I had an off taste to my tea on Wednesday (12/22) Friday (12/24) I started thinking it was allergies, took Zyrtec. By 4 that afternoon my back was soooo achy and my body started hurting. Shortly after my fever shot up to 104 where it stayed for 3 days. I didn’t even have the energy to scroll Facebook! I basically slept Christmas Eve thru Boxing Day. I tested positive on a rapid 12/27, positive on PCR 12/29. I didn’t continue to test until I was negative. I have no idea how long I would have tested positive. I went back to work 1/4.
Please tell me you tested and were negative before you returned to work......please let that be true.
Nope. I contacted my principal and district nurse and followed their guidance. I gave them all the dates and test info and let them make the call. Both said that as long as symptoms had been gone for 5 days (last symptom Monday 12/27) and I was fully vaxxed (not boosted), I was cleared to return. My 10 year old had to stay home extra days since she didn’t test positive until 12/29. She was out the full week we returned since she was not vaxxed. My 6 year old tested negative 12/29, not vaxxed and was allowed back 1/4 with me. Had I waited until I tested negative I could have been out for up to a month. I get 10 days a year.

Glad it didn't attack your lungs! Hmm, I've been taking Sudafed because I thought I had a sinus infection. I really can't tell with my normal illnesses (sinus issues, migraines, allergies....).
I should have called my doctor yesterday. That was dumb of me not to call, but I was focused on my nephew's health (he's got more breathing issues than I do). Maybe I'll write her via her portal anyway. Thanks.

Sorry you went through that. 104 fever is scary!! I haven't had a fever in forever (thankfully), and no body aches. My taste has been "off" due to my stomach issues (for months), but the body aches is specific & I'll look out for that + fever. I'm still weak because my appetite isn't fully back yet. I'd come home from work and just collapse. ONE more question--you took a rapid test at home, and then went for a test via your pharmacy (or County)?? Wondering how you felt up to doing that. Luckily I'm off for the next couple of weeks, so I'm trying to think of the positive...

I’m finishing day 6 of COVID now, have Scleroderma, asthma and am moderately immunosuppressed. I have done ok with it. Have on hand an expectorant, if possible. I took a generic Dayquil type med every day since it started, and feel it helped. I think it kept my temp down (highest was 102) and my secretions thin enough to cough up, because that was my main concern. My daughter, who lives with me, tested positive (with lesser symptoms than I ultimately had) two days prior to my first true symptoms, so I just expected that I would have it. I didn’t test positive until 2 days after the onset of those symptoms. Sorry your household is dealing with it, I hope he’s feeling better soon and that you somehow escape it, but if not, you will likely do just fine! Drink lots of water and make sleep a priority as much as you’re able to. Good luck! I'm SO glad you did okay with Covid. Sorry you had to go through that though.
This is day 3 since my nephew began his symptoms. We're all still negative so far. I do drink lots of water & have Liquid I.V. on hand in case I don't feel like drinking enough water. I'll check to make sure I could take Dayquil or anything similar since I'm on a lot of meds. Thanks.
And, YES, the cough and my lungs are the most worrysome part for me. I hear my nephew hacking in his room, but he insists that he's fine with the emergency inhaler.
Hoping we all escape this very close call & I hope you're feeling back to yourself by now. Hugs to you! xo

Just know that even w/your health issues if you were to test positive you might not feel that badly. My mil has congestive heart failure, tested positive for 10 days and felt fine. She was bored, because she had to quarantine in her apartment at independent living. We all assumed that if she got covid things would be bad. She felt fine the entire time. Hopefully, you avoid it completely. If not, I hope it's just a very light case w/boredom as the only symptom.

We were on Christmas Break and not seeing anyone so didn’t bother testing until after Christmas weekend. We all went for the PCR at the local library the first day it was offered after Christmas (12/29). We live pretty rural so not lots of services/testing availability. My DD had a cough and low grade fever for about 6 hours the day she PCR tested. Since we were all together while I was sick no one quarantined from eachother, we went to the mountains an hour away and played in the snow and my FIL’s house while they were away for a month on 12/30). We didn’t see anyone or interact with anyone but ourselves. They had an outdoor fireplace and bathroom accessible from outside so we didn’t need to go into their house. 4 people in the house.. me 2 shot Pfizer vaxxed (super sick), DH 2 shot Pfizer vaxxed (negative), dd not vaxxed (super mild sick for less than half a day), and ds not vaxxed (negative). No one stayed away from anyone. DH still shared the bed with me. DS snuggled with me trying to help me feel better. DD stayed away from me, Weird how some get sick and some do not.

