We have a family member that just had their first baby. I want to send something just for mom, but don't know what to send. They live in the boonies, so no food delivery (grub hub, door dash, etc), so sadly can't provide meals.
What is something I can send to help take care of mom?

When I was a new mom, someone gave me a really comfy set of new pajamas. I loved it. A nice robe would be good too for throwing on when she gets up for those late night feedings.

My mother liked to give the new mother a bottle of perfume to let her know she was still a vixen. When I learned that I thought it was a nice gesture.

Since everyone's needs and wants are individual. "The theory of >> "one gift for all" or "one thing someone else loved" may not suit the needs of the new Mother. I would give a walmart or target gift card, then she can order something she needs or wants.

My daughter is ready to give birth any second now.. I know they would appreciate restaurant or food gift cards so they don't have to think about cooking.
CRAP.. maybe I should read better. Can dad pick up food?
Maybe something for her once she is out and about.. manicure/pedicure? Something along those lines.

After her baby 5 months ago my daughter in law wanted a large, comfy bath sheet. She said getting a bath or shower and then wrapping herself in that big comfy towel felt so good. I sent one from Amazon.

I sent one from Amazon. or a towel warmer that she can plug in and use. I have no idea how expensive these are, but that might be an out of the box idea.

If you could send non-perishable snacks that can be eaten one handed that would be greatly appreciated.

This site has a great variety of foods that you can have sent via the usual mail order delivery methods. Includes meal-style choices like ribs, cheesesteaks, etc. www.goldbelly.com/Of course, the perfect gift would be sleep, but I haven't seen a means of delivering that yet.

I like the idea of things to pamper mom like sumptuous pajamas, a nice robe, splurge type bath toiletries, and the like. Deliveries of fruit can be nice too and can be done by mail if they don't have places locally.

I'd probably go with something like a Target card, figuring that, if nothing else, at least she could ship from home and a variety of items mailed to her front door. But I admit that I am very boring like that.

GC for places to pick up dinner
Offer to Pay for a house cleaning.
But for me, the first 3 months, the biggest issues were getting dinner on the range and finding a moment to sleep

Here’s an idea if you’re local to new parents. On Mondays I’d go get my son and daughter-in-law’s Green Chef delivery and cooked them up for them and brought them dinner each night for the first few weeks. I also meal prepped a bunch of meals to fill their freezer right before the baby was born.

Someone to clean the house or do laundry. We are very simple — moms just want some me time.

Two gifts that I got (back in the dark ages) were some wonderful scented body lotion and a gift pack of fancy coffee. I loved both of those.

I would not give her a Target gift card. You know she would just buy something for the baby with it. The best gift would be one for her and her alone, something she doesn't have to share.
What about a gift subscription to Audible? Reading is nearly impossible in those early months, but audiobooks should be doable. I wish Audible had been around when my kids were babies.
I also like the idea of a nice robe or pajamas.

I love the idea of comfy jammies. Have you looked at pajamagram.com? They tend to be pricey, but their stuff is really well made and makes a great gift.

I received a basket from a friend with lotion, a candle, couple of trashy magazines, my favorite candies, comfy fuzzy socks and some herb teas.

My oldest is 32 and I still remember my favorite gift when he was born. Our neighbors belonged to a cooking club. They had us pick a night, dropped off a meal and a bottle of wine and took the baby to their house for 2 hours so we could have a relaxing dinner. It was awesome!
