We answered on the original posting. As YOU have said the information was not complete. You family does have a history here. You claim to be KIN and refer to your siblings, therefore the original poster is your mother. Truth is lacking from you and your kin!

OMG ! Your Kin (mother or step-mother?) ask the peas for their opinion and she got it! She was rude as fuck. Her kids were rude as fuck. Nothing you said in your weird disparaging post about that family will change that fact. What gives you the right to take their inventory? Even if what you state is true (and I don't believe you, if it was as bad as you stated, why would she let her children go there.), your kin (how weird) was not just rude but mean.

I can't decide if I want to nominate "Kin-gate" or "Poor-gate" as the classification, for when this thread gets added to the two-2 peas Hall Of Fame. Unless, someone else has a better nomination.

Yes, it needs a name. Poorgate gets my vote since this thread was dominated by poverty talk for the first few pages. But then the Kin thing entered the picture with that CVS receipt length post and now it's kind of hard to ignore it. So, PoorKin-gate?

Can we just go ahead and give this thread an early admission to Pea Lore? We're getting close to French teenager territory. 🤣 This was my thought… This will go down as a legendary pea/refupea story.

You may be wondering with my stated opinion on internet discourse why I would even bother to submit a comment of my own. Well, the answer is very simple; I am a family member of the Original Poster and starter of this thread. It has come to my attention that my close kin has not relayed the situation with enough context to allow for proper scrutiny of her actions. As it seems, without proper context, her actions seem rather cruel and heartless while that is not at all the case. Holy shitballs. This is gold!!! It could be a French teenager? Or perhaps in this case a Kentucky Kin???

This is really fabulous. I think the “kin” / “older sibling” must have been born circa 1800, because his or her writing style is definitely reminiscent of the American Romanticism of the mid-19th century.
It’s especially rich coming from (if I have this right) home-schooled rural Kentucky, and with a mom or stepmom who can barely put together a sentence in standard English. Although, of course, there were notable spelling and grammatical errors even in the most pompous, self-congratulatory passages.
I’m definitely a fan.

samhain34 a question or two if you please.... When you, ur siblings and ur "kin" were living in hotels with 20 ferrets... would you have been classified as "poor"? Would it have UPSET you or ur kin to be told that "yes you are poor" to your face based on ur living conditions... the no formal housing and way toooo many rodents? Don't you dare say no... (lol) That's not really reading between any lines or trying to interpret body language... its just plain rude!! When the peas are in agreement....

Well Anaterra, I shall gladly answer you. In referencing our unfortunate motel stays it seems you wish to make a point and have me declare that if anyone were to say we were poor that I’d be upset. Contrary to any formulated or pre-conceived belief I would not be upset. In the eyes of the ordinary we would have seemed poor, yes. However, unlike the family of the ex-friends of my siblings, we did not choose to live in such a state. Depending on the time frame you are referencing, for I am not overly acquainted with all the posts that mother dear has plastered on this site and its predecessor over the years; you must be leaning to the whole dumpster fire that was Fort Hood Housing. The deal here was, is that we were forced into a motel when our housing proved to be dangerous and highly inadequate for occupation. Residing in a motel while the Fort Hood Housing office tried to remedy their mistake was our only option; least we wished to pay out our own pocket instead of taking the lining of theirs for a motel stay. Nonetheless, we worked our way out of that situation and made do with what we had available and attempted to make our stay as homey as it could be.
Referencing our ferrets as “rodents” I can see as a blow. However they are not ‘Rodents’, they are weasels and apart of the Mustelidae family. Carnivorous, they are the hunters of rodents and do not carry many zoonotic diseases that true rodents would. So adding them in part to try and paint a picture of desolation and dirty conditions of motel living that we did not endure is quite entertaining to me.
And no; I “wouldn't dare say no.” But since you are using this quote to try and trip me, my answer is I would indeed say ‘Yes’.

More then 10... that is a lot!! To most people The whole point of my post however was to basically say yall were doing what you had to do... living in a hotel because of a situation beyond ur moms control... She would not have been happy to have that situation tossed in her face... so because she has been in those shoes... she SHOULD have a little more empathy for another mother (neighbor) doing whatever she needs, has or chooses to do for her own family... without judgment...

I am not saying that my mother had no empathy for the other children’s mother. She had plenty and was indeed concerned with their well being. She had only become confused when the mother had started using her compassion as a gateway to gather freebies. This woman said she “loved” and “wanted to live the old ways” but it was clear in her actions and interactions she was anything but pleased with her conditions. Instead of purchasing a shed that could be returned with no fuss or even land that could be given back with no real score impact; she could have rented a lovely, small apartment close to her husbands work while they got back on their feet….
There was no judgement, just the obvious stated points that caused the children’s mother to fly into rage. While I will admit what my brother said was rude to those who do not think like he does; his statement was not meant to be rude. To him, it was as if he were stating that the leaves on trees are green, nothing else.

I can give your brother a pass... a lot of us have people somewhere on the spectrum that we know n love... but this isnt really about him anyway
This thread is about your mom asking if she was an ass... we mostly agreed that yes, she was...
Then you came in brand new lecturing us, like we are children who dont know anything, about why it was ok for her to treat this other woman the way she did...
Your mom asked a question... got lots of answers she didn't like... you came to help us understand...
In my opinion you both need to do a little looking in the mirror...

It's fascinating that your kin has, apparently, managed to homeschool you into writing like a school girl from the 1800's while completely falling to teach you the art of not bring a jerk. I did attempt to read your novel, but Chapter 1 of Why These People Aren't Poor and My Kin Is Not an A-Hole was boring.

Ah, it seems that I have given the wrong impression that I am solely home-schooled. Since my writing and diction are vastly different than that of my mothers it would bring one to a confusing conclusion that it was somehow her that taught me how to write this way. Unfortunately, I was only homeschooled for approximately 1 year before my entrance into high school and earning my diploma. This reminiscences of the 19th century American romanticism is purely brought on by the wonderful history novels that I indulged daily as a youngster and their way with words has truly left their mark. This writing has followed me even into my current college career.
Being a jerk hm? I was only matching the energy of all the lovely participants here, for one cannot get a word in edge-wise if they are not matching the conversation.
