I am so sorry. Look into hyperbaric oxygen therapy. It is used in your situation, AFTER your teeth and jaw have deteriorated in order to remove the teeth. Maybe it can be done earlier in hopes of saving the teeth and bone.

Sending wishes for the best possible outcome. I had radiation and my butt was so tanned for about year. It’s back to normal and there is no difference in my skin texture. ((Hugs))

My heart dropped when I saw the post title. I am SO very sorry that you are going through this. I'm angry at your doctors for dismissing (or missing) early signs, but happy that you seem to be on the right road to fight the fight. Your positive attitude will take you far in this cancer ordeal, and so many of us are here to cheer you on.
I wish you the best. xo

I love your update. Am hopeful for a great recovery for you.
Just a side note, I had radiation for my breast cancer many years ago, following almost a year of surgeries and chemo. Obviously your experience may be completely different, but mine was that it wasn’t that bad. Better than chemo! Time-consuming for six weeks, and a bit tiring. The doctors told me afterwards that my skin was damaged from the rads, but it’s never been noticeable to me.
So I hope you have an easy-ish experience with it, too.

My mom had oral cancer and beat the odds to live many years after her first occurrence. She did lose some teeth, tissue, and bone but was able to adapt and spend many great years with us having fun and making so many wonderful memories.
One thing that I always share is that the radiation was tough, and due to sores in her mouth she did not eat, lost a lot of weight, got very weak, and had two falls. The doctor offered a feeding tube, but she turned it down. If that is an option, I would strongly consider it.
Good on you for persisting and getting a second opinion. Please keep us posted. Sending you strength. ❤️

So sorry you are going through this right now. Thank God you advocated for yourself!! My gramma was diagnosed with oral cancer 16 years ago she had to have the one side of her tongue removed and lymph nodes from her neck, by the grace of God she never had chemo or radiation and has been cancer free for 15 years-you will beat this!!

Thank goodness you persisted and advocated. I would definitely let the first doctor know how easy this all could’ve been.

Good update. Thank goodness you were persistent. Hang in there and keep eating! (from someone who recently had a family member in the hospital for malnutrition b/c they didn't eat enough). Hugs to you!
