What is your method for revitalizing white towels?

It's hard, I have tried everything and they never get white and fluffy after a few washes. Maybe I wash the towels too much? I just started buying less expensive towels and replacing them more often. We donate towels to the humane society.

I try to wash mine with Oxyclean every wash. About once a month I do a long wash with bleach.
I have some I will need to give away because nothing is getting them white again. I did a load one day and unbeknownst to me, the city was flushing the water lines in our neighborhood. Yep, rust colored swaths all over 2 bath towels, 3 hand towels and 2-3 wash cloths. I was so mad!

I buy my towels at tjmax or places like this and change them after a year or two . I give my old ones to animal rescue.

Oxi Clean makes a product called white revive. I use that. I don’t wash with any fabric softeners, scent beads, use dryer sheets or anything like that. Just free & clear detergent, white revive, and distilled vinegar.

Oxi Clean works great for me. I now have all white towels and bedding and using a little Oxi Clean, with half warm, half hot water keeps them very white. Although, they don’t seem to ever really get dirty.
eta - I always use Persil detergent.

I have well water, so everything white tends to get an orange tinge or just looks dingy in general. I use Iron Out powder. I fill my washer part way with HOT water and add a half cup or more of Iron Out. I agitate it, then add my whites. I add more water if it needs it. I agitate for a couple minutes then turn off and let soak (some HE machines won't fill and won't soak). I let it finish the cycle after soaking an hour (or however long I forget about it) and then let it do the full cycle with rinse. I can find Iron Out in the plumping area of WalMart. Weird - but that's where it is. I also put in in my toilet to remove rust stains. I go back and wash regular after that, since the Iron Out smells a bit funky. But it sure makes things WHITE again!

Soak the towels in Ritz color remover, rinse well, then wash as usually. For added softness, try adding some baking soda on occasion to remove the soap buildup.
As, a nurse from the olden day 😁 I can attest that the color remover removes all kinds of stains and rightens white things, like the uniforms we used to have to wear!

I just bought a bunch of white towels to replace all of my colored towels. I have only done an initial wash on the white towels and appreciate these tips on how to maintain them.
Once again, the peas come through for me!

I have hard water, so I bought gray towels. Problem solved. Maybe that’s what I should do with my socks. Even though I never, EVER walk around my house in only socks, eventually all of my white socks turn this dingy gray in the wash. It’s so annoying! We also have hard water and Oxyclean doesn’t work.

Lol, I also have many gray socks. Hard water makes it a pain to keep whites white.

Okay, ladies. I was in Home Depot this morning picking up more boxes and items for the house and one of those items was vinyl floor cleaner. On the way to the vinyl floor cleaner I walked right by the aisle with the Oxi Clean White Revive. I got about ten steps away and thought, the peas are never wrong, I’d better get some. So I swung around and got a box. Over water here is so terrible that I’m sure my brand new fluffy white towels are going to be dingy before I move out of the area if I don’t keep them white with the pea recommended cleaner.
