I'm sorry that happened to you, that's made it more difficult than it needed to be.
Can you ask your current doctor to get in touch with the lab that looked at your first specimen and try to work out what happened? Maybe there's someone there who isn't as good at their job as they should be and it needs to be looked into further. It's possible that the biopsy could have missed all the cancer and just got healthy tissue...but unlikely. It's also possible that the first doctor didn't biopsy the correct area (which is a problem), and I'd be upset that when you when contacted the first doctor she didn't see you again and check out what was going on.
Negative lymph nodes is the best possible sign along with the other tests that show no spread, a person always has the best chance before the cancer spreads anywhere else. So that part is very good news. Remember they have to tell you all the possible complications & side effects of chemo & radiotherapy, but not every person gets most/all of the them...fingers crossed that you are one of the lucky ones.

Oh no, my friend! I literally cried while reading your post. (((Hugs)))
You, amazing woman, who has been such a support to others, do not deserve this.
If there is anything I can do for you, don’t hesitate to ask.

What a horrific experience. I think you've done us all a valuable service to remind us that we should listen to our instincts. I'm hoping for you chemo with the least amount of symptoms and the best possible outcome.

You all are amazing! I debated whether to post, but wanted others to learn from my experience. I appreciate your kind words. In real life, very few people know. Just one sister, my husband and sons, and my husband’s family. My mother is 88 and medically fragile, so I hope to wait to be able to say “oh, that scar is nothing to worry about-a little cancer and radiation. All cured.”
Your words and kindness will help me through this. I truly appreciate your support!

Oh my, what a shock that must have been for you. I've got you tucked up safely in my warmest thoughts while you navigate this new territory, and the change to your life path going forward. You may want to ask about getting any dental things fixed now, before radiation, because after radiation to the teeth, dental work is pretty tricky stuff, particularly dental cleanings. A toddler tooth brush with the extra soft bristles feels much much better than a regular soft toothbrush. Biotene makes a really great line of products to help with dry mouth. ETA What pjaye said. Excellent advice.

I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Just as well you listened to your gut feel and kept pushing for an answer. I hope the radiation treatment goes well, and you don't have too many side effects. For me, the worst thing was the tiredness - about a week in, it was all I could do to get to and from my sessions. Everything else went out the window.

I'm so sorry that you are going through this but I'm glad you had the presence of mind to get a second opinion. I would let your previous Doctor know though, if only to stop it happening to others in the future. Hope your treatment will go well.
