Seems like every season or at least twice yearly we're accumulating a new throw/blanket ( or 2)
What does everyone do with the old ones? Stash them in the linen closet? Donate? Pile them higher on the couch. 😁😁

I’m a bit of a pile them higher person, or move them around the house. 😄 I had bought half a dozen gorgeous throws last year for my garden room. When it was destroyed by storms a few months ago, I brought them into the house, and they’re sitting in a large heap on a chair in the living room. They don’t match the decor so I should really put them somewhere else!

I keep finding throws all over the place as I pack up each room! Mom’s bedroom closet had 3 of them and another one on a hanger for some reason. And there were 6 on the ladder leaning up in the living room and a few more in the family room. This is where I admit that I live alone!🙄
I don’t know if an animal shelter would take a throw blanket. I guess it would depend on what it is made from. Definitely not knitted because a dog would tear that up in no time. I have a pile of towels that I am taking to a local rescue place. I have a bunch of sheet sets that I don’t want either. Maybe there is some way to get the throws to the homeless?

Our local animal shelters take them. Also my vet office takes them too.
Every year I donate some Kohl’s throws, during their sale at Thanksgiving, to my vet’s office.

We usually donate all old blankets, sheets, towels and bath rugs to our local animal shelter. You could also try a women's and children's shelter or homeless shelter.

Most of mine have little chewed holes from my dogs. I can't relegate them to the dogs, though-- the chewer is already 2 surgeries in to remove foreign objects from her intestines.
I guess I could donate them to the shelter, but I feel like our family throw blanket mojo isn't ideal for the health of shelter dogs.

Donate them if you don’t need them.

Donate! We have a resale shop that benefits the battered women's shelter. ..or, if there is such a shelter in your city, donate there.

We have tons to. I did purge a few when a neighbors child collected them to take to the shelter. She collected a ton. I love having lots of throws and use them as I switch them up based on weather and mood. I noticed recently that I missed some but the shelter is over an hour away so not going to donate right now.

Pile them higher on the couch. 😣 Really need to remedy this.

I have an extra on the bed. One on the love seat, one over a chair back. One on each front seat in my car. Two rolled on the cabinet near my bed, they are Christmas designs..

I took some things to Goodwill today, and had a nice X-long twin mattress pad. The guy told me Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity are no longer taking things like that. Not sure if it local or what.

We just keep piling them up. The dog has more than we do. We just share them with her when we are out in her area so they get washed often. My favorite ones are in the bedrooms. I need to donate some. Her favorite thing is freshly laundered right of the dryer blankets for night night time. Not spoiled. We came home with two lap blankets from vacation and thought they'd be cozy for the red eye flight. Pile is getting bigger.

I bought a nice ottoman to put in front of a living room chair that holds a large number of throws. This is in addition to the ones on the back of the loveseat and the chairs. I also have a pile of seasonal ones stored in the pedestal drawer under my dryer. I love having them to snuggle under watching TV or take them on road trips. In the cooler months there are always a few cozy ones in the vehicles.

I keep a large basket in my front hall closet with miscellaneous throws acquired over the years. When our kids and their SOs are home visiting everyone knows where they are to grab one for movie night or lounging around. I don’t keep any on the furniture when not in use.
I have donated ones that are in good condition that we no longer use to a blanket collection drive my nephew’s school had a couple years ago.

Throws fall into my policy of trying to get rid of old things as new things come in. We have a few in the family room and a few available in the guest rooms. That's all we need.

I have a couple quilters in my family. They make the most beautiful quilted throws, but I have SO many. I swap them out every year or so.

We have a basket of older blankets in our mudroom, which has a door that leads to our back porch/fire pit. The blankets are in good shape, just old and showing signs of wear. I don't mind them being around the fire, being on the ground, etc. Our laundry is in the mudroom, so it's an easy trip to the washer and then back into the basket.