My sister had a rough time of it. Her granddaughter who is staying with her has not contracted the virus. I know of someone who tested positive and tried to go to work the next day. She was wearing a mask and told her supervisor that she was wearing a mask 'cause she was positive. He sent her out of the building and to her car with her protesting, "It is OK, I am wearing a mask." sheesh.......this is why it continues to spread! Sorry about your sister's rough time. I guess her granddaughter's immune system is strong?
ITA about people ignoring the CDC guidelines. That's ALL we've thought about for 2 years because of Gary. We protected him at every cost. Barely anyone here wears a mask, and I'm assuming that anyone I'm within 6 feet of either is carrying Covid or has it. Keeps me safer. This round of it seems to be very contagious despite having been vaxxed/boosted. I'm even thinking that I have to pick up my pain Rx on Monday. I'll go via the drive-thru and wear a mask and maybe gloves. Wish I didn't have to go out but they don't deliver certain meds and only my DH was approved to be an alternate person to pick them up. I'll be careful for the next week.
My sis thought that we were being extreme by not going out to eat or to the movies, etc. Sorry, but we're still very careful here because the majority of the State is not.

If you ate circulating air, shut and cover the vents in his room. If you can’t vent outside, put fans inside his door pointing into his room. Ventilation is important—at least try to not bring his air into the rest of your home.

Ventilation is important—at least try to not bring his air into the rest of your home. If we cover his a/c vent, he won't get the cold air. It gets really hot this time of year in FL. The real-feel is about 106. With his temp going up (on and off), he'll be boiling hot.... Plus, we have no fans. (Good ideas though! He's supposed to fly home to NY on Sunday night, which is the 5th day of it. Right now I'm not sure of anything!!).

Pretty sure this is the up-to-date protocol. I didn't test again after I was diagnosed because they're saying that you could continue to test positive for up to 90 days. That doesn't mean you're contagious for 90 days, though. I think I waited 10 days after the positive test (and I had seen significant improvement) before I left the house.

Today, my sister took her son out for a short walk. He was SO bored being stuck in the guest room for days. They wore masks, stayed apart from each other and didn't come across other people here. Other than that, she has limited contact with him and we've been wiping everything down & spraying Lysol. We're all sleeping in 4 different rooms & he doesn't come out of his room. I feel badly but we have to be as safe as we could be.

Thank you! Hugs right back atcha. I hope you can relax soon - although this variant is super contagious, it’s pretty damn mild. That’s what we’re seeing at work and that’s how it felt as a patient. 👍🏼

That’s really all you can do. I hope you and your sister and dd continue to test negative! We were with my SIL and Her DH and 2 kids for 5 days 2 weeks ago. We went to lunch with FIL and his wife on Saturday. Wife got sick and tested positive on Sunday, FIL got sick and tested positive on Monday. Niece got sick and tested positive on Wednesday. My dd was snuggling and sleeping in the same bed with my niece. No one but my niece tested positive! We all did rapids in this house because we had friends coming to visit this past weekend. SIL’s house all tested negative on a PCR except for niece. Again, no one was quarantining away from anyone in her house.

Luckily I'm off for the next couple of weeks, so I'm trying to think of
@bergdorfblonde . Have you heard anything from that family that didn’t pay you for six weeks? I hope you find something because you are going to be taking care of both of those kids.

Luckily I'm off for the next couple of weeks, so I'm trying to think of @bergdorfblonde . Have you heard anything from that family that didn’t pay you for six weeks? I hope you find something because you are going to be taking care of both of those kids. Yes I just did, yesterday! My cellphone died (dead, dead) on my last scheduled day of Nannying there. Same day as the 15 month old did the same thing to the Roku. Not sure what's in her copious amount of spittle, but it killed my phone. Had to wait a week for a replacement, and I didn't have her cell #. I finally got to text her to see how her labor went and she sent me a bunch of pics. She seemed very sweet.
I wrote back and asked what date she wanted me back. She took overnight to answer me and apologized for "being so busy". Understandable. She said, "I was thinking of August 1st, and it'll be part-time". She followed it with saying how much the toddler misses me (I'm sure she does!). Niceeeeeeeeee! So, 6 unplanned, unpaid weeks off and now it'll be only part-time?? I asked how many hours it would be and I stressed that I'd only be watching the one toddler. No response yet.
I've been in touch with a number of people looking for a Nanny. The ones that are closer to me pay much less and they expect you to watch a few children or transport them. No thanks. Still looking. But, yeah, the family that hired me just instantly became more weird. Still, I'll keep their offer in my back pocket in case I don't find anything else.
Thanks for asking.

