Our previous cat had very short hair and required essentially no grooming. Not the case with the kittens. They’ve got medium length hair and due to its texture, I can tell it’s going to require regular grooming and bathing. I need to get both shampoo and some new grooming tools.
I haven’t had a long haired cat since high school and have no idea what kind of shampoo I used back then lol
What are your favorite cat shampoos and grooming tools?

I have very short haired Cornish Rex cats, but I tried bathing the female because she had oily skin. The bath itself went fine, but her brother spent the next day attacking her until she smelled back to normal. It was absolutely horrible.

We've had many cats and never bathed them. Our current medium hair did a pretty good job bathing herself and keeping her hair nice until she got old. I've been looking for something to deal with the knots (a brush isn't cutting it anymore).

We had a long haired cat once. The only time we gave her a bath is when she got some poop stuck to her behind. And even then, we only washed her rear end.
We would just brush her regularly. I liked the “brush” that was like a metal comb that bends. She liked it and it took a lot of fur off.

What type of brush will depend on the type of fur. Most brushes work fine on our male cat, but they don’t work on our female. Her fur is so fine, they don’t remove any fur. The only one that really works is the silicone brush, where the hair basically sticks to the brush. Then the lint brush to remove as much loose fur as possible.
Our male has this ridiculous undercoat, so we have a furminator that he hates but tolerates as it really removes a ton of fur.
My advice is brush often, everyday if possible. We do not bathe our cats, either. Spot washing when necessary.

I'm sorry, but when I saw the word CAT in your title, the first thing I thought was a groomer's number. Good luck with this endeavor!
