Just saw this list of books most enjoyed by Goodreads readers in the first six months of 2022 and wondered how the Peas' lists would compare. Do you agree and/or disagree with the lists? It's summer, so I'm focusing on reading again. Looking forward to checking out a few of these books. Hope some of the Peas from the weekly reading threads, especially, will chime in. Here's the link.

I haven't read any of the books on the list, but I added 5 to my 'to read' list and have just bought one on my kindle Same for me. I'm on the waiting list to borrow a number of them from my local library. But if I get impatient, I may pick some up for my Kindle, too!

I've read #1 on Sci-Fi & Fantasy - Totally 5 stars for me, #3 in Romance - I think I gave it 4 stars, attempted #1 in YA (I love VE Schwab, but this isn't my type of story). Instead of getting another book off my TBR list, I'm re-reading the "Nevernight" trilogy by Jay Kristoff.

I also haven't read any of these although a couple are in my to be read list, and several more will be soon. All of this. My library hold game is on point this year! I didn't read much in 2020 - just wasn't interested + had a hard time focusing. Last year I started to read again, and this year I've read as many books in six months as I did all of last year!

I added a number to my 'want to read' list; but I currently have five books out of the library, so for now I haven't requested any.
I think there were three or four on that list that I've read, thanks mostly the the Pea Monthly Reading Thread.

I haven't read any of them although some were on my wish list at the library. I added a bunch more to my to be read list on Goodreads.

I've read some of the list and rated them:
The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley- 4/5 stars A Flicker in the Dark- 3/5 stars Reckless Girls- 3/5 stars The Overnight Guest- 4/5 stars Book Lovers- 3/5 stars which was generous. I thought about going lower. The characters are so overly dramatic.
I just got Lessons in Chemistry out from the library in the 7 day express section.

Definitely are some good ones! I’ve read 7 of them mentioned and a few are on my tbr list.
The Book of Cold Cases was so good and creepy! Loved it!
Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover was really good too. It’s about a woman who went to jail and is now out trying to reconnect with her young daughter in a town who doesn’t want her back. She connects with a friend who knows her daughter. It was a pretty good and sad book.
I’m reading Book Lovers now and love it! Emily Henry is a good writer and her books are perfect for summer reading.
I Must Betray You is so good! Ruta Septys is one of the best historical fiction writers because she does her research and writes about events that many people don’t know about. I enjoyed this book and while it says it’s geared for YA I didn’t feel like that at all. I read it right at the start of the Ukraine war, so it was even more heartbreaking to read.
Family of Liars is good too! It’s a prequel so you need to read We We’re Liars first. This is def YA and you either like or you don’t is what people say. I enjoyed it so I wanted to read the prequel (which just came out this year). I loved the prequel more!

I just printed the list to keep in my reading area. I have read 4 of the books on the list and have 6 of them in my bookshelves thanks to BOTM. Guess I need to get busy and read!
I will say I just finished Lessons in Chemistry for a book club. I really liked it. It was frustrating at times due to it being set in the 50s and 60s. Very timely at the same time.

I don't keep up with the latest releases. I'm not a big fan of romance, and there's quite a few on that list.
I have a huge wish list on my state's online lending library. I borrow books when they are immediately available. I sometimes do holds, but the wait is usually weeks. The latest books I've read were published from 2007-2020.
I add books as I hear about them from others. I also find new to me books through book bub. Frequently, those are available through my library.
I am currently listening to the BEST ever narrated audiobook; The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin. It's like listening to an old radio drama. 📻 Highly recommend!
ETA: Duh!! Saw there are different categories listed.

Not on the list, but has anyone read The Measure by Nikki Erlick? They were talking about it on tv the other day and I thought it sounded interesting.

I’ve read 10 on the fiction list. The number 1 book-One Italian Summer was just meh for me. There’s a few more I’ll probably read, but some don’t look appealing to me at all.

After reviewing the list I put To Paradise on hold. I read A Little Life by the same author; Hanya Yanagihara. I've never been so gutted, so frustrated, but it was so very real.
I put Young Mungo on hold too! l loved Shuggie Bain by the same author; Douglas Stewart. That was another one that was quite depressing, but wow that book transported me to a place I've never been. It felt so real and vivid.

I haven’t read any of them but 3 of the top 4 in fantasy are on my short list. #4 I’m hoping to read soon. I’ve downloaded it but need to finish another of her books from an older series, the Sentinel. I really need to make more time for reading.

I'll go further and say I actually disliked it. I picked it up as we were planning a trip to Positano and thought it'd be so fun. The premise was terrible, the execution terrible. I genuinely hated the book. It's the only fiction book on the list I've read, so if that's #1, I'm a little worried about the others! ETA - although looking at list again, I'll have to pick up the Diamond Eye, I enjoyed the Rose Code and that it's set in Kyiv makes me want to read it.

I've actually read quite a bit of the books on the list, with a few more on hold at the library...

I've read 3 of the books listed:
Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn-gave it 5 stars. Kate Quinn is one of my authors. I Must Betray You by Ruta Septys-another favorite author. 5 stars Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel 3 stars. I didn't care for this one. I adored her book Station Eleven.
I don't pay much attention to reading lists. I know what I like (my favorite genre is historical fiction) and get most of my reading suggestions from Goodreads, my historical fiction facebook group, or by browsing in Barnes & Nobel.
99% of the books I read each year I get from my local library.

Not on the list, but has anyone read The Measure by Nikki Erlick? They were talking about it on tv the other day and I thought it sounded interesting. I saw this on TV also. I am one of those people who would not want to know my death date. The book sounds scary to me because of that. I’ll keep checking the weekly 2Pea reading thread to see if anyone takes the chance and reads this one.

I've read 12 of them - and a few will be on my worst books of the year list!
The Diamond Eye 4 stars Lessons in Chemistry 5 stars The Maid 4 stars A Flicker in the Dark 2 stars (the dumbest psychologist in the history of the profession!) The Book of Cold Cases 4 stars The Golden Couple 4 stars Reckless Girls 3 stars (silly & unbelievable, but still entertaining) The Night Shift 4 stars Portrait of a Thief 2 stars (good idea & start, then mind-numbingly dull) Notes on an Execution 5 stars The Overnight Guest 3 stars (the first 2/3 had me guessing then a stupid ending with too many co-incidences that ruined it) Unmasked: My Life Solving America's Cold Cases 3 stars (the crime parts are interesting but too much about himself and a bit repetitive)
There's only 2 on the list I still want to read. (Nothing in sci-fi/romance or YA)
