Ok, I'm in on this. I wasn't going to play along because I'm not a good finisher. But I have my 2021 JYC a few pages from done. It's the furthest I've ever gotten on a December album and I want to finish it. This style of documenting December isn't for me, so I want this album DONE! Then back to a couple 12x12 LOs for December from here on out lol.

It's not easy to get back to something you have come to realise isn't your thing. I'm cheering for you to finish this so you can cross it off the list and resume December documenting business as usual, LO style.

Hallmark's Christmas in July is going meta this year as Campfire Christmas is a movie about a summer camp for adults/families that does Christmas in July (go figure - I was confused at first watching the trailer ):

ok -the Legoland album is done, I've pulled out my drawer of Christmas and my December 2021 photos (not to be confused with the 2021 DD which IS done - this is the family album so covers all of December not just Christmas specific

I'm watching JYC videos to help get me in the Christmas spirit to finish and it has me thinking "maybe I will do another one" Or maybe I should just stay out of next years thread

Amidst the unpacking, today I found my Christmas stash and my partially finished 2020 album and not yet started 2021 album. Not sure if I'll get to any of it soon but, but it was lovely to find it all. I have it all together in one big basket (and even labeled it "Christmas DD", so feeling proud) ready to grab when I'm feeling the Christmas spirit.

My 2020 album languishes half finished...so that. And then getting on with 2021.
Was so gungho on 2020 and then the blahs hit and are still here! 🤯😜

Unfinished DD albums getting unearthed left and right! Hope the Christmas vibes end up making their way to you all so you can finish these and be done with them. Oh, that satisfying feeling of completing an album, there's nothing quite like it... I'm finding my DD mojo despite the heat (it's 6:30PM and despite having closed all shutters + most of the windows throughout the day, the apartment is still at 33°C/92°F right now - at least humidity is only 28%) but I feel like I'm extremely slow with my scrappy pace right now. As long as it gets finished, I'm at peace with my snail speed though. Can't complain.

I posted in the July goals thread about doing December pages so I am adding that here too. 1. I had hopes for a DD for 2021 but I don't think I really want to. 2. I have 3 pages I want to make (calendar, library trip and stroller walk to see decorations) and fell like there is 1 other idea I have forgotten. The calendar page will be a photo a day. Maybe that will remind me. 3. The incentive is to use cute things.

I'm only making a little progress on my JYC blurb book but cardmaking is coming along. I've used up all 4 partial Christmas collections that were given to me and one of the 3 Echo Park paper pads I bought recently (3 were Xmas, 1 was Thanksgiving). It was quick and easy so I'm anticipating the other 2 pads will be used up in a flash too. The other thing I haven't had any motivation for is remaking old Christmas cards into new ones.

Had a crafty girls weekend this weekend... complete with mid-winyer Christmas festival.... mulled wine and night markets with all the fairy lights, Christmas wreaths and decorations a small town can muster. Threw on the Christmas play list, and although I had a couple of other 12x12 projects I'd like to have done, I focussed on my 2020 DD.... and more or less got 'er done. All the photos are in, there's some embellishing to be done on a couple of 25 pages plus a small detail on another page.... and then it's done!!!!
Worst case: I don't ever go back and do those last items and call it good. Unlikely to happen, as it will kill me every time I look at the last pics....
Now... 2021 .... 🤪🤣

I've finally made a start on my outstanding Christmas layouts with a page that is not obviously Christmas but still part of the season. This was based on a sketchy Saturday from May, and I'm thrilled to have used up the last of two Christmas papers from my scraps drawer and another couple of themed embellishments.

scrappydo Woohoo, that is 2020 (nearly) done and ready to be shelved, big congrats! How fun that you got to get into the spirit with a full-on Christmas in July festival! Is that a tradition where you live? Are you feeling up for another DD this month? Chinagirl828 Love that LO! Such a pretty grid disposition and I love those soft, darker greys and blues complementing the yellow in the photos. And the adorable puffy stars... Congratulations on killing the final scraps from those papers! I've worked a little more on my DD this weekend. So. freakin'. slow. In my defence, it's just hot and the electric fan is not ideal to spread my scrappy hoard to work on things. It's 10:30 AM and my apartment is already at 32°C/90°F. It's hot during the day, it's crazy hot at night. I did get a few more days done and got my pirate paws on Hallmark's new Christmas in July-themed original movie, Campfire Christmas. I liked the twists, I liked that all main couples were mixed, I liked the summery fun with a Christmas theme. And I liked the scrappy memory journals the main character was going through - photos and sticker sneezes and doodles and all! Definitely background-movie-to-scrap-to material! Yes, Hallmark, yes, join us...

sleepingbooty I would be doing nothing but sitting still and whining in that heat! I'm so sorry you are having a heat wave like this when it's not usual for your part of the world. I've finished up three or 4 of the pages in my JYC album, but there was a lot more left to than I thought lol. And I keep thinking of stories I want to add which isn't helping here It's going to feel so good to have this album done though!

