I'm looking at security cameras for our front door. Prime Day has both Ring & Blink brands as deals.
Are any better over the other?
Wired or battery?
The plug in ones - couldn't somebody just unplug it from the porch wiring?
ETA - we ended up getting a 5 camera Blink system. The in-house module has space for a usb device to save recordings so no membership required.
DH is off next week so we will do all the installation then!

I‘ve had Blink for a month or so and have been pleased. We ended up with five cameras. You can have up to 10 on one sync module.
ETA- our are battery powered and we put them high enough that most people couldn’t reach them without a ladder.

I don’t have a lot of experience but I have blink indoor cameras and ring for front door. The blink cameras haven’t lasted as long but they are pretty easy to use.

I have one Ring camera - I was going to get the solar connector thing but honestly the battery lasts for a few months before needing recharging. Granted mine is able to be reached relatively easily. Otherwise I would probably get the solar thing that can connect.
It is $4 a month to save recordings - otherwise all you will have is live view. They give the first 30 days free. If you have more cameras I think there is a limit on the monthly charge. We love ours.

This may not help you but we went with Google Nest cameras and couldn’t be happier.

I'm not really liking our ring cameras. Despite our settings, the camera misses a lot of stuff. It barely catches packages being dropped off.

I have Blink, probably the first generation of blink cameras so i've had them a few years now. I like them, very easy to set up and easy to use. They use lithium batteries, which last quite some time. You can buy rubber protectors in colors which will make them blend into the surroundings better.
Not sure if anything has changed or if others brands differ, but the sync module plugs into the computer so our computer has to stay on. If we lose electricity and/or internet, the cameras go down. ds has a newer version of the blink cameras and he has to buy a subscription probably to save recordings whereas my cameras are grandfathered because they're old. I feel like he said it was around $100/year. I had read there was a possible component you could buy fairly cheaply that allowed you to bypass the subscription and have them save the recordings, but you'd have to look into that.
I don't know about someone stealing them...I have some in places people could definitely take it, but it would be recording them as they did. Good luck, I know I was overwhelmed with all the info out there when I was trying to decide which brand to go with.

Blink! I love them and we plug our sync thing in the wall. Require 4 AA lithium batteries.

Ring Doorbell 3. (There’s a newer version out now, the 4). Absolutely love it. Great color and clarity. It’s hard-wired, replacing the original doorbell on the house. The battery lasts a really long time, plus it needs to be removed with a screwdriver. It cannot simply be pulled off.

We have a Ring doorbell, Ring camera on the garage, and Ring window sensors. We've had them almost four years and no issues. We are very happy.

You can plug a flash drive into the sync module instead of paying subscription, not sure what features differ with that option. It is $100/yr for up to 10 cameras.

I have 5 Blink cameras - one on the front windowsill facing the carport, one on the front windowsill facing along the windowsill (Kitty Cam), one in the living room, one in the office and one in my bedroom. The office, living room and bedroom ones are only recording when I go out of town. Mine are all wired for power.
I have been very happy with them. I only wish they allowed bulk uploads when I want to save videos. I keep some of the cuter cat ones and the front door raccoon ones.
All of them but the front door cam have the ability to talk through them. It's a lot of fun when I go out of town to talk to the cats.

I have a Ring doorbell and love it. But cold winter weather drained the battery quickly, so I had it hard wired.