If your nephew is sick enough to need his rescue inhaler, he needs to see a doctor. Call for him. He does use it very often to begin with, depending on the season, etc., so my sis isn't too surprised. Every time I hear him cough, I want to take him to an urgent care (no doctors are open today), but my sis says that he does cough like this when his asthma is worse. His breathing is okay. His temp has been at around 99. He's eating, sleeping and going online.
All 3 of us tested negative today. I'm surprised because all 3 of us seem to be having more symptoms today. Feels like a golfball in our throats, feel like we all have a fever and we're all achy. Time will tell. Ugh.

I tested positive ten days ago. I'm still testing positive (although the line is super faint...I don't know if that means anything!) DH and I have stayed on separate floors for the most part. We wear masks around each other, keep lots of windows open throughout the day, he's sleeping in a guest room, and we eat our meals on the porch, sitting far apart from each other. He's still testing negative. We've tried to be super careful because of what needs to happen at work. Others have come down with covid, which has made things very complicated. DH is it...there is no plan B. If he gets sick, I'm not sure what will happen. He's it! We just have to get through next Tuesday!
My covid went all into my sinuses and my throat. I had a cough, the sore throat was like the one I got when I had mono in college. I never felt feverish so I didn't take my temp. I didn't have breathing issues, at all. Counting my lucky stars for that!

My nephew stays in the guest room & uses a separate bathroom, but I think it was too late already (when he tested positive). Now DD, my sis and I are all pretty sure we have it. It DOES feel like mono-accurate comparison.
I called my PCP's office just to report that I was exposed (& it's close quarters) and that even though I tested negative 3 times now, I'm pretty sure I have it. The dr on call ordered 2 Rx's and an Rx cough syrup. She said that I need to take it asap because of the COPD & that the home tests often test false negative. I'll pick up the meds tomorrow (they didn't fill it in time).
Hope you and DH feel better. Best wishes & hugs to you. xo
p.s. THANK YOU to all of the Peas who suggested I contact my PCP because of my COPD, even to say that I'm exposed...... Good idea! Thank you.

@bergdorfblonde are you all going to PCR test just to be sure? I hope you all get better quick and have a mild case if that’s what you’ve got.

@bergdorfblonde are you all going to PCR test just to be sure? I hope you all get better quick and have a mild case if that’s what you’ve got. My home test this morning was positive. No surprise. I'm most worried about my COPD because my chest hurts when I cough & I can't inhale too much. Pulse/ox is still in the 70's, so that's good.
I called my pcp last night and the dr on call supposedly sent 3 Rx's to my pharmacy. They never got it. I called her back, updated that I'm now testing positive and she re-sent the meds to the right pharmacy. She sent Azithromycin, Benzonatate and Prednisone. Hope that's the proper protocol. I already sent a note to my real primary via the portal, so she'll see it tomorrow morning. FUN!!!
DD34 just tested positive this morning. She's been vomiting all night and feels feverish and achy. Mine is more of a cough, achy, feverish, bad headache (but it's hard to tell!!). Nephew still feels crappy. My sis hasn't tested positive yet.

Well that stinks but you caught it early. I'm also an asthma sufferer and I felt like I had an awful sinus infection. I'm so happy it didn't go to my lungs! Feel better and let us know if you need anything

Well, shoot. I guess we expected this outcome, but I hate it for you. What about asking for that specific Covid protocol that people are getting? I don't know the name of it but it is specifically for Covid 19. Start on the meds already prescribed, of course, but I would ask about the availability of the Covid-specific protocol. I hear it works amazingly fast for people.
I understand your concerns. I also have severe asthma and the fear of being unable to get enough air is very scary. Additionally, I have sleep apnea where I stop breathing many times a night. I use a CPAP, but I sure don't want to be exhaling Covid germs into my machine and trying to disinfect it daily. I don't even know if that is possible to do. I wouldn't want to continually reinfect myself or to have to purchase a new machine since they are over $1,000.
Keep hydrated and rest as much as you can. This sure sucks for your visit with your sis. Hopefully, the new prescriptions will take away the most miserable of your symptoms. I will pray for a fast recovery period for all of you.

@bergdorfblonde is that a typo that your O2 sats are in the 70s? That's dangerously low, if so. If that's really where your levels are, you need to get to the hospital.