Is that a tradition where you live? Are you feeling up for another DD this month? The midwinter Christmas festival was the third year it has been organised in the small town near to where I live. There's often a nod to "midwinter Christmas" in many quarters, like dinners to gather groups together. One thing that has become a regular is on twitter... look up #MidWinterSecretSanta (may need NZ on the end).... you'll see just the lovliest example of joy: strangers sending small gifts to each other for nothing more than sharing joy. 💕 As for my 2021 album... I hope to chip away on it over the next little while, but not by the end of the month 🤣

I posted this on the Christmas products thread, but I purchased some of the Elf line from scrapbook.com! I love the movie and have a couple of perfect photos of my son that will work. I'm normally not picky and buy older stuff for a cheaper price, but I learned when it's something licensed to buy right away.

I decided to take on Christmas cards!! I don't receive many each year, but this will cut down the bulk of my Christmas album dramatically. Hopefully child #3 behaves tonight.

I didn't use many elements just photos, words and templates. It was fun to put all the snowflakes coming down from the sad cloud. http://instagram.com/p/CgS8tYzO1Zv

I had visions of catching up with December daily but I’m not feeling it. Has anyone been thinking about an approach for next year? I think I’m deciding to go with a journal approach. I looked at the product release videos for last years journals and love them. Unfortunately there aren’t many completed journal albums but I feel like having the prompts like the traditional journal and the in a creative bubble pages mixed together is going to be my approach. I’m waiting to see what gets released this year and may just buy all the digitals and make my own.

I also had high hopes of getting most if not all of my outstanding Dec layouts finished and so far have only done one page. Has anyone been thinking about an approach for next year? I am still totally in love with the 6x8 album and have a couple of empty albums in my stash to use so I don't anticipate changing my approach for this year. It's definitely of those "if it ain't broke" things for me.

I love the sad cloud snowflakes too. Do you want me to point out a tiny typo on that page? If it’s not too late to fix it - you have buy instead of by talking about the bus. Oh buses, so frustrating sometimes…

As it's the last day of July and I have only completed one page so far I decided to pull out my 2010 album and just do something. I finished two pocket pages, and used up the last remaining scraps of another for Christmas papers along with several more themed embellishments.

I am carrying on! I only have 7.5 days left in my 2021 DD now. It's Sunday afternoon, we're home from brunch, I'm getting the goodies (and my printer) out and doing another page or two (it's that or napping in this heat). I'll continue into early August to get it all finished. Just really happy with how everything's turning out and having fun with the graphic design part.
I'm still being super slow with my summer DD process but enjoying it so I'm ok with the snail speed... 🐌😊
Also, *this* close to putting on The Muppet Christmas Carol right now. So, so close. 🎵 "Oh, there goes Mr. Humbug / There goes Mr. Grim / If they gave a prize for bein' mean / The winner would be him" 🎶

I decided to carry on into Aug and have finished another two pocket pages in my 2010 album tonight. I've also used a dozen more of the random last of a packet embellishments from my stash and finished off a set of rub ons. I'm super excited to see these random embellishments used, and this finishes all the Christmas pages in my 2010 album.

I'm still working on my 2021 JYC blurb book. I went through my Day One journal and made notes of all the little stories and went from being almost finished to being halfway through my project. Doh! It was good though. I found some things I had totally forgotten including some info that I need to keep in mind for this year's cardmaking.
I laughed when I saw my notes about a TV show referring to the "Bilbo Baggins films a porno" storyline in Love Actually. I always forget about that one. And then my husband came up with the brilliant idea of watching Love Actually and then watching Die Hard so you can see Snape (as he always calls Alan Rickman) get punished for his horrible treatment of Emma Thompson. That's our plan for this year.
