I typically make my own reusable cups. I bought a package of 8 of them and fill them all and put them in the freezer (somewhere I heard it keeps the coffee better after it has been ground) but with so much going on right now, and the fact that the movers packed my grinder, I had to go with premade pods. I purchased Costco medium roast pods. I felt a little guilty, but this is just a temporary thing and I will go back to making my own. I also found this gadget on Amazon that cuts the pod apart so that you can recycle the plastic bottom part. I put the paper piece that holds the coffee grinds into my worm bin and they eat the whole thing. Then the plastic bottom goes into the recycle bin. I have been putting the top aluminum part into the regular trash because I don’t know if it can be recycled or not. The gadget just takes a few seconds and keeps the guilt down. www.amazon.com/Medelco-Recycle-Cup-Recycling-Compatible/dp/B073WJW7SY/ref=sr_1_1?crid=38RHG3AKDA4OA&keywords=Pod+recycler&qid=1658416449&sprefix=pod+recycler%2Caps%2C185&sr=8-1I don’t mind Costco medium roast. The strong is too strong and their mild tastes like warm water to me.

Lol I gave dh a direct link and photo of the one I wanted (got it on sale for $150) and said this one please. This. One. He's the one who bought my Keurig. And I have the huge, red one. It was a Christmas gift from him like 4 years ago. I know it was over $100 so hopefully he's not too shocked at $219 for the Capresso. I love the idea of my beans grinding fresh each morning. And the convenience of brewing just two cups or a 10 cup pot. I really think that machine would meet my needs much better than this Keurig. I'm glad your DH treated you to the machine you wanted too.

I was looking at one that grinds and brews but I kept dd in mind. She said that would be a bit overwhelming for her so I went with a new single brew system. I may start to get beans again (did before I got pregnant) and grind some for my own cup.

Since you like medium brew like me, which brands do you like at the on line store? Maybe that will help me find a decaf one I can enjoy.

It is roasted locally here in Michigan. They have a million different flavors and almost all of their regular in decaf too. Hands down, I think of all the coffees I've ordered online, I think theirs is the absolute best. Schuil Coffee

Definitely agree with this! I love my dual coffee-maker, even though I have to grind my beans separately. You will not be sorry! Good luck! I've been traveling to the PNW and loving all the specialty small-batch coffee roasters they have up there. I always bring some home with me (Water Avenue is my favorite), but it's too expensive to get all the time with added shipping costs, hence my quest for other smooth medium roast coffees that I can buy locally. I've found a few pretty good local roasters here but none as good as the ones I like in Portland.

Once it's set up there is literally no difference from a normal coffee pot (easier actually as it holds enough beans for 4-5 days (for my small pots). In the morning, I put water in it and push on. The set up also isn't hard, but you do select number of cups and strength of coffee.

Evidently I like bitter coffee because I don't have a problem with K-cups. I usually buy Green Mountain and I have no problem with it. I also buy Starbucks. I do agree it has a burnt taste but I still like it. I pretty much like all coffee except the cheap kind that tastes like cardboard. McDonald's coffee used to taste like that but they've upped their game. I do give Starbucks credit for making the other places try harder.
I drink my coffee black. If I want to be fancy I get a unsweetened latte and add just a tiny amount of sugar.
I went to an independent coffee shop on vacation and I absolutely loved their coffee, so I know there are better coffees out there from what I drink. I just need to hunt them down. We have an excellent roaster in Columbus but it is on the other side of town and I'm lazy.
I had an old boyfriend that said he liked his coffee like his women: cold and bitter. I probably should have been offended.

artbabe if you like it, I'm cool with that. I'm glad there's something for everybody. My frustration came from trying 4 different kinds and 3 of them were not to my taste so much so I felt like I had wasted my money. I will just give them away I think and not throw them away. Your ex boyfriend sounds lovely...lol.

I have yet to find a K-cup that makes (IMO) a decent cup of coffee. Our answer was to switch to a Nespresso machine. Much better coffee options. Now I'll take my coffee opinion and go hide in the corner because nearly everyone I know has them and thinks they are the greatest thing since sliced bread! We did the same. Not a fan of K-cups for many reasons, but bad coffee is definitely the biggest. Love the Nespresso!

I always think the kcups are bitter too. Smells better than tastes but I still drink it for the caffeine.
I'm must be the only person who thinks the nespresso is so very strong and also bitter. I bought one based on raving here but hardly use it. I don't use sugar or creamers.

I love Starbuck's but it gives me heartburn. I also think their K cups are too bitter.
I like Caribou's Daybreak blend for my Keurig.
