In a spin off of the "Christmas in July" thread...I have to confess something.
I really dislike scrapbooking Christmas.
I look like crap in the pics, it is too early, I hate making my whole family pose, the lighting always looks yellow for some reason, making the photos look old even though they are not. I struggle with Christmas anyway, (extended family crap) so I am usually operating at some level of stress so when I look back on Christmas photos I can see my stress.
So-I have like 3 years of Christmas stacked up to do that I have been putting off.
Are there certain photos or times of year with pics that you are just like bleeeeccchhh, I just don't want to scrap this!

Indoor school events - choir, awards, spring sing, etc.
Terrible lighting, never really close, lots of people's heads or movement...

Yes this - "anything where there are a TON of photos - I get overwhelmed." I'm with you Linda. Sometimes there are just too many photos to try to make them special. I'm trying to work on this and NOT keep every photo I take; it's not like they're all good photos.

Any milestone event. My wedding for example. We just celebrated 20 years on June 29. Still haven’t documented it. I don’t enjoy doing birthdays either.
Me - My dog? Yes. My cup of tea? Absolutely. My daughter’s stripy socks? Of course. Twice in fact!
Also me - Her first birthday? Heavens, no! Her first year monthly pictures? You’ve got to be kidding me! First day of kindergarten? Have you lost your mind???

I hate anything that has big groups of people. It always seems like no one coordinates, colors clash, someone is not looking at the camera, someone has their eyes closed, Jeremy is putting up rabbit ears over somebody. Group shots always seem like a nightmare to me. I'm always half tempted to turn them black and white.

I'm always half tempted to turn them black and white. I really like this idea! I think I am going to try it with a couple of photos of my niece's bday party where everybody just looked weird. It might just smooth out the whole ugly photo, lol.

Christmas photos for sure! I still do December Daily but for some reason I'm good with that. Maybe less pressure to perfect photos for 1 day? I also don't like Halloween pictures because we live in the north and most pictures of kids in costumes have winter clothing underneath or snow plus bad lighting and it's just not a good combo.

Definitely band/music concerts. My oldest son plays trombone so he is usually near the center of the back row. I'm maybe lucky to see him for brief moments but lose him completely when instruments go up to play. Thankfully he also does jazz band which plays on the floor in front of the stage so I can usually get some close ups (with tops of parents heads too...) The lighting is awful in the auditorium too.
I dread scrapping baseball pictures from certain school's fields. At our home field I can walk right up to the chain link fence (behind home plate & along the sides) and be able to take pictures thru the fence. But some schools have elevated bleachers so I can't get close enough to the fence to get a clear shot...or worse it's netting that doesn't stay still. Photos from these schools don't turn out great.
Easter is hard because the pastels of most Easter lines never worked well with my boys clothing.

Indoor school events - choir, awards, spring sing, etc. Terrible lighting, never really close, lots of people's heads or movement... This! I have too many auditorium shots. It is hard to make playing the clarinet on stage look interesting year after year. The same with awards ceremonies. I love scrapping the kids with their clarinet, or marching band, or the kids with their awards- but photos of them in the band on stage or being handed an award? So not interesting. I don't mind Christmas ones much but they often aren't my favorite. We don't do a lot of Christmas activities. Most of my photos are of Christmas morning and the only way you can tell them apart is that the kids keep getting bigger. I think I'm going to have to plan Christmas activities just to have more selection. We always open presents at my sister's house and she has this big rust colored couch that seems to dominate the photos so I struggle with scrapping those photos with red and green. I never thought about it before but I do tend to avoid using red papers with those photos. Also, the tree always photographs blue for some reason, so I use a lot of blue if the tree is in the shot. I love that there are a lot more Christmas lines with blue now.

I don't have too many Christmas pages either. I get caught up watching our niece & nephew open their gifts then we roll right into making breakfast for 30 people. By the time I remember to take a picture, I'm tired. Also day to day stuff. So much of my life is repetitive that I don't have much interest in scrapping it.

I won't be scrapbooking the vintage photos and polaroids, I have from the 60's and 70's. They reside in a decorative box.

All the above, and scrapbooks for others. Now I understand why I make other things with my paper, like cards, ATC's, boxes, and other things.

How to word this? I could not care less if there are few photos of me in my family album. I have scrapped my life, but it's only for me. Those albums; pre-kids are tucked away. I don't care about leaving a legacy. It can all be burned when I die.
I mainly scrap events. It's not that I loathe pages with lots of journaling and telling a story, I LOVE THEM. It's just not me. I'm content to scrap the basics of who, what, where, and why. The why, if included is very brief. It feels very contrived when I get wordy.
Another preference, I prefer to scrap the happy things. Sure, I've scrapped the bad, but I personally dwell too much on that in my head. I don't want or need a visual reminder. I can't imagine putting the entire truth about my life on paper. It would read like a white trash novel. 🤣
ETA: I completely misread the question! My comprehension skills suck today. The answer; my photos are just ok. It's usually the topic that I find hard to scrap. Like stories. A photo of a person. No event, no background. I just like the photo. Those are hard.

I don't scrapbook the bad stuff... if I think about it too much it sends me into a negative spiral.
I also do not enjoy scrapping the 4th of July or Easter.
4th of July because my pictures always look bad. I'm usually tired and over it after 3 days of listening to the neighbors set off fireworks non-stop...
Easter because I don't want to make more than one page so I'm trying to fit the egg dying, the baskets, the egg hunt, the chocolate, the flowers, Easter dinner, the kids with their new bubbles/chalk etc... into one page. Plus, pastels colors are not my favorite.

