My Samsung front loader bit the dust. I’ve had plenty of issues with all my Samsung products so that’s on brand I’d like to stay away from. Any feedback is very much appreciated!

My Whirlpool Cabrio (Top load) is still going strong. The dryer bit the dust this past winter and I got an LG one. The washer is going to be 6 years old this Sept.

I do a lot of laundry. More than a typical household so it really has held up well.

If I have to replace my washer or dryer, I'm going with a Maytag Commercial washer or dryer. I don't want any electronics, just a plain old washer or dryer.

Speed Queen commercial. Nothing compares. Mine pre-dates the mandatory "high efficiency" mandate  - but the new ones are really good yet. I think you need to use the "NON-HE" setting on them to get the really good wash. The HE machines just do not clean well. You can dispute that to high heaven with me, but they don't They will clean basic everyday laundry ok, but I have dirty, bloody, poopy, sweaty, greasy - rancher - laundry. My HE machine was a hot mess. Ended up getting the Speed Queen as a second machine. The HE sits now. I run something not very dirty through it occasionally just to keep it sound. My Speed Queen will do a load in under 30 minutes and it is CLEAN. No fancy lights or bells and whistles. Just basic clean, and made in the USA> |

We are on our second set of LG machines (we left a fairly new set in the old house when we sold it). I'm super pleased, although I must say we don't do heavy-duty laundry. With just DH and I, we get by on two loads a week plus any towel loads and sheets/blankets loads. NOTHING like the laundry we did with three kids.

My appliance repair guy that I trust said Samsung makes good TVs and phones--that's it.
Our Samsung washer died after about 5 years. It was some computer thingy that they don't make anymore--so that you have to buy another.
I reluctantly did buy another Samsung because it pretty much matched my Samsung dryer that still works. I'm told that dryers last a lot longer than washers.
I also had a Samsung fridge that died after 5 years. The ice maker had gone after about a year but we had some type of warranty on that.
Luckily i have a 34 year old GE side by side fridge (pre energy saver) in our garage that keeps cranking on.

Speed Queen forever! I agree with everything [mention]iowgirl [/mention]said. I have Speed Queen commercial in my Home Ec classroom. I am doing laundry all the time. I love it so much, I got a set for my house. It has the center agitator which many machines don’t have anymore. No fancy bells and whistles, it just gets your laundry really clean!

Another vote for Speed Queen. I got mine in 2018 and never looked back. Nothing fancy, but man, it gets clothes clean and is pretty fast, too.
We have a lake house than came with an LG front loader and I hate that thing with the fire of a thousand suns. The cycles take forever and you can’t soak anything in it (I’m a runner and my workout clothes get pretty gross).

My washer died like 3 weeks ago. I dread going to shop for a new one. I'm currently going to my SO's to do my wash there. Until his brother complains I'll just keep going there to do my wash.

I have a Maytag set - its relatively new. They had the same model with an agitator and one without. The dryer door opens down, not to the left or right and it is a steam dryer even though I do not have that part hooked up.
I'm happy with it. The only thing I do not like is that without an agitator, occasionally sheets or blankets will get off balance. I knew this going in so I'm living with it. Also, the tub on the washer is huge. If you are 5 feet tall you may not be able to reach the bottom of it!

My last 3 washer/dryers were Whirlpool Cabrio. I only bought new ones because we moved and left those behind. I didn't like the top loading one bc it had no agitator and was always getting off balance. I love the front load ones though, no issues.

We had a Miele front load washer and dryer that took us through 15 years with a family of 6. Love the quality, not the front load wash capability as much, until I switched to non-scented powder detergent and made sure to not overfill and dirty clothes needed the heavy wash cycle. Compared to anything else I've ever looked at, though, they are built like tanks. Although I did manage to knock the drum out of alignment with too many jeans in a load recently, but I definitely got my 15 years worth out of that washer! We had a technician out once on our Miele coffee maker and they were great to deal with and a couple of times DH has needed parts, they have sent them for free.
We switched to LG top loading and so far, I'm happy with the wash capabilities and options. Thing feels like a throwaway machine compared to my Miele though. And we did have a potential warranty issue that we finally solved with micro adjustments to the leveling. When I initially contacted them about the loud clanging sound at the beginning, I can tell ya LG's customer service is a PITA (although they were responsive, just took effort to get there).

We got a matching set of LG when a friend moved and didn’t want to take the washer because it leaked and the dryer because it’s gas and they only had electric where they were moving. The set was almost $2K new!
DH looked at the washer and bought a manifold whatever on Amazon for $30 and it’s run awesome since.
I got rid of my front load (buh bye no tears there!) and love love love this top load!
Both washer and dryer are ultra high capacity. I wash queen size quilts no problem. I can do laundry for our family of 4 for a week in 2 loads! I can wash my cal king sheets and ds’s twin sheets plus DD’s full sheets all in one load! It’s got a “bulky bedding” setting that I use when washing sheets. There’s no agitator.
I’d buy it again if I were purchasing a washer and dryer.

I got this LG top loader 4 years ago and love it. Plenty of water. I would say the only disadvantage is that most of the cycles take longer than my 25 year-old washer. The matching dryer is nothing special. LG Washer |

I had my Samsung front loader for 11 years and then it died. We bought another Samsung because it matched the dryer and I loved mine.
If I could have bought a new set with dryer I would have bought LG. My new Samsung washer is not as good as my old one.

I'm gonna need to look into the "Speed Queen" when our washer breaks. Do they also make a dryer?
We have had our Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer set for about 13-15years. (Front loader) My husband has had to replace a few minor parts over the years. We have the riser base drawers underneath both. I'm guessing we won't be able to use those if we get a new set of washer/dryer.

We're in the middle of a house build right now, and choosing appliances is HARD. The best advice I have is to call local appliance repair people; see what they service and recommend. I can almost bet you they will give major stars to Speed Queen. It's been the gold standard for years. The only drawback is SQ doesn't have the capacity of some of the others, so if really large loads are a must, SQ might not be for you. LG top-loaders (NOT front loaders) also get high marks, and Maytag seems to be in the top 3.

Our washing machine broke a couple of months ago and the repair guy recommended Whirlpool and Home Depot. So we looked at Home Depot and chose a top loading Whirlpool washer with a glass lid that has a removable agitator. I love it! I can remove the agitator for large load and then put it right back in for normal loads. I love the see through lid-so handy.
Our dishwasher broke down just last week and we replaced it with a Whirlpool dishwasher.

He always recommends Speed Queen or Huebsch (if you are in Canada- same company) He has a great account with lots of demos, and reviews. Ohh, thanks for that. I didn't think Speed Queen was available herr and have heard so many good things about them. I got a top loading LG 2 years ago to replace my front loading Kenmore. It's so much better. |
