. For me, priority wise, it doesn't matter, if it's flat or bumpy..... as long as I think it's cute.

I often use 5-6 different papers on a layout and it can get bumpy just from that, but I do like some layers.

I like my albums CHUNKY! I don't care how puffy something is if it fits, it goes on. I certainly cannot layer and use up product like I'm on a DT reveal, but I love dimension. My favorites are the rubbers (totally regret using certain adhesives when these first came out at SC), but otherwise I'll stamp stuff and pop dot it. I'll layer the dots if I want it to be bigger for whatever reason. Don't send me your skimpy foam square adhesives that can't handle any weight! I'll put crystals or puffy paints. Chipboards or Thickers! I mean, if it would work for the LO, I'll layer all of them at the same time. I do appreciate minimal design and can toss a chipboard on a photo and be done, but my albums are big and juicy and the travel albums have to be tied with ribbon to contain them. I have no regrets.

Can I say BOTH?
Some pages turn out flat, and nothin but the fact, Ma'am... Some turn out pretty bumpy with distressed edges, corrugated cardboard, lots of layers. When I used to use more Prima flowers, they were bumpier still, but I don't use many of those any more.

Consistent with my style (&, like scrappinwithoutpeas, dislike of dents in page protectors & facing pages), my layouts are usually completely flat. Slight dimension is sometimes added via memorabilia, a couple layers of hidden cardstock behind unmatted photos &/or diecut letters/titles, stenciling with glaze/paste, thin foam dots/squares, &/or enamel dots.

I'm a little bit bumpy. I don't mind the height of enamel dots but if a sticker comes with foam tape already in it chances are I'm ripping that thing apart and using flatter adhesive. I will use flair and the super thin foam squares, but that's as adventurous as I get.

I can’t go totally flat with my pages but I don’t want them too bulky. Almost every page has an enamel dot or something that texture and size. That's me, too. I have a few really thick embellishments I plan to remove as I go through the grandchildren's books. If it really, really stands out when I look at the top of the album, that is what I want to remove.

Both, depends on the layout. Mostly on the thinner side.

100% flat. It's adventurous for me to double mat a photo! I know that I've never used foam tape or even chipboard in an album. "Bumpy" takes up a lot of space and puts dents on the pages. If I have thicker memorabilia, I have a box for each kid and it goes in there.
Although my cards are 100% bumpy! I love to add brads, pop dots, foam tape, flair, etc. I do that for almost every single card that I make.

I'm 99% flat. I think I just don't like all the bulk added to my albums.

I'm gonna say "bumpy light". I add enamel dots, rarely wood embellishments, and occasionally foam to bump it up a little.

I like hoopsfn category of bumpy light and think that describes my style pretty accurately. Foam squares/tape, enamel dots and wood veneers but nothing too thick.

I was a bit slow to embrace lumpy stuff as we used to call it back in the day, but now I love foam tape and popping stuff. I also use lots of memorabilia. I have put actual clothing and jewelry in my albums among many other things.

I do use foam/pop dots, but if I use anything that is bumpy enough to press into the opposite page, I make sure that bumpy embellishments won’t be pressing on a photo or anything important. I’ve had photos and printed embellishments damaged when I didn’t think to check that ahead of time.
I think overall, I tend to keep things relatively flat most of the time. On the other hand, I do love to use bumpy embellishments when I make cards. Again, I try to avoid anything too bumpy if it’s going through the mail, but when it’s being given to the recipient by hand, I do whatever I want.

Thank you infochick and Elsabelle. a note to add: Another bumpy item I've eliminated is the metal flair buttons. I was never brave enough to use them but they were just too cute to get rid of. As I've been going through my supplies trying to whittle down the volume, I found that each and every one of them had rust spots on them. So many of you all have mentioned this problem so I made sure to check mine. How disappointing. Wouldn't you think that the mfg. would've made them out of a better material (aluminum?)

That makes me so crazy. I had a bunch of the October Afternoon ones and they were so cute. I need to remove them from my old layouts but finding embellishments that match to put over the torn places where I remove them is a lot of work. Fortunately I saved all of my old October Afternoon stickers so I think I can find something to make it work- I'm just too lazy at the moment to do it. It just ticks me off so much. It is like when everything was made of epoxy and I had to remove all of that from my old pages. And companies still sell epoxy!

Yes artbabe, epoxy! (epoxy-gate) How much money and effort did we all waste on that stuff?

Both. Sometimes I want a flat pocket page layout and other times I want some dimension. I do not go too crazy, but do like to use chipboard (which I do take layers off of), enamel dots, puffy stickers, foam letters to make titles or words.
