I cleaned out our water bottle/extra cup/travel mug cabinet this morning. Had a water mug/jug that came home with me from the hospital when DD was born 23 years ago, tons of cheap plastic bottles from various promotional give-aways... Did a hard purge and there is so much more room in there now! But I think we may have an excessive amount of drinkware in general. In addition to above mentioned cabinet, we have two shelves of coffee mugs, a shelf for our "everyday" cups, and a shelf for glassware and wine glasses. Then there are more wine glasses in the dining room china cabinet and disposable plastic cups in the breakfast room hutch. The drinkware is multiplying! Does that happen to you with cups, dishes, utensils, small appliances, etc?

Oh yes, and it's worse because every single time we go out of town I feel the burning need to buy some souvenir tumbler or mug or something and I have SO. MANY.
I'm trying to stop doing that, and also stop with the T-shirts and sweatpants and all the other crap I feel I must have. I love crappy souvenir stuff. I still allow myself a magnet and postcard for the fridge.

That doesn't happen here, because we only have one shelf for drinkware. At my old job, my manager was always giving me a cute coffee mug for Christmas, which was nice, except that I don't drink coffee, and I don't have room for more mugs! Most of them went straight to the donate box, and the ones that didn't forced something else to go into the donate box to make room.

Oh yes. Tervis tumblers, mason jars, old glasses that are the last ones left in a set, travel cups. My cabinet is bursting at the seams. And DH will reach behind all of them to use some old, plastic souvenir cup.

Pretty glassware is my weakness. I have some old Fostoria crystal. A friend gave us a set of Waterford. DH has some Baccarat that he bought.
I loved the Pioneer Woman Adeline pattern clear glasses. I bought the iced tea size at Walmart several years ago, along with some other pieces of it, and have now found other pieces in matching pattern, that are not PW, but an exact match, so I have gone a little nuts.. I have iced tea, low ball, a rounded bottom low ball, medium size iced tea, berry bowls, sundae cups, water goblets, martini/margharita, punch cups/bowl, coffee cups, candy dish, and more.. it's a problem.

I collect mugs / drinkware, so my collection is constantly expanding and changing. My seasonal/holiday drinkware have their own storage containers in the basement. Makes me smile !

Not with our regular glassware. But in triathlon season DHβs workout plastic bottles tended to multiply after every race.

Donate them! I once cleared out all but 4 coffee mugs. I have 2 sets of dishes and they have cups, so I am prepared if company came. The mugs are creeping up again. I'll take them to donate when the cupboard is too full.

Yes! Add to that that dh drinks from mason jars (donβt ask me why). He also stores stuff in them in the pantry so if something in the pantry runs out, after the jar is washed it goes into the drinkware cabinetβ¦.then we have a ridiculous amount of jars π€¦π»ββοΈ Part of me wants to tear out that cabinet to make a larger opening for a bigger fridge but then what oh what do we do with all the drinkware π

Yes! Drinkware multiplies, but flatware disappears. π

No, because I have all my favorites (mugs, water glasses, juice glasses, etc... in the cupboard and won't add any "extra". Same with dishes, bowls, serve-ware, etc..
Years ago, I went through my stuff and keep maximum four of whatever the item and got rid of the rest. I don't enjoy entertaining. If I had anyone over, it's never more than 1-2 people.
If something breaks, then I replace it with something similar.
If I am gifted something that I don't want, won't use, doesn't match my stuff, etc..., "it's the thought that counts" >> I thank the giver for their kindness and generosity and put whatever the item in the donation box. I appreciate being gifted, but I am not keeping random stuff.

I've pretty much retrained myself now, though, to buy one Christmas ornament from every place we go. I have a special tree that all my travel ornaments go on now.

The opposite, actually.
We always seem to be down to our last three spoons, lacking forks, and not enough drinking glasses.
I think I have to replace them more than normal.

I live by myself. I have over 20 of both pint glasses and mugs. I can't resist either if I see one I like.

No, in fact we break it at alarming rates, so it is probably the most often replaced household item we own. And not just glassware---even reusable water bottles we beat up and break and they start leaking or they get out of shape (I accidentally left a full stainless bottle of water in the freezer over night. Oops. The bottom pops out in a completely round shape and therefore wouldn't stand on anything anymore.) and then they have to be replaced too. Plastic sports bottles tend to be left behind places. Yeah, we're chronically bad at caring for our drinkware.

Yes! DH is a business owner and can order any and all of the cups/drinkware that we want. We have so many stainless cups it's not funny. He also is able to engrave on them. He keeps bringing new ones home with our sports team, or related to his hobby, or some other cool thing he saw and engraved on there. I keep telling him "no more cups!!" then of course I see something that I NEED engraved on one and he brings it home for me. It's never ending!

Wellll not including my Starbucks You Are There or You Have Been there cups..... YES I do... haha..
And I have nowhere to put my tall tumblers. So they go on top of the fridge and I hate that. It's like they make babies.
I got two on our cruise that were part of a package.. then my tumblers mostly Starbucks but other ones thrown in.
I don't know how it happens.. lol
And can someone tell me why my pizza cutters all of a sudden decide to disappear? I had one for YEARS.. lost it. Bought another one.. two weeks later, gone. Bought another one... gone. My current one now has lasted six months.. knock on wood. I wonder if my wonderful kids throw them away all of a sudden.
