This is post is less about Stampin Up! as I'm not a huge fan of their style of products (although I love their stamping platform) and I don't like their non-compete stuff but I find it disappointing that this youtuber portrays them as the bad guy against MSP. I really don't think the stamping platform patent is legitimate and considering the company went after all letterpress stamping platforms, Illuminaughtii has unfairly singled out Stampin'Up! In my opinion, since she doesn't have the patent in Europe, it says a lot about the product's originality. The video in case anyone is interested. youtu.be/019EO2hOCvQAs a side note, does anyone have any updates about the current state of affairs with this litigation?

In general, all MLM's are predatory but I'll be honest, I really like Stampin' Up and Close To My Heart. My consultants never have tried to pull me in and they don't have an in person inventory so I feel it's less predatory than MLM's like Lularoe and others. I haven't heard anything about ongoing litigation between MSP and SU.

Stampin’ Up is the only one who continued to stand up to MSP. Her stamp platform seemed to be an adaptation of a letter press, and she noted in her patent application that it was similar. However, she was granted a patent, and then she sued everyone else who came out with a stamp platform, no matter how unique theirs might be. I understand suing blatant copies, but Tim Holtz’ was significantly different, and Stampin’ Up was unique in its own way, too. I have both of the latter platforms. If she had created a truly unique invention, that would be different, but people used a letterpress for a stamping platform long before MSP ever came out with her adaptation.
I have a ton of stamps. I haven’t bought any stamps from SU for quite awhile, because they just aren’t my style, but I was impressed with their platform and bought it.
I already own a ton of stamps, dies, and other items similar to those that SU sells. They have some nice designs, but none that I feel I need.

The video in case anyone is interested. youtu.be/019EO2hOCvQAs a side note, does anyone have any updates about the current state of affairs with this litigation? There hasn't been anything new since about December last year. I've been following it on a legal page, but I've refused to make an account to see actual documents. Last entry was for a joint report having been filed between the parties. The case is still open and unresolved thus far, but I *think* the joint report means they are probably in a settlement phase. Can't swear to it though. That said, Sizzix just came out with their own platform that adds on even more to the ideas from both Tim Holtz's and Stampin' Up!'s platforms. I'm waiting to see if ms. MSP goes after them, too. If she doesn't, Stampin' Up! might have a small boost in being able to come back at her a bit. No real clue, really, what will happen. I have both the Tim Holtz and Stampin' Up! platforms - in multiples - and zero MSP/Misti. I haven't any plans on getting the Sizzix, either, at this time, but we'll see what happens down the road. And, that video was hideous, haha.
