Aw congratulations on the first grandchild! With the first grandchild new grandparents are born too!
My grandparents (and my parents) were called MomMom and PopPop - it must be a local thing because no one else here has said those names! I chose the name Nana and my SIL’s Mom wanted to be called MeMaw. Other in laws parents are called Mimi and Grammy, men are called PopPop last name. My husband was French Canadian and when they talk about him they call him Papi.
Enjoy this time, it goes by fast!

Congratulations jeremysgirl! DH and I are happily anticipating becoming grandparents sometime around late September. My name will be Polish for Grandma... Babcia. It's pronounced BUB-chah. DH opted not to use the Polish version of Grandpa and will be Poppy. (When DD, who is expecting our granddaughter, was around 8, she secretly embroidered a wee hand sewn pillow that said, My Favorite Poppyseed Lives Here.) DH has always had that on a shelf on his side of our bed and Poppy came to him one morning soon after we learned the happy news. Changing gears, have you heard of the website bump.com? We love following along with baby's development here: www.thebump.com/pregnancy-week-by-week

My sister went to the Hallmark store and made note of the names on cards. She wanted the "grands" to be able to find a card with the correct name, so she is Nana.
I selected Grammy as I liked it better than Granny....thought it sounded more fun as well.

Congratulations!
I'm not a grandma yet but have given thought as to what name I'd like. My mom is grandma, and has said when she's a great grandma she wants to be Gigi. My grandmother is Granny - and she's 103 and I swear has been a little old lady my entire life even though she was only 51 when I was born LOL. So that's definitely out. I'm leaning towards either Grams or Mimi

Jeremy keeps calling me Granny B. It's kind of endearing. Maybe that will be the one that sticks. My paternal grandmother was called Granny Bun, bun being part of her surname. I can see you as JayGee as homage to your name here.

When we became grandparents we were to be called Grandma and Grandpa as the in-laws were to be Nanna and Granddad.
however the little one decided on Gramma and Papa and that is what we are called by all three grandies (all the same family) and that is fine by us.
Congratulations on this wonderful news - maybe a little sooner than you expected but think of the joy that this new addition to your family will bring 🥰

Congratulations jeremysgirl! I didn't want to be called grandma so it was going to be Gammie but my grandson called me Ga one day and that turned into GaGa a couple days later so my grandson picked my name.

My name is Grandmother. It is what my maternal grandmother was called and then what my children called my mother. My 2 year old granddaughter can’t say it yet, so it comes out “Burder” instead of mother. It’s cute now, but I don’t want that to be my forever name.

I am still not settled on it and I have been a grandmother for 3 years!
Growing up we used the term Grandma last name for both of our grandmother's. As I got older I found out from one set of cousins they used Grammy last name and on the other side those cousins said Grandma first name.
So I chose Gramma. It is a nod to Grammy and Grandma. My granddaughter took to calling me Gramma pretty easily. She never said anything else.
Now on an aside, when I was little my dad and grandparents had a nickname for me. No one living calls me that. So I told Dgd that is my name. Gramma nickname. She still only calls me Gramma but if someone asks her what is Gramma's name she tells them my nickname.
Other grandmother already had chosen Nana so I never even went there. My husband had a Nanny and a Nana and his sister uses Mom Mom.
For my own kids my mom goes by Grandma first name. She goes by GG as in great Grandma for the great grands but I spell it Gigi.

The grandmas that I know chose theirs. We have a Pawmaw, a Mamoo... we had a Gigi. I had a great grandma we called "o-granny"-- slang for OLD GRANNY. Not very flattering... I kind of want to be GiGi. Because I'm technically Grandma G-last name. So I think this might be fun. My mother insists that she be called GiGi when great grandchildren are born. I feel like she already had her turn and has her name and now it's my turn. Congrats! Grandkids are awesome! I'm a Gigi! I don't even remember how it happened (it was 9 years ago) My husband is Grumpy.

This is so cute, I can barely stand it. I'm half tempted to teach the baby to call Jeremy Grumpy. What's hilarious about it is that he is the furthest thing from a Grumpy old man.

It's pretty funny hearing my grandson call him Grumpy with almost a British accent (from Peppa Pig)...it's like "Grum-peh"

My nephew calls his other grandpa Grump-pa, because he IS a grumpy old man. It is completely fitting. And I finally checked in on the fifth page wondering how the Your Grandma Name game got to five pages! I thought it was like the Your Stripper Name threads. Congratulations!!

I’m grandma but if he starts calling me by my 1st name when he starts talking I’d be fine with that. Kids do that when they hear all the adults using names.
My grandma was called Grandma Babe. My grandpa always called her babe so all the kids thought that was her name. Even her friends called her babe.
My Slovak speaking great grandma was baba. No one since her has been called that.
I will say I did not want to be called “mawmaw”. Not sure why but that just bugs me.

My grandma name is Bomba. I was sitting with my kids one day just talking about it and said “im going to be the bomb.com grandma”. My kids started teasing me ruthlessly and then said, “no mom then you could be Bomba” and it stuck. My granddaughter saying Bomba is the absolute sweetest thing ever! I love my grandma name!

Growing up me and my cousins called our grandmother from my dads side Nani. Italian? I think she picked it. What’s interesting is dd’s dad had a Nonnie too. My mom picked her grandma name: Nana (pronounced: naw nuh) but dd would say it like naw naw. Me and one of my cousins would tease my mom when we were younger with the Offsping song: “Na na why don’t you get a job” when it would come on.
How exciting your first grandchild!