Holidays and events. Christmas Day photos, Easter Day, especially. Birthdays too.
I used to think it was because I end up with a lot of photos of these events, but I also end up with tons of travel photos and Disney trip pics and I LOVE to scrap those things.

Agree with so much of what everyone said. Kid's sports pictures are my least favorite. I'm not a sports person so just not a fan in general. I try and just pop one photo in a pocket and call it good. Ultrasound photos I've discovered I don't really enjoy scrapping either. I was so excited to get them at the appointments but they are super grainy and just don't look that great.
I haven't done our wedding yet either. My MIL and my parents want copies (we did a tiny outdoor COVID wedding & no family because we lived out of state). It feels like way too much pressure so I've completely avoided the project.

Same, I did a photo book for my wedding but haven't scrapped a single photo. I also haven't scrapped any of my daughter's birthdays (she's 7) or her baby book/milestones. anything where there are a TON of photos - I get overwhelmed This too! I have been trying to get ruthless with deleting multiple photos of the same thing so I don't get overwhelmed but I still get overwhelmed. I really dislike scrapbooking Christmas. I stopped buying Christmas scrappy supplies because I have not made any holiday albums for myself. I did make one for my friend's mom years ago but haven't done a single one for me.

I just thought of another thing - school photos of my daughter. My daughter just graduated from my school so it’s been nine years of other peoples’ kids from my job in the photo. I always felt funny about scrapbooking those online. Her three closest besties have consented (as well as their parents) to allowing me to put them online, but I’m not asking the whole cast of the musical for that.
I know I don’t have to post those layouts but it’s always something I think about and it makes me choose other photos to scrapbook sometimes. I halfway want to print a few photos, mark out the faces, and use them as placeholder photos whenever I want to do a layout with kids besides the four girls.
Hmmm…I wonder if that would actually work for me? 🤔

My Christmas photos are always so busy that I don't enjoy scrapping them. I like the small moments, like making breaksfast with my grandson or something like that.

Count me in the group that doesn’t like scrapping Christmas. There is always so much pressure and family drama around the holidays that I actively start to dread Christmas.
As much as I want to try to be positive and enjoy the small things, I’m not there right now. I keep thinking that a scrapbook project might help me focus on the positive, but then I get sucked into the whirlwind of holiday stress and barely even take photos.

I can’t get motivated to scrap anything in with a bad picture.
I also don’t like to scrap Christmas because it is just the same thing over and over. I love actual Christmas, just not scrapping it.

I like to scrapbook most things, except I often run out of steam when I have too many photos. I am not one to cull my photos for one or two really good ones. Example I tried to get photos of my dgd2 when she was a newborn. Many of the photos she looks anything but precious, screwed up face, big head, crying. But she's a happy joyful 5 month old now and those photos capture her first weeks in the world. Priceless but not exciting to scrapbook.
Secondly as a theme scrapper if I don't have or have used up my theme stuff on a certain project, I get uninspired rooting around for what will work and using product I don't like as much as others I used. That makes photos uninspiring to work on. Example my son in California. I have used all kinds of great beach stuff but I had to stop working on the pages before I finished because I was tired of that theme and had used most of my "good stuff." So I need to get back to it but am uninspired to do so

For me there are two things I dislike scrapping: Halloween when the kids were little, and all those indoor school concerts/ceremonies. I've scrapped only ONE year of Halloween, and hated the original pages so much that I actually went back and re-did them. I like them so much better now, but it took 2 tries! I dread doing the other years of Halloween... Indoor school concerts and ceremonies are difficult for the reasons mentioned above - low lighting, other people's heads, tiny shot of kid amongst the crowd, etc. And then there's my my own special struggles: flutist in the front row who did NOT want to be seen so moved her chair so as to be unphotographable (DD2, I'm looking at you!), and DS the percussionist who was always way in the back by design so no good photos of him for school concerts either.

It's anything with a lot of pictures for me too. I have a hard time culling pictures, so the event turns into several layouts.
Also, other people's pictures.

Bad stuff. I don’t scrap the bad stuff. My scrapbooks are sunshine & roses
It’s not like I’m going to forget the bad stuff. I just don’t feel like memorializing it either.
There a smidge of rough stuff in my memory planners, but just a factual mention if it’s there.
I’m not glorifying, and accessorizing the shittiest stuff that happens to me. I’m just not.
Ok well, that one time I scrapped a picture of me holding my dads hand on his death bed. But only because, as difficult as that night was ( hardest of my life ) I will treasure those moments forever and I’m thankful to have had them. And yes, I did take the picture on purpose, on my crappy flip phone, I sort of knew it was the last thing I’d share with my dad and I ‘needed’ that picture.
But other than that, I’m not accessorizing and embellishing shitty stuff.

Great topic!
I'm adding my emphatic head nodding to a dislike of: Christmas, indoor photos, school photos, multi-photo events.
But for me the main driver is STORY - if I have a good story to tell, or a unique perspective, or a funny moment, I find it easy to scrap whether they are good photos or bad. If it is (yet another) picture of the family under the Christmas tree on Christmas eve - and I have a thousand and many are quite GOOD photos! - I just struggle to get it on a page. So all those repetitive events (birthdays, Easters etc) become harder and harder to scrap as the years go on because the kids are grown and it feels just the same. I'm grateful it's still the same and I'm grateful everyone is together. But hard to scrap.
Another thing that can make scrapping hard is if you don't have the right orientation of photos. Like if I have 10 event photos for a 2 page layout, and one of the important photos is landscape and the rest are portrait orientation? UGHGHGHGHGH

I don’t like repetitive events- birthdays and holidays. There’s so much sameness. But in the same breathe those are important to document to see traditions, changes in groups of people and so on. I also don’t like to scrap current events.
