i recently replaced my front loader with a top loading hoping i could have the high-water levels that the old school washing machines had. these high efficiency washers just don't fill up or agitate like the old machines used to.
i got a Maytag with "commercial technology" and although it has a deep-fill feature, the agitator is not as powerful as the old machines. even in the "power wash" mode, it's not as strong. and don't get me started on how long these loads take. i swear, i just need to find an old maytag like i had when i got married.

I'm gonna need to look into the "Speed Queen" when our washer breaks. Do they also make a dryer? Yes they do. I've had a Speed Queen washer and dryer for about 8-9 years. Love them!

I have a Maytag that is about 15 years old now. I will be devastated when my washer dies. I have one that is older than that, probably about 25 years old, and I am not getting rid of it. I just spent $350.00 getting some much needed repairs and new hoses. I have been told by repairmen to keep it, and I think that they are right.

I was just painting our laundry room and moved the washer and dryer. It had a date of 2006 on the back. They both still run like new. They are LG front loaders. One benefit of a front loader is all of the extra space you get. Not everyone needs it, but we lost our desk area in a kitchen remodel and we really needed some space for paperwork.

I have an Electrolux set I’ve been very happy with. Plus…they’re so pretty 😍 (metallic dark blue)

It has worked well for years. I wasn’t sure that I could still get parts, but so far so good, and for relatively little money. A lot of people got new ones, and I get wanting a machine that can handle bigger loads.

It has worked well for years. I wasn’t sure that I could still get parts, but so far so good, and for relatively little money. A lot of people got new ones, and I get wanting a machine that can handle bigger loads. i got one of those newer machines that can handle bigger loads. the trade off is that even though you can put more stuff in the machine, you don't get as much water as you do with the older machines. especially with the front loaders. they only fill enough to wet the clothes. it's that whole water-saving, water efficiency thing. sure you can wash a comforter but you're never really sure how well it cleaned because you barely get enough water to wash or rinse it. even with double rinse. my new machine has a huge drum but i don't overload it. i use deep fill so there is enough water to cover what's in the tub. not overfilling leaves some room for stuff to swish around. unfortunately, the swish isn't the great agitate you got with the old machines. again, "high efficiency". and my new machine wasn't cheap. it's a maytag too but not a good ol' maytag from yesteryear.
