My aunt died this weekend. No one knows how to reach her son (in his 50s). He has no social media footprint. His last listed address is his sister's house, where he definitely does not live. I am usually good at finding people, but I am having trouble. He is most likely in his home city (which is very large), because at least as of a few years ago, he never had left it.
Any ideas of resources I can use to find him? Her funeral will be in a week and the family would at least like to let him know about her death and the funeral.

Would he own a home in his home city? If you know the county, you could maybe access the County Assessor's page and search for his parcel. Some counties list the parcels by name, some (like mine) don't but it might be a start?
I know you said he doesn't have a social media footprint but how about Linked In? Even if he doesn't do FB or Instagram or the like, he may have his information (usually business/professional) listed?

I probably should have mentioned, he has a lifetime substance use disorder and is sporadically employed; he has frequently been homeless.

Can you check with the homeless shelters in the town where he likely lives? They usually know where the person works (if he works), if he's not staying there. Most of them know quite a bit about the people that stay there. I visited a men's shelter with my church group last year, and they require IDs of the people who stay there, as well.

If you think he may have been detained by the police in the past you might try contacting them. I know when a friends son died in another state she was notified by a police officer.

I was also going to suggest the police. Maybe soup kitchens or churches?

Have you tried googling his name and see if a cell phone number comes up? Or if you know the name of anyone he sees or hangs out with, search for their phone number as well.
Does he get welfare, medicaid, disability, etc.... If so , see if social services has a contact phone or address for him. They can't give out his personal information, but maybe they can leave him a message to get in touch with a family member asap.

Have you checked familytreenow.com? Enter his name and city and see if a phone number comes up?

If he has a history of substance abuse, does he have a history of being arrested, lodged in the local county/city jail? Arrest records are often public and may include last known address. Sometimes, it'll show where arrested or by whom. Maybe you could get in touch with an officer that has interacted with him who may be able to help you track him down?

Do you know any friends or associates that might have social media? You could go through them to contact him? It is tough when there is no contact. I hope you can get a hold of him.

A church affiliation or a substance abuse recovery program might allow you to leave information even if they couldn't share a contact number.
