I was there as a kid. It's...weird. And musty. And know that lots of the things in its "museums" are not originals, but reproductions or created for the house.
I found it off putting and odd.
But it's something to do, I guess?

We went in 2019. It was bizarre. And dusty. There’s so much stuff and after a while I was just mentally overwhelmed. Got a ton of steps that day though  |

I have been there a couple of times. Like others said it is weird and musty. Oldest dd was about 5 when we last went and she remembers it because of the naked lady carousel. I guess that really stuck with her. LOL

When we lived in Wisconsin, we weren't too far from there. We took the in-laws there once when they were visiting, and I went there with both girls on their class trips. As others said, it's musty... and dark in a lot of the rooms. The infinity room was cool for the kids... they thought it was neat to walk out over the nothingness below them!

Yes, I have been twice. It's a lot to take in. I love the original parts of the house, could totally live there with some new carpets (yes it's a little musty). The infinity room feels like it's going to give way any second, rather scary. I'm not sure you can still walk to the very end.
I like the dark streets of yesterday too. It feels very much like Something Wicked This Way Comes, that old movie with Jason Robard. Or that's the vibe it gives me.
I love the dollhouses too.

We’ve gone there a few times. I thought it was interesting in a weird and creepy way, LOL. It’s definitely dark and musty and a lot of levels. All those dolls and mannequins and taxidermy stuffed animals are creepy as hell.

I love creepy things so I guess that's why I liked it! It is a bit of sensory overload after a while though.

If you have read or watched American Gods, part of it takes place at the House on the Rock. I had actually put my name in when they were looking for extras for the show lol.

I was there, oh, probably close to 25 years ago now. I just remember thinking, "Why, just why?" And "There's still more?  " It was fascinating in a "well, that was certainly different" kind of way. |

I’ve visited the House on The Rock a few times. My husband had never been. It is a lot of walking. There is a snack bar about half way through. My husband kept on saying…we never have to visit this again. 😄

I haven’t been in years even though I live less than an hour away. I now also live an hour away and I haven't been there since I lived 6 hours away. Just the other day my husband and I were looking for something new to do and considered driving out there, but opted not to. |

I was there about 25 years ago. It was interesting enough and if we are ever in the area again, I'd probably visit again.

I can beat both of your answers....I live less than an hour away and I've never gone there! We drive through Spring Green on our way to my in-law's farm. Never had a desire to even consider stopping there. |

They were rather snooty there and wouldn't allow children in for a tour. That gave me a bad taste. I wouldn't bother to go back. I mean, it's a house, not Jesus' final resting place, get over yourselves. My kids were not the type to scream and yell but I suppose some are. Anyway, we left and found an ice cream parlor and creamery and that was probably more fun anyway. |

I haven't been and won't go out of my way to get there either. My mom visited when it was windy and not sure how the airflow worked where she was, but a pottery crock fell and hit her on the top of the head as she was going down a flight of stairs and knocked her unconscious. She had an attorney and reached a pretty small settlement with them, likely not enough as I suspect the headaches and vertigo that started after that were caused by it; she had never been in any serious accident or fall otherwise. That was many years ago now, though.

i was just there in June with 5 girlfriends. We went up to Spring Green (from MO) to tour Taliesin. We went to House on the Rock and I hated it.
Stinky, run down, creepy. I am claustrophobic and I had a full on panic attack in the house part. The ceilings are so low, it's so dark and smells awful.
All the dolls were freaky, including the 2 story doll carousel.
Never, ever again!
However, Taliesin is amazing. We absolutely loved it, and did the full tour of the house, school, grounds and other structures. Fabulous.
