Please share whether you prefer open, closed, or both types of storage in your papercrafting space, & why? TFS.

I chose both.
I use 13 x 13 plastic envelopes, so everything is contained and dust free. The carts in which all the envelopes reside are open and easily accessible.
My alphabet letter that I've made into words, are in little mini baggies and hang (via curtain clip) on a jewelry tree. Product contained and dust free, but easily accessible.
My system works great for me.

My favorite storage is wide drawers that I can keep open while working to have everything at my finger tips and then close when I'm done.
This also works well with macro organization (vs micro organizing). I like having larger containers with large groupings of things vs lots of small containers with every small category having it's own container.
So all my red embellishments are in one general container together. Vs my red dots, red buttons, red ribbons, and red stickers having their own individual containers.

I chose open because the poll said “preferred” but I do have both open and closed. I prefer open because I love to see my product so I don’t forget about it! But due to space issues, some things need to be closed - I don’t have room for everything to be open.

I love the look and idea of open storage, but when it comes down to it, I also don't like dust. So, I have a combination and I rotate out supplies for seasons that I need. ie: stamps on my desk are ones that can be used for everything and then swap out the summer for autumn, etc. The others get rotated to a specific drawer and zip bag since that drawer is getting full. It works for me.

I prefer closed but easily accessible. I don't like dusting and most of my colored cardstock has faded edges due to light exposure.
It's not what I have but in an ideal world it's how I would keep things.

I do open. I need to see what I have to remember I have it. There are items hidden in drawers or in bins that k always forget I have. It goes along with what clutterbug says about different organizing styles. I used to try to put it all away so it didn’t become overwhelming for others but it drove me crazy!

looking at my space - apparently open. I think the key for me is being able to reach and easily grab everything

I chose both.
I like open cabinets for my Iris containers so I can just grab what I need.
I like my tools, various tapes/glues, die cuts, etc to be in drawers (closed spaces).
I have a rolling 3-tier cart from Michael's that I have storage containers on for easy grabbing.
While items are in containers, them being in open spaces allows for ease of access.
But certain items that aren't in containers are in drawers. It keeps a clean look and keeps them away from dust and direct sunlight as my space has late afternoon direct sunlight.

I have closed, but clear storage so I can see my items.

My storage is "closed" but in containers that I can see. I also hate to dust . I try to have my containers labelled so it's easier to locate the more obscure items.

I chose both. I like to have stuff out, not only so I can see it and use it, but also I like things easily accessible. If I have to get up and get stuff all the time I get annoyed and don't want to craft then. I agree with others that I don't like dust on my stuff, but I also want my craft time to be enjoyable and easy!

Ideally, I would like open containers behind closed cabinet doors. My space has open bookshelves and cubes, so I do the best I can to keep things uniform in bins and as clutter free as possible.

I like both, because some supplies I like out in the open, and some I prefer stored away. However, the more practical of the two for me is closed. I have a dog, and his hair gets everywhere. I voted "both."

Closed. I hate clutter and I hate dusting. But I definitely have a combination because I’m not a billionaire with money to spend on cabinets. I’m really hoping to have at least 75% closed storage in the new house.

I chose both - I like things I use often to be easily accessible, so a lot of most-used items (tools, adhesives, most-used punches) are right on my desktop in a desktop organizer or on the shelves of my small desktop hutch. I keep a selection of cardstock in an organizer right on my desktop too, and other loose CS is stored upright in cropper-hopper style organizers on open bookshelves. Patterned paper and CS pads (including 6x6) are upright in Thirty-One containers on bookshelves (so, partially closed since they're covered on 3 sides). That said, in my craft room I have several types of storage - some open, some closed: + small storage drawers on the desktop hold smaller & less-used tools + open shelves on the desktop hutches (I have 2 now - one is new!) have most-used punches and a few seasonal ones that I swap out by season; other punches are in partially open bins on shelves + most-used embossing inkpads, acrylic stamp mounts, & 2-3 embossing powders are in a small bin on a covered shelf + remaining inkpads (including all distress/distress oxide) and embossing powders (way too many colors!) are in a 3-drawer Sterilite organizer on a bookshelf + wooden stamps are in bins under the desk and on top of my armoire + clear acrylic stamps are organized by theme in 2 "trapper-keeper" style zippered binders on a bookshelf; a 3rd binder on that shelf holds embellishments (mostly things I already cut with my silhouette - I like to cut extras of things I use a lot) + tiered organizer on bookshelf holds tall sticker sheets still in packaging - very easy to flip through, but still kept dust-free + armoire holds more CS (yes, I have a lot), iris cases with current/in-progress projects, & lots of other tools & supplies - all behind closed doors + some themed papers are in iris cases on a bookshelf so I can just grab the case for whatever theme (Disney, fall, etc.) + extra adhesives, tags, lots of smaller embellishments, lots of other lesser-used samller items are in a 10-drawer cart (like THIS) + lots of other stuff not listed separately is in closed storage (lidded boxes/bins, large drawers in armoire & closet, etc.)

I prefer closed, but have a mix in my room. Mostly because I'm not willing to shell out the money on cabinets. I use mostly Ikea.

My preference is closed. Visual clutter kills my creativity and I’m sensitive to dust.
My space is mostly open - IKEA Expedit/Kallax units. It works, but not something I would choose again.

I would prefer everything behind closed doors. I open every window in the house almost year round so dust is an issue for me.

I voted for open, since I am a flipper. I like to pull a container part way out and flip through it quickly for what I want, and put the bin back on the shelf.
I also like to easily put things back in their bins when I'm done with them.
I don't love the look of open storage, but I love how it functions.

I prefer closed because I don't love the visual clutter, but there are some things where I definitely think I would use more if I had it in open storage.

I don't love the look of open storage, but I love how it functions Visual clutter kills my creativity I feel both of these - visual clutter in general is stressful for me and DH is a piler/stacker/keeper of everything so my house is more cluttered than I prefer so I try and keep my craft room less so. But yes - open storage can definitely be more functional for me

I keep papers and albums on/in open shelves and cubes, organized by colors, themes, and/or manufacturers. I keep embellishments clipped to a carousel. My stamps, dies, inkpads, etc., are kept in containers, binders, drawers, and other closed containers as much as possible.
I have a rather large stash of supplies and tools. Most are fairly well organized, and I can usually find what I want quickly. It would be nice to have Ikea cubes with doors, and keep it all hidden, but I don’t have the money or the space to do that kind of storage in my craft loft.

I don't love the look of open storage, but I love how it functions. Ditto x 2. Personally, I stand to scrap with only the essentials on/in my project table, "clean" as I go, & retrieve/flip through/return supplies from open storage (except a 5-drawer cabinet holding stamp supplies). While I would prefer closed storage for a more uniform appearance, constantly opening/closing cabinet doors &/or drawers to access supplies is not practical for my workflow/process.

This is one of my pieces in my room. I like that the pretties can all be out in the open and the "other stuff" can sit hidden. Credenza by Nancy Tim, on Flickr
