No set time. I think having kids in sports for so many years encouraged us to be more fluid in times. For as left brained as I am with some things, eating times are quite random. I just consider anything I eat before noon is breakfast and the last meal I eat is dinner. I would say our dinnertimes are generally 5-8. We usually eat before 6:30, but on the days my husband works until 7:30,I'll usually join him for something quick when he gets home.

Single, retired. Weekdays I eat dinner about 6pm. I tend to skip lunch on weekends and eat around 4. I like to leave room for nighttime noshing.

We typically have supper around 8:00 p.m. most of the year but in the winter, tend to eat around 6:30 since it gets darker much earlier.

Hee hee! We eat our evening meal between 5:00 and 6:00, but we usually call it SUPPER . I often say "ready or not, it will be on the table by 5:30" If we had a bigger meal at mid day we would call THAT "dinner", but as it is, we have breakfast, lunch and supper. My grandma called last meal supper too. Dinner was a late lunch, early supper. She was from North Dakota.

Dinner is between 5:30 and 6:00 pm. Both kids need plenty of time for food to start to digest due to GI conditions.

Usually between 7 and 8pm. The earliest I finish work is 5.30 and often I'm not home until 6.30 or 7pm. Even if I'm working from home I wouldn't eat earlier than 7pm.

5:30
Anything later just feels wrong. Especially if there are kids involved.
If we are going to a restaurant I need to be there by 5. I can’t stand being at a restaurant during busy hours or if there’s a wait.

Our dinner time has moved a lot over the years, shifting with work/school/sport schedules.
My preference is to eat after 6:30, closer to 7 or 7:30. We never make reservations for earlier than 7:30.
Right now on weeknights I have dinner ready between 4:30 & 5. DH rarely eats during the day and is hungry when he get home so it is easier to have it ready than deal with hime making something to snack on while I try get dinner together. It feels like half DS's classes are in the 5-9pm time slot and he prefers to eat before logging on. I won't eat until later.
Weekends we eat later.

Any time from 5:00 to 8:30, depending on the kids' schedules.
Left to my own devices, I usually eat between 6-7.

5:30 on the dot. Sometimes doggy can convince dinner is ready a little earlier and coax him to the kitchen.

5:30-6. During the school year I need to be in bed by 9:30 at the latest. I don’t like to eat so close to bedtime.

With my Dad living with us we have gone back to supper close to 5:30, although M-Th DH eats when he gets home from work, usually between 6:30 and 7. Mom had supper on the table at 5:30 every weeknight for my entire childhood.
I usually start prep between 4:00 and 5:00 depending on the menu.
When it was just DH and I, I would wait for DH to get home and we would eat 6ish or later. Sometimes I would cook, but sometimes DH was fine with sandwiches or cereal.
Now I am cooking a meat, potatoes or other starch, veg and salad almost every night. Oh, and DD is vegetarian/pescaterian so that adds more work.
There are some nights that I go in the kitchen at 4 and don't get out until almost 8. Ugh.

Dinner is always at noon.
Supper can be very fluid. Anywhere from 6 to 8:30, depending on the season and how busy we are.
I grew up with the word "Dinner" as the noon meal. Is that a Midwest thing? A rural thing?

At home....usually at 7:00pm to 8:00pm.
If going out to dinner with someone, 5:00pm to 7:00pm. If I am eating dinner earlier than usual, I just have a light snack for lunch or do a later breakfast and skip lunch. I usually don't eat lunch until 12:30pm to 2:00pm. Usually later rather than earlier.

When I was growing up my dad got home at 5:30 and we would be ready to eat right then. So I tend to think of that as dinner time, but depending on what I'm making it's often later than that. (If my husband is cooking it's always later than that!)

Usually around 6:00. DH works until 4:30-5:00 and he typically cooks. He is always changing diets and I got tired of trying to figure out what he wanted to eat, so now I just let him handle it and DD and I go along with whatever he wants to do. If he’s at one of his leagues, DD and I are usually more flexible about it. We’re also way more flexible about what constitutes “dinner” too.
DH’s sister would always have to have dinner ready at 5:00 on the dot. She was so rigid about it. Any time it was one of her kids’ birthdays she would insist on having us come over for dinner and it would always be at 5:00 on the kid’s actual birthday which was a huge PITA on weeknights. Drove us both nuts because we would always end up having to leave work early to get across town on time. Our thought was, does it really *have* to be on their actual birthday? Why can’t you just do it on the closest weekend like everyone else in the world does? 🙄

We just finished dinner. It is 8pm. This is pretty normal especially in summer. When the teens stay at grandma’s they eat dinner at like 4:30pm and then snack for all the hours until bedtime hahaha

Usually sitting down right about 6 if we’re eating at home. I get up at 5 and am in bed at 9 most nights. I don’t like to eat too close to when Im going to bed.
I don’t snack after dinner but DH and DH often have popcorn after I go to bed.

I like to eat early. 6:30 is our usual dinner time but if DH works late, I'll eat at 5:30. I don't like going to bed feeling full or bloated.

In the summer we usually eat between 7 and 8, maybe as late as 830. In the winter usually by 6.
To me, "Sunday dinner" is the meal you eat your grandmother's house after church. At my great grandmother's house, that also meant eating from china dishes and drinking iced sweet tea out of crystal glasses. Lemon slices were arranged on a pretty little dish, maybe with a tiny fork alongside. Her father was a sharecropper who lived in Eastern North Carolina and had 5 or 6 daughters (no sons). Every one of them pursued some kind of training (nursing or teaching) after high school.
That's the only time I've had "dinner" ... otherwise it's lunch or supper!

I grew up with the word "Dinner" as the noon meal. Is that a Midwest thing? A rural thing? I don't think so...it varies in the UK too. Dinner to me, signifies the main, hot meal of the day whenever it is eaten. We used to have b'fast, dinner and tea when I was a child. Then it became b'fast, lunch and dinner. Except on Sundays when the main meal of the day is Sunday Lunch - a roast Supper, to me, is really when we've had a main meal in the middle of the day for some reason and will have something like soup/cheese on toast/jacket potato in the evening. Tea could be sweet things like a jam sandwich but supper is always savoury to me. I think there are many variations of how those words are used in different areas, countries and families

On the nights I cook, it's usually around 730. I like to get a workout in after work and walk the dog, so by the time I get dinner ready, it's after 7. On my leftovers nights, I usually eat by 630. On the weekends, it's closer to 830 or 900.
