So sad.. 😊. Down to a few hundred thousand viewers.. First DirecTV, now Verizon.. gone!! One America News (OAN) was dealt another major blow when Verizon announced that it would quit carrying the far-right cable news channel on its FiOS service, effective this Saturday, July 30. This comes after OAN being dropped by AT&T’s DirecTV in April. Journalists Jeremy W. Peters and Benjamin Mullin, in an article published by the New York Times on July 26, stresses that between Verizon and DirectTV, OAN has lost access to millions of potential viewers. DirecTV has around 15 million subscribers, while Verizon FiOS has around 3.5 million. www.rawstory.com/trump-oan-2657781764/

7-31-2022..
This guy is something else. He was asked a simple question “do you hope Democrats keep control of the House & Senate?” And half way through his answer I wanted to slug him.

Why would they do this? From the Hill. link“GOP senators block bill expanding care for veterans exposed to toxins”From the article… ”Republican lawmakers blocked passage of a bill in the U.S. Senate Wednesday that expands healthcare coverage for military veterans who were exposed to toxins and burn pits during their service. All Democrats and eight Republicans voted for the Sgt. 1st Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act, but the 55 yes votes fell short of the 60 needed to end a filibuster in the Senate. Three Senators did not vote.” "What it really comes down to… It’s about congress hiding behind an important veterans care bill, a massive unrelated spending binge. That’s what this amounts to." " This provision is completely unnecessary to achieve the PACT Act’s stated goal of expanding health care and other benefits for veterans. However, it would enable an additional $400 billion in future discretionary spending completely unrelated to veterans." ETA: Chuck Schumer is blocking votes on amendments to prevent this. Schumer is doing his part to prevent this bill from moving forward and blaming republicans only. ETA: liza In reference to your question about this in the other thread: As he says in the video, the Democrats want to move the $400 billion to the other category, which then allows them ANOTHER $400 billion to spend on something having nothing to do with helping the veterans. That kind of spending in this economy is a really bad idea. To prevent that takes NOTHING away from veterans. The Democrats stalling of fixing that problem IS delaying the help to veterans.

That was true at one time. It no longer is true. So let me get this straight. Ted Cruz and Steve Daines fist bumping when a bill to address veterans health needs was defeated. Seriously? No, that is not the case.

I really dislike this guy. But it’s a toss up who I dislike more, Manchin or Alito. From AP… ” Manchin declines to say if he wants Dems to retain control”
From the article…. link“WASHINGTON (AP) — West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, one of the Democrats’ most conservative and contrarian members, declined on Sunday to say whether he wants Democrats to retain control of Congress after the November elections. The senator told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that will be determined by the choices of voters in individual states, rather than his own preferences. He added that people “are sick and tired of politics” and want their representatives in Washington to put country over party. “I’ve always taken the approach, whoever you send me, that’s your representative and I respect them and I respect the state for the people they send and I give it my best to work with them and do the best for my country,” Manchin said. Manchin faces reelection in 2024 in a state where Donald Trump prevailed in every county in the past two presidential races, winning more than two-thirds of West Virginia’s voters. But in distancing himself from fellow Democrats, Manchin also tried to decry the rise of partisanship. We’re not working for any party. We’re not working for any political idealism,” he said, bemoaning “bickering over political outcomes and who’s going to be in charge of what” at a time of global tensions, war and economic uncertainty fueled by rising inflation.”

Second Amendment
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
2nd Amendment. What was it meant to mean when it was written? That debate has been going on for years. For the first 218 years it was widely believed it did not give an individual the right to own guns.
Then in 2008 Scalia claimed he did extensive research and determined it did give the individual the right to own guns, that the judges who felt otherwise for the last 218 years were wrong and that the use of the word “militia” was just an introduction. He used the legal term for it.
If the 2nd Amendment was intended to give an individual the right to own guns that would be the simplest to write and no need for any sort of introduction.
In Michael Waldman’s book he included debates/discussions from the Constitutional Convention where the topic was militia vs army. There were many who did not want an army but felt the 13 states could be protected by militia.
Also in the book, Waldman wrote that when James Madison was writing the Bill of Rights one draft of the 2nd Amendment included the term “conscientious objectors”. Why would one even consider that term if this amendment about individual rights?
Waldman also brought up this part of the Constitution…
To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;
To provide and maintain a Navy;
To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;
To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;
To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;
I brought this up once before and not to long ago. Why bring it up again? Because of this guy…. What he says actually makes sense.
Also in the book Waldman talks about guns of the time. All men were automatically eligible to be in the militia and they had to supply their own muskets. Apparently there was at least two types. The lighter cheaper model that the majority of men in the states owned and the heavier more expensive models that the officials felt were better suited to take into battle.

Hmm I’m not seeing what that fool Cornyn is claiming here… SUMMARY: THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT OF 2022 - linkThe Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 will make a historic down payment on deficit reduction to fight inflation, invest in domestic energy production and manufacturing, and reduce carbon emissions by roughly 40 percent by 2030. The bill will also finally allow Medicare to negotiate for prescription drug prices and extend the expanded Affordable Care Act program for three years, through 2025. The new proposal for the FY2022 Budget Reconciliation bill will invest approximately $300 billion in Deficit Reduction and $369 billion in Energy Security and Climate Change programs over the next ten years. Additionally, the agreement calls for comprehensive Permitting reform legislation to be passed before the end of the fiscal year. Permitting reform is essential to unlocking domestic energy and transmission projects, which will lower costs for consumers and help us meet our long-term emissions goals. TOPLINE ESTIMATES: TOTAL REVENUE RAISED - $739B 15% Corporate Minimum Tax - $313B Prescription Drug Pricing Reform - $288B IRS Tax Enforcement - $124B Carried Interest Loophole - $14B TOTAL INVESTMENTS - $433B Energy Security and Climate Change - $369B Affordable Care Act Extension - $64B TOTAL DEFICIT REDUCTION - $300B+ The Inflation Reduction Act. • Enacts historic deficit reduction to fight inflation • Lowers energy costs, increases cleaner production, and reduces carbon emissions by roughly 40 percent by 2030 • Allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices and caps out-of-pocket costs to $2,000 • Lowers ACA health care premiums for millions of Americans • Make biggest corporations and ultra-wealthy pay their fair share • There are no new taxes on families making $400,000 or less and no new taxes on small businesses – we are closing tax loopholes and enforcing the tax code.

7-31-2022.. This guy is something else. He was asked a simple question “do you hope Democrats keep control of the House & Senate?” And half way through his answer I wanted to slug him. I've often thought a truly political move would be to trojan horse a Democrat into the Republican house and change the course of the party. But I figured the cost would be too high to expect someone to sacrifice their integrity for such a long con. But it looks like the Republicans have already done it, which would be easy given they don't possess any integrity to sacrifice.
