I don't know if it is just me noticing them more, but it seems that there are GRIDS everywhere! The most recent issue of The Creative Scrapbooker magazine has an article on how to use a grid to plan a page. And the SCT magazine is full of pages that look like they started with a grid. Maybe it is a nod to all the pocket scrapbook pages that the NON pocket pages are taking on the same look?
What is YOUR favourite overall page design? Do you like one photo with lots of layers? Multi photos tipped & overlapping? Sprinkles and clusters and depth? Or do you prefer clean lines and white space?
IS there a trend in page design? Do your pages follow that trend?

Prefer: one page with three different sized photos arranged in the middle--not making a "square" though. Then lots of layers of paper and embellishments as desired.
Go-to layout (but more work, so not really preferred): Two page "running band" (as I call it) with a lot of photos figuring out how to get them all to fit in together, with paper accents above and below, and larger embellishment or titling clusters on the right and left ends somewhere (photos don't run all the way to the right and left ends of the papers)

I’m very linear, usually a vertical band, large title, multi-photos (often a 4x6 paired with 2x3s , 3x4s) and minimal PP.

I love a grid! I also like the half and half design, band, and shelf.

One photo, off centre with layers behind, and three groups of embellishment clusters.
I can also do grids, and half and half. This is why I am trying to gravitate towards sketches and more elaborate layouts. I don't have a huge amount of photos to scrap so I want it to look like there is more variety in my layouts.

My design style is very similar to crafymom101.
Mix and match patterns, styles, colors. Mat photos. Most of my embellishments are stickers or chipboard. I very rarely journal. I almost always have some sort of title or word, in relation to whatever the photo is of. (Girls night out, Happy Birthday, lunch date, concert, etc...). I usually use 1-3 photos on a page. I like balance. Not a fan of clustered.

craftymom101 's 'Play All Day' and 'Keep Away From Finny' layouts are the perfect page designs in my eyes. I love the strip dividing the page, and different patterned (or one pattern one plain) papers either side of the strip. In fact I'm going to scrap lift those two pages! I like single photo layouts with several layers. I like double page spreads with multiple photos, and prefer to keep my photos straight rather than on an angle. I don't mind a bit of overlap sometimes. I like clean lines and white space. But I also like clusters and depth. I like strips dividing the page, either horizontal or vertical.

My style is simple, clean, linear, modern, minimalist, & "magazine-ish," which is not often found in this product-driven industry.

I don't have one. Mine depends on how many photos, I guess. If I had to pick, it is multiple photos with lots of different patterned paper and the embellishments depend on my level of interest.

I have a few grid pages from years ago, but they aren’t my go-to. They were never my favorite layout design.
I would have to say that my go-to layout is an odd number of photos, usually 3 to 7, spread across two pages. I juggle them around till I decide what I want for my focal point, where I want to place each photo, and I design the page from there using basic design principles that I learned years ago. My photos and desired papers/embellishments drive the layout design more than anything. I don’t do sketches. I don’t care what the trends are. In fact, my pages I like the least are the ones where I was making my layout based on a trend at the time. Now I don’t glue anything down till I’m sure that I’m happy with my layout, and I feel that my layouts withstand the test of time better.

I think I gravitate towards grid type designs, more often a loose grid, with the embellishments filling in the last spaces in the grid. I don't mind breaking the strict grid structure to give a page movement, or just to make things fit better. I also tend to do a lot of band designs, with a full 12" strip somewhere on the page. I prefer multiple photos, but have no problem scrapping one if that's all I've got/need to tell the story. I think both of these reflect on my preference for a neat and orderly design, I can angle my photos but more times than not I'll have them straight.
I love building clusters on my pages, and I think my three signature elements are two labels tucked at an angle under one of the photos, little sprinkly things, whether that's mist or enamel dots or something similar, and florals.

I don't think I have a "go-to" favorite. Several years ago I purchased a few templates for grid type layouts (don't remember the company), but I could seldom make them work for the photos that I was scrapping. One of my more often used designs is to group several photos together and add elements working outward from there. Craftymom101, love your layouts!

This. A long strip on the left side with another strip, either horizontal or vertical, overlapping it. The photo is on the piece on top. Tapatalk will only let me post one photo at a time so forgive my multiple posts.

And again. I use it so much it is kind of embarrassing. Oh, and that is me. Yep, same basic haircut 50 years later.

Craftymom101, I was scrolling through this thread without looking at the posters' names and I saw two of your layouts and said: Hey, I have that kit! Then I saw it was you, so that tracks. I loved both of those kits- I made some nice pages with them. Your layouts are always lovely.

Artbabe, I really like that design too. I especially love the l/o "Sammy at 3" where you matted the pattern paper. Very eye-catching. I'll have to remember to mat some of my layered pieces!

I wish I had more of a formula to how I scrap, it might make it easier. I call my style whimsical. I like bright colors, splatters of paint, lots of little embellishments, etc. I usually use either one bigger photo, 2-3 2x3 photos or sometimes a big image that I cut with my cameo. I do like the look of the grids that everyone has been doing, but I am not good at doing them. It takes me forever and I'm always underwhelmed with the outcome. So I think I'll have to stay with my random style.

I do grids sometimes. Here is an example: This is my all time favorite beer paper- I bought so many sheets of it.

I don't have one. I start with photos first. Go to my pinterest boards and try to find a page with the same number of photos and the right orientation too. Page design is my number one nemesis. Hence, why I've been doing a lot more pages using divided sheet protectors.

Because I scrap 8.5x11 and use 3x4 photos I have been clustering them into a rectangle in the center and embellishing around that.
My long time go to is a strip of contrasting pp across the bottom or down the side.
